Since the date of submission for applications to Miss Universe Philippines 2021 ends exactly one week from now, this will be the last in my #TurningPhenomenal series. This entry is my 20th. So as not to preempt the start of online screenings – and given that there are still many rumored joiners who are classified as, yes, rumors – the buck stops here.
So will this Filipino-German celebrity be one of Miss Universe Philippines’next Phenomenal Woman? The talks are spreading, not like wildfire exactly, but enough for different pageant sites to be either excited or resistant to the idea.
Don’t get me started with the comparison to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach because other than the similarity in the descent mix, I see no useful parallelisms to use between Maureen and Queen P.
Sure they both entered showbiz, but keep in mind that Pia did so when she was only 11 and without any kind of solid achievement to back up her bid for stardom. Maureen, on the other hand, took advantage of her victory in Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 to jumpstart a career in TV and commercials which included appearances on Eat Bulaga and that TVC of Palmolive Expertique. She also has a YouTube channel that has more than 162,000 subscribers to date.
So how does Maureen sit with you, dear readers? If the rumors are true and she ends up being the representative of Pangasinan or a city in NCR, will she get your full support?
Let the discussions begin.
Maureen Wroblewitz became the first Philippine representative to win Asia’s Next Top Model. She got strong challenges from Shikin of Malaysia and Tu of Vietnam. But in the end, it was the Fil-German’s time to shine full force as her name was announced by host Cindy Bishop as the Season 5 winner.

While we await the official results of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 5 which will be revealed next week in the season finale, let us look at the lighter side of this beautiful Fil-German who – in the video below from Preview Magazine – gives us samplings of her fluency in the German language. She makes it sound easy like Heidi Klum during Project Runway.

Show of hands: Did Maureen really win Asia’s Next Top Model S5?
The rumors are not just hushed talks.
Most everyone I know (at least those who follow the program on Star World) is nagging me if Maureen Wroblewitz of the Philippines has finally won the country’s first-ever top place finish in Season 5 of Asia’s Next Top Model.
Truly, I cannot give a definitive answer to the question for two (2) good reasons:

1) I did receive sound-offs from at least two sources that the Philippines won (as Season 5 has completed filming many weeks back) but without valid photo proof and only unbridled persistence that she indeed finished as #1, I can only take the claims as possible hype to raise the unified interest of Philippine viewers to watch the remaining episodes and jack up the ratings.
2) If I indeed hold factual information that Maureen surpassed the efforts of all previous Filipinas who came soooo close to victory, then I wouldn’t want to spoil the excitement in deference to the request of the producers to withold any major spoiler. Even if I was not personally hooked up by their media people for Season 5, I still respect the efforts of the show to build up a proper momentum for the finale.
Be that as it may, the last two episodes have been really telling. In favor of a possible Maureen victory, that is. But let’s take spoiler quips from all over with a grain of salt and watch till the end to see if they will hold water.
Here is a video of one of the “leaked claims“.
