In a big event like the recently-held Met Gala 2015, fashion was at its most avant-garde. The more attention-grabbing, the better. All within good taste, of course.
I am not about to do a critique of the gowns I loved and the ones that made me think twice about a celebrity’s fashion sense. Let me just share the creations that really caught my fancy, either in a guilty-pleasure-of-a-design or I-wouldnt-mind-wearing-one-in-my-dreams kind of way.
Rihanna in yellow follow-my-long-train uber gorg ensemble
Beyonce in 'see-through-me' drop dead eye-catching garb
Sarah Jessica Parker as the Fire Queen
Dr. Lisa Airan in a white number I will wear in a heartbeat
Anne Hathaway in gold with a hoodie. I'll happily wear this one.
Helen Mirren in a bloody red attire with tasteful cut-outs all over. Once I turn 60, or retire at 65, you'll see me in this.
Gong Li in velvet. 'Nuff said.
Julianne Moore in black. I like it.
I’m on fashion overdrive now.
Time for you, dear readers, to share your personal picks. 😉

More Hollywood Celebrities without and with make-up (Photos supplied by Chrome)
In a way, beauty queens are just like celebrities in that they constantly need to be made-up before stepping out of the shadows and exposing their faces to the press and paparazzis.
Just look at the plain-faced Pamela Sue Anderson above and you will conclude that her cosmetic make-over is so major that, without the enhancements, she could pass off as a worn-down mother of six who couldn’t care less if she would look like one while shopping at the nearest dollar store.
Among the four above, Tyra Banks surprised me the least because she has not really been that alienating when it comes to making quick public appearances wearing the lightest of make-up. And she is the one whose looks are not drastically different from each other. Unlike Beyonce who will not strike anyone as Goddess-like when dressed without glitters and wearing a plain beanie hat.
To be continued…
Zuhair Murad (photo left) is a Lebanese fashion designer who has gained much success globally with his haute couture and ready-to-wear (even eyewear) lines. With shops both in his native country and in Milan, Italy, the guy’s creations have been worn by celebrities (and royalties) like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Ivana Trump and Princess Al-Taweel of Saudi Arabia . Pageant-wise, he lent his creative genius to the long gown worn by Miss France 2009 Chloé Mortaud who went on to place 6th during the Miss Universe finals held at Atlantis in the Bahamas. Watch his latest collection in the video below:

How I would love to see our Ara wear a divine Zuhair Murad piece like the one above!
Meanwhile, the style above should look well on Bea Santiago for Miss International, no?
Mutya will float like a goddess in Belarus with this!
And Cindy Miranda? She should be able to bring this number with a lot of oomph!
What do you say about this one for Pia Wurtzbach if she gets fielded abroad?
Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2012 Katrina Dimaranan is excited for MTQI2012!
Sensuously lovely Katrina!
Time flies so fast. And for Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Katrina Dimaranan, her date with Miss Tourism Queen International 2012 is getting nearer and nearer by the day. Since all the candidates need to be in Beijing by December 12, she should be getting her own send-off a few days earlier.
The finals will take place on December 28. And while she will definitely be spending Christmas away from home, the challenge of bringing honor to the country outweighs everything such that she has already conditioned herself to the less-than-familial Holiday celebrations in Mainland China. Who knows, she might be able to pull a victory and set herself up for a festive New Year’s Eve party in Manila. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that possibility. 😉
P.S. Katrina will be showcasing her excellent singing voice during the Talent Competition of the pageant. By now, she must’ve already zeroed in on her song of choice, and I heard it might be Beyonce’s “I Was Here”.
Charice’s singing ability is nothing short (no pun intended) of amazing. When word got around that she will be joining the cast of Glee, the response was very positive and not only Filipinos eagerly awaited for her debut on the highly popular show. So when Season 2 started airing yesterday (Sept. 21 in the US) on Philippine cable TV, the whole country watched in awe as the pint-sized Filipina held her own against lead actress Lea Michele (playing Rachel Berry) in two highlights of the first episode. The first was when her character – Sunshine Corazon – ‘dueled’ with Rachel Berry inside the washroom as they sang the Lady Gaga/Beyonce hit “Telephone”, while the second saw her formally auditioning to the McKinley High Glee Club with the Beyonce song “Listen” from Dreamgirls.
I must admit getting goosebumps watching Charice hitting one money note after another. For those who missed it or want to watch again, here’s the video…

Knowing now that Sunshine Corazon’s character has been ‘intercepted’ by the Director of Vocal Adrenaline, it paves the way for more vocal drama between her and Rachel Berry in the weeks to come, especially when their singing competitions reach the regionals in New York. But that also means less of Charice in the next few episodes or so, not until the need to ignite the battle between New Directions and Vocal Adrenaline begins. I was half-hoping that Sunshine will eventually be wooed back to rejoin the lead cast in their school, but I don’t see that happening just yet.
To Charice, excellent job! You did not disappoint. More! More! More! 😉
I really need to share this with you, my dear readers. Did you watch Grammy Awards the other night? And if you did, don’t you find Pink’s performance of the song “Have You Ever Live” simply amazing and breathtaking? I mean, I haven’t seen anyone pull out a stunt like that while singing. She was hoisted in the air and hanging by her legs on a long piece of white cloth. Not only that she was twirling like crazy during her number. Any weak-hearted person would easily throw up. And it did not stop there, she was lowered down again and submerged in a pool of water for about 30 seconds and then hoisted back up. This time, she was twirling wet and whisking water all over the audience like an inverted human sprinkler. Whew! Talk about outclassing Beyonce’s (which was presented right before Pink’s number) fabulous “If I Were A Boy” act, she slew the other guest performers.
A wet and dripping Pink, right after she was submerged in a pool of water, then hoisted back in the air and delicately hanging by her thigh and lower back.

Have you guys seen Beyonce’s latest music video with Lady Gaga?
My eyes got literally pasted to the boob tube (no pun intended) while watching the same. She is just smoking hot and I can honestly state that Lady Gaga looked like a poor second-fiddle to the Diva.
Watch below and tell me what you think:

Isn’t Beyonce just devilishly sexy in this video?
