When Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann guested on ANC’s Headstart with host Karen Davila, she spoke at length about what drives her, advocacy-wise. Actually, we already know that her focus is on education or PREP (Promoting Rural Education in the Philippines). Watch the video below as she gives us clearer insights on her Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) Project, while answering other interesting questions along the way.
By the way, mentor Jonas Gaffud accompanied her in the said guesting.

Breaking Update from Laura Lehmann herself:
“Hi Tito! Saw your article about my BWAP. 🙂 Thanks for featuring me. 🙂 After discussing with the MWP Organization, we are opting to showcase and support the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center since this is the official partner of Miss World Philippines. Because of this, that project might be my BWAP for Miss World instead, bearing in mind the urgency and level of need that the hospital requires, since it really needs our help at the moment. 🙂 Just wanted to clarify in case anyone got confused. ❤️
Obviously, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa is getting the lion’s share of posts because the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant will be starting soon and she will be joining the other candidates in Doral Miami starting Sunday.
In the meantime, do watch her guesting on ANC’s Headstart where she was interviewed by host Ginger Conejero on the preparations for the big challenge up ahead.

First off, the video of the TV guesting of Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago and Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti on ANC Headstart this morning can already be seen below. Thanks to Pageant KEENOPh for taking the time to upload the whole clip on YouTube.
Both ladies looked really good during the interview with host Karen Davila. And they answered all the questions with confidence and clarity.

One part that stood out for me, though, was when Karen asked Bea Rose how she prepared and why she won last year’s Miss International crown. The latter went about explaining that she did everything by the books, like knowing and emulating the kind of women the Japanese people love among many other strategies. And she rattled adjectives like soft, gentle, caring, sweet, lady-like. To this, the former quickly responded with something like “but really you’re not?” That witty remark from the host floored me a bit.
Go watch it now and find out Bianca’s planned speech on why she wants to win the title. Then return here to give your two cents! 😉

Now that the interview has been uploaded on YouTube, time to analyze her one-on-one with Karen Davila on ANC Channel’s Headstart.
I like it best when she said, “…in the competition, I know I can deliver…”
And I know that she will give it her best. Let’s stop using Miss World 2013 Megan Young as the barometer of her English communication skills. It just isn’t fair. When someone speaks English as a second language in Miss Universe, the important thing is to put your message across clearly without even sounding like an American or a trained call center agent. After all, there is no place for grammar nazis to breathe down a candidate’s neck once in front of the judges during closed door interviews. Cut her some slack. 😉
If there is one thing we should wish for is that she be gifted with nerves of steel during the most crucial moments of competition. Even the best of contenders fall by the wayside when the going gets tough.
Before Ariella ‘Ara’ Arida was green-lighted by her parents to join beauty pageants, she had to commit completion of her Chemistry degree at University of the Philippines-Los Banos. Once over and done with, she started focusing her eyes on a lifelong dream – to become a beauty queen. Her first attempt was not successful. She took part in Miss Philippines Earth 2012 as Miss Municipality of Alaminos, but never got to the top.
The experience did not dampen her spirit. And instead, she made a quick resolve to join her second but only after she was taken in and trained by topnotch Aces & Queens. This time around, she covered all bases and diligently followed the game plan to the letter. The rest is history. She is now Miss Universe Philippines 2013
Below is a photo collage of Ara from last year to the present. Videos of her Bb. Pilipinas 2013 performance, exclusive interview with OPMB Worldwide and guesting on ANC follow. Enjoy!

Just wanted to share Miss Universe 2012 1st Runner-Up Janine Tugonon’s guesting on ANC’s Headstart with Karen Davila. In the program, she shared a lot more tidbits about herself and the Miss Universe experience.
One of the more environmentally eloquent candidates in Miss Philippines Earth 2012 is the representative of the Province of Negros Oriental. She is Glenna Christina Duch, 18, and a Business Management major of Silliman University. I have seen one of her guestings on the ANC Channel, and boy, can she speak with a lot of sense. If not for her less than impressive height of 5’4″ – for international standards, that is – I would gladly put her on top in an instant. Following the likes of petite winners Athena Imperial and Psyche Resus, having another vertically challenged bet for Miss Earth does not sit too well with pageant fans and followers. But if a creditable height is not a consideration, she would make a wonderful Queen of the Environment. For sure, Samantha Purvor and Kathleen Subijano will not let their guards down in her presence, though. Let’s see who will come out fiercest in the end. 😉
