Parul & Maggie are moving up on The Amazing Race Asia 5
A photo grid summary of their performance so far
Parul & Maggie on the mat with fellow Philippine team Eric & Rona
Beauty Queens Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson continue to make us proud in The Amazing Race Asia Season 5 with their gradual ascent to the top of the pack. From a 7th place finish during the premiere episode, the duo moved up to 6th the following week before landing on 5th when the teams finally headed to Malaysia. Last Thursday, they secured their best leg finish so far by getting to the mat in Thailand at 3rd place. And FYI, the other Philippine team – married couple Eric & Rona – is still safe.
For those who missed Episode 1 (the start of the race in Jakarta) more than a few weeks back, here is the video provided by AXN and TARA itself.

For Episode 5, here is the preview teaser so you will know what the remaining racers are up against.
Beauty Queens Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson are two of the Philippine teams in the latest season of The Amazing Race Asia
This coming October, the latest season of The Amazing Race Asia on the AXN Channel will premiere with eleven (11) teams from different Asian countries competing for the US$100,000 grand prize. For the interest of pageant followers, one of the two Philippine pairs is the tandem is made up of former Bb. Pilipinas titleholders Parul Shah (who competed for and placed 3rd Runner-Up during Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok) and Maggie Wilson-Consunji (our entry during Miss World 2007 held in Sanya, China).
Parul and Maggie trained hard for the race
Along with the 2nd Philippine team – married couple Eric Tai (formerly of It’s Showtime) and Rona Samson – they will try to bring back-to-back honors to the country by bagging top place in the reality series that saw the last season’s pair of best buddies Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera taking it all the way to #1.
I need to do this special feature because I am extremely proud of our super talented Filipinos. As I watched the Grand Finals of Asia’s Got Talent last night on AXN, my sense of pride was heightened even more. Imagine, out of nine (9) Asia-wide finalists, four (4) are from the Philippines! And boy, did they give their ultimate out-of-this-world performances, especially El Gamma Penumbra and Gerphil Flores who gave acts that are both world-class and honor-worthy.
Now’s the time for all of us to show our support for all of them. Voting can be made up until Monday (May 11) midnight. And here are the codes to guide you:
EL GAMMA PENUMBRA – Text AGT7 to 2929
GERPHIL FLORES – Text AGT8 to 2929
JUNIOR NEW SYSTEM – Text AGT9 to 2929
GWYNETH DORADO – Text AGT3 to 2929
The voting codes for the four Filipino acts are specified above. Just text and send to 2929.
Tonmorrow night, “The Kitchen Musical” will air its’ Asian Premiere on the AXN Channel at 8:00PM. This innovative – genre busting if you will – production with a Pan-Asian cast revolves around the lives of people working in a fictional fine dining restaurant. The story is spiced up with a big helping of song-and-dance segments performed by a talented group of artists that include Filipino singers Karylle Tatlonghari and Christian Bautista plus US-based stage actor Arthur Acuna. They are joined by Stephen Rahman Hughes and Rosemary Vandenbrouke in completing the quintet of lead characters. The plot is anchored around the storyline of a rich young girl’s journey of self-discovery when she starts working in the kitchen of the restaurant, straight out of Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.
Watch the video below for a taste of the new show:

The Kitchen Musical – drected by the very creative Cheek – will air regionally via nTV7 (Malaysia) Studio 23 (Philippines), Metro TV (Indonesia), and AXN (19 Asian Countries).
For those who might have missed the episode this week, I’ve taken the liberty of posting the four-part video that revealed the Top 3 teams of The Amazing Race Asia 4 who will race for the USD100,000.00 top prize.
I’m bummed that Jess & Lani were eliminated, but still hopeful that the Richards (Rich Hardin & Rich Herrera) made it to the very final leg. I will surely be rooting for them!
Here are the three teams who will vie for the big moolah of Season 4:
The Richards (Philippines)
Natasha & Hussein (Indonesia)
Claire & Michelle (Singapore)
Who do you think will win? Well, your guess is as good as mine!

Meanwhile, I’m off to Taiwan this morning for a 4-day trip to Taipei. It’s my first official visit to the island republic and hopefully, I can still blog from there. I was told that my hotel room at QStay will have a personal computer with free wi-fi. One less (heavy) laptop bag to carry around. Yay! 😉
