Aimee, Monika, Franchesca and Amanda enjoy Boracay outside of the show
You’d think that just because they took part in a TV reality search, lasting friendships cannot be genuinely formed. But not in the case of these Asia’s Next Top Models Season 3 contenders.
Monika Sta. Maria, Franchesca Lagua and Amanda Chan – all Filipinas – together with Aimee Rose Cheng-Bradshaw from Singapore are spending the long Labor Day weekend in Boracay where they continued their being best buddies long after filming of the 3rd season of the modeling search was over. Of course, we’re still approaching the halfway mark on cable TV and only one of them has been eliminated so far (Franchesca). Be that as it may, the four ladies have formed a strong bond among themselves and are now like true sisters.
By the time all ladies return to their normal lives by Tuesday, the good times may no longer be in full swing. The ties they have linked in between will remain tight, however.
And my lips are super-tightly sealed as to who the eventual winner of Season 3 really is. 😉
These ladies have gotten real close during the taping of the show and after

Alright, I promised the HK-based Producers of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 not to share here a video of the latest episode coming from unauthorized sources. Hence, I decided to just put up above the teaser of Episode 4 (but if you really want to catch the whole thing quick, click here
Anyways, the latest hour-long installment of the show was a scorcher in more ways than one. Aside from a Shanghai-themed photoshoot that brought out the contenders’ sensuality (or lack thereof), there was a surprising double elimination that effectively reduced the remaining ladies from 11 to 9.
It was a shocking double elimination that took place during Episode 4. Celine of Vietnam and Lorretta of Hong Kong were booted from the competition.
This was the week of the Philippines’ Monika Sta. Maria when she finally won Best Photo. And she is fully relieved that she was able to get her mojos flowing. Let’s see how well she can maintain the praiseworthy performance.
Watch out for Episode 5 tonight on Star World. 😉
P.S. You can visit the YouTube channel of the show to watch previous episodes and unseen clips.
Before you get to watch the Shanghai-themed Episode 4 of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3 tonight on Star World, feast your eyes first on Episode 3’s makeover-filled hour (just in case you missed it or want to watch all over again).
In this one, the ladies had dramatic do-overs, especially Melissa Tan Li Hsia of Malaysia. Rani Ramadhany of Indonesia got the boot in the end after she got sick and under-performed during her photoshoot. The three Filipinas are still intact, going into the next episode with a steamy touch during the challenge.
Do catch the scorching challenge! 😀

Rani of Indonesia was the one eliminated during Episode 3
This week's episode had the ladies channeling their inner K-Pop Girl vibe
It was Kiana of Thailand who got eliminated this week
K-Pop was written all over the second episode of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3. Aside from knowing how to dance as a group in perfect sync (and they all did perfectly well, I might add
), the ladies were also tasked to dress and be made up as members of a K-Pop Girl Group for their all-important photoshoot.
It wasn’t easy for everyone, especially Amanda of the Philippines who has practically little rhythm in her dancing body to do all the choreographed steps taught during the same.
But in the end, it wasn’t her who got booted (although she was part of the bottom two). It was Kiana of Thailand who was sent packing instead.
By the way, the trio of Aimee (Singapore), Melissa (Malaysia) and Celine (Vietnam) topped this week’s photo challenge. All three (3) Filipinas (Monika, Chesca and Amanda) are still safe.

Did you watch the Global Premiere of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 3
last night? I wanted to post a vid of the same, but it is still unavailable online. I’m just glad that the show has returned to Singapore. The Lion City gives it a more dynamic feel, unlike Season 2 in Malaysia which somehow stepped back in overall appeal.
At any rate, the three (3) Filipina contenders in the series – Monika Sta. Maria, Amanda Chan and Franchesca Lagua – are starting to show a lot of promise. Monika, in particular, has already impressed host Georgina Wilson and mentor Joey Mead-King so far. In my opinion, she could do very well in the long stretch, alongside Barbara Akemi Katsuki of Japan and possibly Ayu Gani of Indonesia.
Watch out for next week’s K-Pop-inspired episode. 😉

Season 3 of Asia’s Next Top Model
will premiere on Star World on March 25. Georgina Wilson will be the new host. She will be joined by Joey Mead King who stayed on as the mentor of the ladies and new recruits Alex Perry (of Australia’s Next Top Model
) who will serve as one of the judges and British photographer Jez Smith.
There will be fourteen (14) contenders, with three (3) of them – Amanda Chan, Monika Sta. Maria and Chesca Lagua – coming from the Philippines. The eleven (11) others are Lori and Kirsteen from Hong Kong, Ayu, Rani and Tahlia from Indonesia, Akemi from Japan, Melissa and Shareeta from Malaysia, Aimee from Singapore, Kiana from Thailand and Celine from Vietnam. Let’s check them out in the video below.

Don’t miss the global premiere of Season 3 on March 25. The show will be exclusively aired by Star World around Asia.
Aside from host Georgina Wilson making it worth watching, having three (3) contestants from the Philippines should also add fuel to the interest. 😉
Just like Season 2, Asia’s Next Top Model S3 (set to premiere on Star World next month) will have two (2) Philippine contenders – Monika Sta. Maria and Franchesca Denise Lagua.
You might remember Monika as the former Century Tuna Superbods finalist whom I blogged before as a potential Bb. Pilipinas candidate. Franchesca, on the other hand, is a fashion model whose latest stints were the Bench Underwear Show “The Naked Truth” and Philippine Fashion Week.
Let’s see if these two ladies have what it takes to match the 2-3 punch of Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez prior, or perhaps, get to the top position for one of them. I have my confidence in one of them. Not so sure about the other girl, though, since I’m not that familiar with her (don’t take this as a spoiler, please).
Of course, if there’s one thing worth looking forward to in S3, it’s the inaugural hosting of Georgina Wilson who took over the responsibilities of Nadya Hutagalung. 😉
Georgina Wilson will host Season 3 of Asia's Next Top Model
On her Instagram account (@ilovegeorgina
), beautiful Georgina Wilson proudly announced that she will be the new host of Asia’s Next Top Model. Season 3, that is.
Expect the next cycle to be fiercer, and with an anticipated rise in following here in the Philippines. After all, anything with the gorgeous Georgina is always a magnet for watchers and pageant followers alike. Your blogger included, even if I have been a big fan of the show ever since it started.
So do I finally see a Filipina taking Season 3 all the way to the top? Why not? Season 1 has Jessica Amornkuldilok for Thailand winning when Nadya Hutagalung started hosting. A new lady at the helm might do wonders for our bet/s. 😉
