Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo’s Look 008 is at first classic, but the Origami folds give it a very modern silhouette. Ushi Sato is the Designer, with the eye-catching ear piece from LVNA By Drake Dustin and gold gladiator heels from Shoepatos Custom Made Shoes by Doreen Odvina.
Styling is courtesy of #TeamRAINxEM Rainier Joseph Dagala and Em Millan with associates Rio Camantigue and Elaine Villapando.

The National Directors have already been informed about a few important details that will be observed during the 69th Miss Universe Pageant in Hollywood, Florida:
1) The National Costume Show will be produced LIVE on location. While it is categorized as optional, everyone is encouraged to participate. It will be held 5-6 days before the Finals on May 16. Conditions are that the candidates themselves are responsible for unpacking, packing and removing* the costume from the venue after the show is finished.
2) There will be NO national gift auction for this edition. Delegates should no longer bring a national gift.
3) Due to COVID, the delegates should NOT bring gifts for the other contestants.
The Miss Universe Organization will be following all COVID guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
* – the heavier the ensemble, the harder it is to individually carry/pull/drag everything, I reckon. So will we see “lighter” costumes this year?
This is a Super #Throwback for Easter Sunday:
While the actual Coronation Night of Binibining Pilipinas 1969 was held June 13 of that year, 2019 marks the Golden Anniversary of Gloria Diaz – both as Binibining Pilipinas Universe and (our country’s first) Miss Universe. Let us focus on her conquest of the national pageant.
FYI, the Bb. Pilipinas 1969 Honor Roll is as follows:
Binibining Pilipinas-Universe – Gloria Maria Aspillera Diaz
Binibining Pilipinas-International – Margaret Rose “Binky” Orbe Montinola
1st Runner-Up – Nelia delos Reyes Sancho (who later became Queen of the Pacific ’71)
2nd Runner-Up – Cynthia Commans Quirino
3rd Runner-Up – Maricar Azaola
4th Runner-Up – Carmina Cuervo Gutierrez (she happens to be the aunt of Bb. Pilipinas World 1993 Sharmaine Ruffa Gutierrez)
Let us now look back at nostalgic photos which the great pageant collector Townee F Paat graciously shared with your blogger for this intent – from her graduation photo in the St. Scholastica College Yearbook at age 17 to her participation in Bb. Pilipinas 1969 at age 18 and eventually winning the right to represent the country in Miss Universe 1969.
