Season 1 is nearing its finale. Time to plan something a little bit different for Season 2 which will start mid-September.

Mutya Chairman Fred Yuson
This was a quotable quote during the FB live held earlier when Mutya President Cory Quirino asked “her boss” about the direction the pageant will be headed this 2020.
Mr. Yuson remains optimistic despite the pandemic crisis. Changes may be implemented because of the “new normal” and some of it may look “anti-social”, but he reasoned that it will all make sense eventually. After all, everything happens for a reason. And in keeping with the digital age, Mutya Pilipinas will still definitely be green-and-go.
“Hindi pa tayo laos (we are not obsolete), we have the right people and we will show them that we are still a cut above the rest…” added Mr Yuson.

The 50-year old beauty organization – Mutya ng Pilipinas – announces its new management led by media celebrity and women empowerment advocate Cory Quirino as its President.
Ms. Quirino brings with her six successful years in pageantry having produced outstanding winners including one major international crown.
Fred Yuson, Chairman of Mutya ng Pilipinas, revealed the strategic move as “one which will positively secure the future of the organization.”
Quirino shared, “In the search for the Hometown Girl, we at Mutya intend to give every young lady who dreams of having a crown on her head and a chance to be discovered.”
Instrumental in bridging Mutya closer to aspiring candidates was the signing of an MOU with the Liga ng mga Barangay headed by Kapitana Eden Pineda under the auspices of DILG Usec. for Barangay Affairs, Martin Diño.
“Wherever the Filipina is and whatever hometown she resides in, whether here or abroad, we extend a warm invitation to her to become a member of the Mutya ng Pilipinas family”, announced Cory Quirino.
Meanwhile, the official search of Mutya ng Pilipinas begins on April 2019. Coronation night is set for August, 2019.

A fresh young ingenue from Sultan Kudarat was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International and will now head straight tomorrow to officially represent the Philippines in Miss Asia-Pacific International 2018 which will have its Press Presentation on Tuesday afternoon. Sharifa Akeel got her wish of getting the top title amd is game enough to forego the post-coronation rest. She will have her photoshoot in the daytime and get herself acquainted with the almost 50 other international delegates.
Aya Fernandez, younger sister of former Bb. Pilipinas International Patricia Fernandez was crowned Mutya Tourism International and will compete in Malaysia this coming December.
Two Visayans complete the new titleholders as Keshapornam Ramachandran of Iloilo and Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol were adjudged Mutya- Tourism Queen of the Year International and Mutya-Global Beauty Queen. They will compete in their respective international missions later this year in China and May of 2019 in Korea, respectively.
1st Runner-Up is Mary Justine Teng of Muntinlupa City and 2nd Runner-Up is Kristine Malicsi of Navotas.
Jade Roberts of Australia was honored with the title of Mutya-Overseas Communities.
Conratulations to all the Golden eidtion winners of Mutya ng Pilipinas!
I always say it time and again that making Final Predictions for the results of a national beauty pageant cannot be compared to looking through a crystal ball and seeing the faces of the eventual winners vividly flashing after continuous rubbing of the same. Spending fleeting moments of quality time with them is no guarantee of accuracy in making forecasts either. It would be safe to state that I picked up on small hints here and there from different aspects of the competition and gathered all the pertinent impressions/realizations along the way that cumulatively gave me the confidence of sharing my choices.
With fifty (50) Official Candidates, the level of difficulty is raised two-fold. Whereas usual past editions would have no more than thirty (30) contenders, the playing field got significantly bigger. So without further ado, let me share my Top 25 choices ranked accordingly. I took the liberty of highlighting those occupying the 1st to 15th spots because they are already my preferred qualifiers from where I will choose my set of winners:
1. Pauline Amelinckx
2. Sharifa Akeel
3. Nina Ancheta
4. Mary Justine Teng
5. Kristine Malicsi
6. Aya Fernandez
7. Keshapornam Ramachandran
8. Anie Uson
9. Ebony Bangit
10. Agatha Romero
11. Rein Hillary Carrascal
12. Jeserey Sanchez
13. Arianne Deseree Viardo
14. Jessica Duhay
15. Honey Grace Cartasano
16. Bettina Eleanor Dingemans
17. Gezza Avila
18. Shaira Portugal
19. Mae Kimberly de Luna
20. Allison Lorenzo
21. Geri Franchesca Camargo
22. Odessa dela Cuesta
23. Ana Clarice Patrimonio
24. Marseilaise Perkins
25. Katrina Sese
In the event that my Top 15 above would undergo Q&A, it becomes increasingly hard to guess who will ultimately shine in delivery. So at this point, I would go out on a limb and state the ladies who I think will get the nod from the decision-makers. Gut-feel tells me as well that the judges (and the organization) are keeping an eye on these eight (8) ladies to form the magic circle of winners.
My Top 8 are:
1. Pauline Amelinckx
2. Sharifa Akeel
3. Nina Ancheta
4. Mary Justine Teng
5. Kristine Malicsi
6. Aya Fernandez
7. Keshapornam Ramachandran
8. Anie Uson
I am in a bit of a bind for the last two spots because Ebony Bangit, Rein Hillary Carrascal and Agatha Romero might also be capable of sneaking in. But I digress. It is a toss between Nina Ancheta of Los Angeles and Ebony Bangit of Melbourne for the Special Title of Mutya-Overseas Communities. I will give it to the latter because Nina – in my opinion – is destined for a bigger title.
So now, here is how I assign the titles and the two position of runners-up (assuming that only two runners-up will be announced):

Pauline Amelincx of Bohol for Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International

Sharifa Akeel of Sultan Kudarat for Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International

Nina Ancheta of Los Angeles for Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism Queen of the Year International

Mary Justine Teng of Muntinlupa City for Mutya ng Pilipinas Global Beauty Queen

Kristine Malicsci of Navotas for 1st Runner-Up

Aya Fernandez of Taguig City for 2nd Runner-Up
Honestly, both Pauline and Sharifa could interchange with the titles or stay the way I predict them to be. Regardless, I would be happy seeing them as the two highest finishers in this very competitive batch of ladies.

Darlings of the Press
Inside the combined function rooms of Ascott Makati all the way to the poolside area, the 50th Mutya ng Pilipinas Press Presentation was held in front of a record number of guests from across all segments of media. The fifty (50) candidates jockeyed up for positions in front of everyone and took to the spotlight to show who will shine better than the rest. Pageant President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo was overfilled with joy given the high turnout of attendance that she even announced the upcoming release the commemorative book that will detail the history of Mutya ng Pilipinas from 1968 to the present.
During the voting for Darling of the Press (left photo), Candidate #48 Mary Justine Teng of Muntinlupa City garnered the highest number of support, followed by #23 Agatha Romero of Manila and #21 Nina Ancheta of Los Angeles.
Other standouts who were given long exposures during the open mic session are #24 Pauline Amelinckx of Bohol, #19 Sharifa Akeel of Sultan Kudarat, #46 Aya Fernandez of Taguig and #47 Mariafe Loayon of Cebu.
Here are the individual photos of the candidates as photographed by Joy Arguil.
