It’s showtime, dear readers.
The stage at Versailles looks like an improvement from last year’s. Instead of just one fiberglass ramp crossing the length of the pool, there are now two half-moon curved structures where the ladies can glide without bumping into each other.
Audio problems during the telecast plagued the opening, but was restored after the video introducing each delegate and just before the first commercial break. It would have been a fun lively opening theme – if only it wasn’t unceremoniously muted.
Hosts (husband-and-wife team) Oli Pettigrew and Linda Black are very energetic. Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry was featured to give a collective thanks to everyone who helped the ST Yolanda victims.
It’s a pity the audio is going on-and-off.
Judges are being introduced now, predominantly Filipino with the board headed by Lorraine Schuck herself.

Okay, the flimsy shawls are distracting.
But the relative standouts in swimsuits are Thailand, Venezuela, Philippines, South Africa, France, Spain and Mexico.
Guest performer David Pomeranz serenading the delegates (in evening gowns) who did not make it to Top 16.
The Top 16 will compete next in the Evening Gown Competition.
It’s odd that Wrecking Ball is being played during Evening Gowns.
Standouts in Evening Gowns are Mexico, France, Thailand, Spain, Philippines, Mauritius, South Africa and Venezuela (Alyz was best in this segment, imo).

Mexico – most risky thing she has done is joining the pageant
Thailand – biggest threat to Mother Earth is human behavior. Bad human behavior affects the Earth.
Poland – God allows natural disasters to happen so that bad people can be shown how to love everyone.
Philippines – About ST Yolanda, Mother Earth is sad about environmental problems and is a wakeup call to take care of the environment.
Venezuela – Eco-Tourism is important because we as people are also responsible for destroying the earth.
Serbia – a woman is an Earth Warrior because what is inside is more important, share happiness and take care of planet.
Philippines aced her interview. Thailand and Venzuela actually made a lot of sense with theirs. Austria is also good.
