Among the many representatives of Filipino communities abroad who took part in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013, one lady stood out during the finals and was crowned Mutya-Overseas Communities. And deservingly so, I must add. Ásdís Lísa Karlsdottir, the Filipina-Icelandic Mutya ng Nordic 2013 who came all the way from the Land of Fire and Ice, does have unmistakable Pinay
features across her delicate and gentle face. But at the same time, she still exudes the strains of her father’s lineage, apart from being more fluent in the Icelandic language. I can’t confirm if the Mutya organizers will give her the opportunity to represent the Philippines in an international competition. But as I have stated before, she can make a beautiful bet for the Europe-based Miss Intercontinental (the local franchise of which used to be owned by Mutya; just not sure if it has already expired). Let’s see if she will wear the country’s sash somewhere.
Hamingjuóskir, samfögnuður, Ásdís! (hope that came out right) 😉
