More than three months after being crowned as Reyna ng Aliwan 2019 during this year’s Aliwan Fiesta, Nicole Borromeo (of Sinulog Festival of Cebu) was stripped of the title when the organizers finally reached a decision to make the bold move when the Cebuana joined Miss Millennial Philippines 2019 – a direct violation of the stipulations in her contract which she and her manager conformed to prior to winning the annual festival-themed national competition last May.
In her place, 2nd Runner-Up Roi Neeve Comanda of Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City was chosen to take over the unfulfilled reign, and was given her ceremonial crowning during a Press Conference held at the Davao Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
To continue what Borromeo (right photo
) is now unable to do, Neeve will be the one to tour around the Philippines and grace the various festivals in the country in preparation for the next Aliwan Fiesta. She reigned as Miss Baguio Tourism last year. She is 20 years old and a freshman Tourism major at the University of the Cordilleras.
Best of luck to the new Reyna Ng Aliwan!
Last night at the CCP Complex in Pasay City, Nicole Borromeo – representing the Sinulog Festival of Cebu – was crowned Reyna ng Aliwan 2019 in the annual competition and automatically became the Festival Queen of All Festivals. She also gifted her province its 9th win, strengthening Cebu’s excellent record in the search. She effectively followed the trail set by the likes of previous titleholders Jamie Herrell, Karla Henry, Cynthia Thomalla, Rogelie Catacutan, Angeli Dione Gomez, Marla Alforque, Steffi Pearson Aberasturi, Sian Maynard and the late Rizzini Alexis Gomez.
It’s only now that I am posting her video during the Q&A in the Pageant Night that I chaired for Aliwan Fiesta 2019. In it, she explained why Cebuanas have continuously dominated the search since its inception.
Below is the complete set of winners:
Nicole Borromeo – Sinulog Festival of Cebu
Aubrhie Cindyrelle Carpio – Singkaban Festival of Bulacan
(Three) 2nd Runners-Up:
Leandrea Batingan – Tanglawan Festival of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
