Over the weekend, Mister Global Teen Philippines 2017 Arjoy Elbanbuena got his wish granted of a courtesy call with the Honorable La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III after giving pride to his home province during the finals of Mister Philippines 2017 last month. He also saw Sudapen Mayor Allan Buquing for a second call. These individuals gave much support and assistance in his bid during the pageant.
The 18 year-old was in high spirits as he was given the chance to give back to La Union at such a young age. And with that, I engaged him in a short Q&A to check on how he really takes on the new life of a pageant titleholder. Read on.
This young man is full of dreams and aspirations as a youth. His life objective may be elementary to some, but how many 18 year-old students get an opportunity similar to what Arjoy got?
1) What was running inside your head when you finally won one of the Mister Philippines titles?
“The thing running inside my head when I finally won one of the titles in Mister Philippines 2017 is that this is my stepping stone to become popular, to become an artist someday and it also gives me the chance to represent my country in the international competition.”
2) What for you is the best thing about the Mister Philippines experience and what is your most memorable moment in the week-long competition?
“The best thing about the Mister Philippines experience is knowing and bonding with the other candidates who come from different parts of the country. I also appreciated knowing the organizers even more – like you Tito Norman. My most memorable moment in the week-long competition was the rehearsal for the pre-pageant because it was so very rushed that we only had one day of rehearsal. The funny thing is that the day of rehearsal was also the day of the pre pageant.”
3) How are you preparing for your competition in Mister Global Teen 2017?
“I am preparing for my international competition by applying discipline to myself in the food I eat. I regularly go to the gym – doing different kinds of body weight exercises, taking care of my skin and preparing myself for the Q&A portion by videos of previous pageants whenever I’m free.”
4) Does it pressure you when Filipino pageant fans are expecting you to win back-to-back in Thailand?
“It gives me a lot of pressure for sure, especially from the Filipinos who expect me to deliver a back-to-back victory. And in order for me to achieve that, sacrifices are needed. I need to give my best while preparing hard for the mission I am tasked to accomplish.”
5) Any message to your supporters, fans and followers?
“To all of my family, friends, fans, and followers, thank you the overwhelming support. I hope that you continue to do so, especially in my big challenge of wearing the Philippine sash in Mister Global Teen 2017 that will happen in Bangkok, Thailand by October. Thank you!”
I say good luck in your training and preparations for Mister Global Teen 2017! 🙂
