This is my “In the Spotlight” feature for your #Binibini34 Mary Joy ‘Mj’ de Castro, and the first solo feature I uploaded for this pretty Aces & Queens lass from Mindanao. Little has been forwarded to us about her credentials except for being a photographer and budding filmmaker from Davao del Norte who studied at the Ateneo de Davao University. I remember asking her during the camp’s Presentation Show about what will her short film be all about if she was to make one right after the competition.
“The film will definitely be about the ladies. I want to focus on them because it would be interesting to capture the daily activities and follow them on the road – see the highs and lows perhaps. That would be a film worth watching.”
Now before Mj starts to make a movie about the Binibinis, let us check out her personal interview video first so you can give your comments, dear readers.

Bb. Pilipinas 2016 2nd Runner-Up Jehza Huelar
During these lull moments in between the simultaneous international competitions of Kylie Verzosa and Nicole Cordoves in Tokyo and Las Vegas, respectively, I thought of featuring Bb. Pilipinas 2016 2nd Runner-Up Jehza Huelar after my recent blog post about Angelica Alita – the ladies in the wings for our titled Queens.
You all know that Jehza was already a fashion and photographic model back in her home province of Davao before finally going the pageant route and successfully graduating from her college degree at Ateneo de Davao University amidst her beautiful ride in the nationals. At this point, the world remains to be her growing oyster. She could rejoin in 2017 or finish her BPCI contract till she serves the full eighteen (18) months then get some gainful employment in the business sector as a good alternative.
Either way, Jehza is still on a win-win slate. She is already a degree holder with the Bb. Pilipinas door already open for her to fulfill the unfinished business of winning a national crown to her name.
I know that this girl is wise. And whatever calculated moves she will end up doing should definitely be for the best. In the meantime, enjoy her pretty in (predominantly) pink creations by Yang Bautista. 😉
Binibini 37 Jehza Huelar’s photo during her Graduation Birthday last Saturday
When I posted the photo of Binibini 37 Jehza Huelar during her graduation from Ateneo de Davao University on my Facebook timeline, the image elicited so many likes, just as I expected. After all, nothing is more inspiring than to see a Bb. Pilipinas candidate graduating right in the middle of competition.
And just to add more flavor to Jehza’s Commencement Exercises last Saturday, it was also her 21st Birthday – double the big celebration in Davao!

Let’s see if this sweet young lady will celebrate another achievement less than two weeks from now. If she is fated to be a winner of one of the crowns, then how happy the whole of Davao will be.
And your blogger will also jump for joy! 😀

Davao City’s Eds Agustin is giving Bb. Pilipinas 2014 her best shot
Eds Agustin (right on the middle) during Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013
You might remember Ateneo de Davao grad Ednornance Agustin sashaying to the middle of the stage during Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 won by the pair of Koreen Medina and Angeli Dione Gomez. She represented Davao City back then. And if she is fortunate enough to enter the roster of Official Candidates for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, she won’t be alone bannering one of the most progressive cities in Mindanao.
Be that as it may, 23 year-old Eds is going full steam ahead with this new pageant mission. Helped by the Kagandahang Flores team, she is in high spirits and willing to buck all the odds in the search for one of the national crowns.

I have included 5’8″ Eds among my Top 40, and I expect her to reach that spot at the very least for now. If she is ready to step up to the plate and exceed her own expectations, then I won’t be surprised with a better placement. 😉
