It goes without saying that the short-listed lineup can easily change after individual performances in upcoming segments of the competition. So if a candidate doesn’t see her image in the grid, there’s no need to worry because the scored areas are not yet in play.
PS This is one of the strongest lineup of MPE delegates owing to the standout entries from different provinces.
For the past two weeks and a half now, the organizers of Miss Philippines Earth have been live-streaming the initial interviews of their short-listed applicants to become Official Candidates this year. Your blogger was even part of the panel during the first batch. By next week, they will most likely announce the official lineup that will become this year’s Earth Warriors.
Among them is a quartet of ladies who are crossovers from other national pageants.
Last year’s phenomenal woman of Oriental Mindoro in Miss Universe Philippines will now be the Earth Warrior of San Pablo, Laguna for MPE2021. Dr. Adee Hitomi Akiyama is more confident that she can do this competition given the combination of medical and environmental advocacies she is pushing for.
Louise Theunis was initially an Official Candidate of Miss World Philippines last 2018 before she joined Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 – a title she won just before the global pandemic took its toll on everyone. She is now ready to represent Carrascal, Surigao del Sur in MPE2021 and is certain that taking the risk of vying for another crown is worth it. Keep in mind that she was also National Director of Miss FIT Philippines.
Angelie Aubrey Asuncion was Binibini 40 during the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 batch. She is also a very good acoustic singer who did well during the Talent Competition that time. After keeping it low-key for the past two years, she is back with a more refreshing look and styling – something that will make her stand out in MPE2021.
On the other hand, Gail Ventic was Binibini 1 during Bb. Pilipinas 2016. Like Angelie above, she was fielded in the competition by Kagandahang Flores. Right after her first national pageant experience, she returned to her job as Flight Attendant of Air Asia. She is bringing back maturity this year. And MPE2021 is the right pageant to be part of her return.
How successful will the four ladies above do in Miss Philippines Earth 2021? I am positive they will do well. I know that there are also a lot of promising ladies from the rest of the aspirants who are still relative unknowns. But I trust that the best will shine in due time to become the successor of Roxie Baeyens.
During last Friday’s pre-judging and finals of Miss Kaogma 2018 at Villa del Rey in CWC and the Freedom Sports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur, one candidate really wowed all the judges the minute she presented herself. She is only 17 years old, stands 5’8” and has Filipino-Indian ethnicity. Her name is Rheema Alfonso Adakkoden, the newly-crowned successor of Julia Gonowon and is also the recipient of the title of Miss Millenial Camarines Sur.
Truth be told, the strong front-runners – like former Binibinis Sigrid Grace Flores and Angelie Aubrey Asuncion – had to play catch-up with the dusky beauty from start to finish and had to settle with being named Miss Kaogma Tourism and 1st Runner-Up, respectively.
In a year or two from now, you will definitely see Rheema joining the national pageants. And with more training and polish, she will definitely be one of the new Darlings in pageantry in time.
Let me take this opportunity to thank Camsur Governor Migz Villafuerte and Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters for the invite and the super warm accommodation at CWC. Looking forward to the 2019 edition!
Tonight, one of the twenty (20) gorgeous candidates above will be crowned Miss Kaogma 2018 at the Freedom Sports Complex in a big finals production that will seek to find the successor of Julia Gonowon. Hosts Rachel Peters and Robi Domingo will lead us through the proceedings, together with special guest Ian Veneracion.
Your blogger will serve as one of the judges alongside distinguished personalities in the pageant and entertainment industry.
Who will the lucky girl be?
Find out soon!
Coming soon: Miss Kaogma 2018 – the biggest beauty pageant in the Province of Camarines Sur which offers a hefty cash prize of P300,000.00 to the top winner. Julia Gonowon, the reigning Miss Kaogma, is also the reigning Miss Millenial Philippines. And CamSur Governor Migz Villafuerte – along with Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters – are leaving no stones unturned to make this year’s edition the biggest and grandest yet.
In line with this, your blogger has been invited to judge on May 25, with the likes of Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel de Leon and Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Finalist Sandra Lemonon also in the panel.
The lineup of candidates this year is made even brighter with the presence of two (2) Binibinis – Sigrid Grace Flores and Angelie Aubrey Asuncion. This could be a fight to the finish for both including the likes of Candy Vollinger and Jian Cayla Salazar.
Now since we just finished another Election Day nationwide, have you exercised your right to vote today? Both Migz and Rachel show proof that they did.
Watch out for my blog report about the finals of this pageant next week!
The Province of Albay has always been a rich source of beautiful Filipinas for enlisting in national pageants. And the force of the Albayanas continues in Bb. Pilipinas 2018 with the presence of #Binibini10 Kayesha Clauden Chua and #Binibini28 Angelica Mae Corbe from Legazpi City, #Binibini20 Catriona Gray from Oas and #Binibini40 Angelie Aubrey Asuncion from Tabaco City – all gorgeous but with different personal styles for the competition.
Aubrey – she who sings so much like Sitti Navarro – is actually a morena deadringer for actress Janine Gutierrez in person. And once she uses her piercing set of eyes to the max, then one can’t help but be taken in by her charms.
Angel – she who belly-dances like a sweet Turkish delight – is the most pageant-exposed among the four given her rich experience in beauty contests – both provincial and regional levels. She is also a joy to converse with.
Kayesha – she who has been said to move and project like Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa – is the type of opponent who never misses a beat in setting her game plan into motion. She goes into action mode the minute she steps into the spotlight.
And Catriona – she who is now the current subject of many online criticisms for being the #1 pick of most and the overrated choice for the rest – continues to be one of the Binibinis with the Golden Halo in the eyes of the individuals whose decision matters and the large fan base rallying behind her bid.
Dear readers, this year’s beauty derby is not the easiest to assess given the choices of potential winners we need to base our predictions from. Given that, how are you scoring the four ladies above?
Fifteen (15) Binibinis performed during the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Talent Competition held at the Farmers Plaza Activity Area earlier. Seven of them sang, five of them danced, one played the keyboard, another one did folk dance-cum-rhythmic gymnastics and the last did a dog obedience act with her two beloved canines onstage.
At the end of it all – and if I were a judge – the three best talents would belong to If I had to score my Top 3 in the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Talent Competition, the singers will definitely place on top starting with #Binibini20 Catriona Gray with her version of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”
Here is the second of my Top 3 – #Binibini40 Angelie Aubrey Mariño Asuncion with her adaptation of Sitti Navarro’s “Para Sa Akin”
Lastly, here is #Binibini8 Shane Quintana Tormes with her rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “(Just like A) Natural Woman”
Now I have to give props to #Binibini14 Samantha Mae Bernardo for showing a unique talent. She danced a folk number with a liquid-filled glass on top of her head and then segued to a display of her skills in rhythmic gymnastics using the hula hoop.
More talent videos in my next post, dear readers!
Every year for the past few, the Bb. Pilipinas Official Candidates make their usual visits to Manhattan Garden City, the well—appointed condominium buildings at the Araneta Center developed in cooperation with Megaworld Properties. The Binibinis of 2018 just dropped by the place this week and appreciated the cool digs that can be called #HomeForTheQueens.
Here are some photos of the ladies during the said activity.
Since I have already posted their respective “In the Spotlight” features before the personal interview videos were uploaded by the Bb. Pilipinas Official page on FB, I thought of sharing three (3) of them for you to watch and give comments once more.
Here are your #Binibini2 Kathrine Ventura, #Binibini4 Ana Patricia Asturias and #Binibini40 Angelie Aubrey Asuncion:
