She was Binibini 38 last year. This time around, Ana Patricia ‘Patrik’ Asturias from Tacloban City is your #Binibini4 in Bb. Pilipinas 2018. The licensed Interior Designer and Restaurateur is more than eager to win and make her presence felt. And she has a lot of thoughts to share about this second journey in the nationals. Here goes:
“They say, we are only as good as the chances we take. The chance I unexpectedley took last year made me land as a finalist in bb. pilipinas, and it turned out to be a really memorable experience for me that I know I will always look back at in my life. Not only did I come out of my shell, I made life long friends, oppurtunities opened for me and I gained wisdom and mentors who I learned so much from. The experience of joining the first time was a test of self-control, patience and endurance. It challenged me and brought me to find who I truly desire to be as a person. It made 2017 the year of growth for me.
It feels great to be back knowing that I am a better and much happier person. I see how people have a desire to learn from my experience from BbP2017 as well as being a designer and entrepreneur. The thought of knowing my capacity to influence inspired me and made me persevere to make improvements in myself, to push myself to do better every single day – at work, at home, as a friend, to my community, and for my own personal well-being. It took me awhile to find it in my heart to compete once more. But one day, looking back at the months that have passed, it strongly occured to me that everything I was doing led to that point. The fact that I kept asking myself over and over again if I would compete for a second time meant that I needed to be here once more.”
When asked about how she will give a more inspired go for one of the 2018 crown, this is what Patrik said.
“It’s the love and support of the people around me that make me feel inspired. My family, friends, supporters, mentors – they are my edge and motivation to do better this time with the belief that a winner is not about being the best of the rest and finding validation in this competition. You never know if you’re gonna bag a crown or not. All you have to do as a candidate is to always come prepared and make sure you make a great performance in every occasion. You come to Bb. Pilipinas as a winner in life – having something confidently to share. It’s about sharing who you are as a person, what you know and what you believe in. I have so much I would like to continuously share and experience. That is the ultimate reason why I’m here. Beauty will always be subjective and each one will have different opinions, all I can say is that I am truly myself and I have so much enthusiasm to be in this journey with all of you!”
The Philippines has so far continued to enjoy success in the international pageant scene in 2017, and Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Katarina Rodriguez is hoping to give the country one more crown.
Currently in Egypt for the Miss Intercontinental competition, Katarina is determined to give the country its first ever Miss Intercontinental title. And Filipinos around the world can help her get closer to that dream by voting for her in the pageant’s online poll prior to the coronation night on January 24 (January 25, Manila time).
Netizens just have to go to http://www.missintercontinental.com/voting-miss-intercontinental-2017/ and select Katarina and two other contestants for their votes to count. Voting ends on January 23, 9 p.m. (Egypt time, around 3 a.m. of January 24 in Manila).
Remember this: The winner of the online poll will automatically advance to the final stage of the competition.
This year’s Miss Intercontinental competition will be held at the Sunrise Resort in Hurghada. Sunrise Resort offers a scenic view of the sea and even has its own private beach and lagoon. The hotel is also a primary mover in Hurghada’s party scene.
In other fronts, the blog – The Great Pageant Community – is also holding a separate online poll, with the winner being named the TGPC’s People’s Choice and will advance directly to the semifinals. Netizens can vote unlimited number of times, but the poll will close on the midnight of January 23 Indian Standard Time (PH Standard time is 2.5 hours ahead of IST). The link for voting in TGPC’s People’s Choice is https://thegreatpageantcommunity.com/2017/12/16/official-poll-miss-intercontinental-2017-vote-now/
Aside from being a successful ramp, commercial and print model—she finished second runner up in Asia’s Next Top Model in 2014—Katarina is also an advocate of peace and HIV-Aids awareness.
Thirteen is not necessarily an unlucky number, especially to the Independent Kristie Rose Cequeña who is your Binibini 13 for Bb. Pilipinas 2018. Last year, she was Binibini 33. Let’s see what fate awaits this lady whose last-minute decision to re-join was reached upon just a day before the deadline, and while she was relaxingly biking around on a Sunday morning.
“If fate and luck give me the opportunity to become one of the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 titleholders, then so be it. I really worked hard for this and ready to take the responsibility to represent the Philippines in any of the international competitions up for grabs but more importantly, to continue doing BPCI’s Charitable endevours and socio-civic undertakings. Being a Binibini is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will always have a significant impact in my life.
This time around, my edge will be the experiences and valuable lessons I have learned when I first joined Binibini last year. That opportunity expanded my horizon, full of realization that made me the best version of my true self right now. I do hope that these will be my greatest assets in this pageant journey.”

This is the National Costume of Miss Philippines Katarina Rodriguez for Miss Intercontinental 2018. Francis Libiran is the Designer.
For her competition Evening Gown, Katja will be wearing another Francis Libiran. This time in pink, I was told. Watch out for that one soon!
This is the look of Miss Philippines Katarina Rodriguez during her Preliminary Interview for Miss Intercontinental 2018 at the Sunrise Crystal Bay Resort in Hurghada, Egypt. And our bet believes that she confidently answered the questions well enough to impress the judging panel.
