It has been a long and fulfilling month’s journey for the Environmental Heroines of Miss Earth 2017. As of the final headcount during the Press Presentation held last Monday, eighty-four (84) delegates remain in contention for this year’s crown. At the end of the Finals this coming Saturday, four of them will be wearing the elemental crowns and only one among the four will reign supreme as the best of the best.
Here now is a Fearless Forecast with my Top 16 presented in four (4) quadrants – in reverse order – starting with the 13th-16th all the way (scrolling) down to 1st to 4th:In my rankings from top to bottom now:
Since Day 1, Thailand’s Paweensuda “Fahsai” Drouin has proven that the Miss Earth 2017 crown is hers to lose. So it was really up to her on how to sustain the momentum and carry the torch all the way to the homestretch. While there were a few small bumps and hiccups along the way, she really managed to convert even the initial non-believers with her gift of gab and an impressive way of articulating her thoughts for the environment while making every word that comes of her mouth worth listening to. She is definitely a good spokesperson, in addition to a statuesque height, beautiful face and all-around engaging personality. A very credible Public Relations representative, if I may add. She nailed the Beauty of Intelligence Prejudging, and that could be the best proof of her qualifications for the job.
The three other ladies in the Elemental Court are not to be taken for granted as well. But individually, there are still missing factors that could make them topple the impressive showing of the Thai delegate. Among the three, Juliana Franco of Colombia speaks English the best, followed in limited quantity by Ninoska Vasquez of Venezuela and Lessie Giller of Ecuador with a more limited supply. But their individual beauty and charm are undeniable. Juliana has the regal bearing, Ninoska the Goddess-like appeal and Lessie the youthful joie-de-vivre. They should provide excellent support to Fahsai should my predictions prove accurate.
Potential spoilers, in my opinion, could come from the second quadrant with Andreia Gibau of the USA and Faith Landman of the Netherlands threatening to steal the limelight from one of my Top 4. They also have the right qualities for the victory but have not peaked strongly enough. The Top 8 Q&A is their source of strength going into the Final round, just as this is also the elbow room Karen Ibasco of the Philippines needs to squeeze into the crowned spots. Bianca Kronsteiner of Austria can also rely on her good speaking ability and a beautiful face to save the day for her bid.
As far as the 9th to 16th placers in my list are concerned, there are a few hidden gems who can move up if the breaks work in their favor, such as Erika Parker of Panama, Maria Jose Castañeda of Guatemala and Karla Aponte of Puerto Rico. Will one of them prove successful by a long shot come Saturday night? That we’ll have to see.You can watch the Live Telecast of the Miss Earth 2017 Finals on cable TV via FoxLife (formerly Star World) or the Live Streaming to be provided by Rappler.
