A more interesting set of mentors (left to right): Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2000 Nina Ricci Alagao.
Ali Forbes is still the host
Pinay Beauty Queen Academy is definitely upping the ante for its 2nd Season. With its eventual winner becoming the country’s official representative to Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand, the show has introduced four (4) new mentors and they are Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles, Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee and Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2000 Nina Ricci Alagao. The four will be joined by Wilma Doesnt who will act as the Training Supervisor of the contestants.
This early, I have a feeling that the reality beauty search will attract more potential candidates (read: higher quality of joiners) to complete the list of forty (40) they are planning to begin with.

Ali Forbes continues on as the show’s host, just as Season 2 has stayed put with GMA News TV as the airing network.
Watch out for more about the show’s regional screenings in the coming weeks ahead!
Season 2 will start screening very soon!
Season 2 of the Reality Pageant search on TV will have its winner sent to MGI2015
Miss Grand Philippines – the title – will no longer exist this year. In its place, there will be a Pinay Beauty Queen Grand International 2015 who will be the successor of last year’s Kimberly Karlsson. And the winner of Season 2 of the reality TV pageant search will be going to Bangkok, Thailand come October.
Since John dela Vega and Ali Forbes will continue to be involved in the same, there’s really no issue at all when it comes to calling the winner as such and not Miss Grand Philippines 2015. It’s a pity the winner of Season 1 can no longer lay claim to this new development. Joana Angelica Romero would have been one happy lady.
Alas, the rightful rep will still be determined by May 2015.
Watch out for this on GMA News TV! 😉
The Season 2 winner will represent the Philippines in Miss Grand International 2015
P.S. I wonder how MGI owner Nawatt Itsaragrisil feels about this. If oyu ask me, he should be happy with the televised search.

When Ali Forbes failed to make it as an Official Candidate of Bb. Pilipinas 2015 last night, my heart went out for her. It wasn’t just because she should’ve already been a shoo-in after placing as 2nd Runner-Up during Bb. Pilipinas 2012 (and later on promoted to 1st Runner-Up after Elaine Kay Moll was given the title of Miss Supranational Philippines 2012
). The girl simply wants to give the nationals another try before finally leaving her colorful pageant career behind. After all, once a Binibini, always a Binibini. And if it is in her fate to nail a crown, then so be it. Otherwise, she will have no regrets or what-ifs when she looks back in the future and asks questions that she can no longer have clear answers to if she didn’t make the second attempt.

But her big dream was nipped in the bud less than 12 hours ago as this post was uploaded. I can share all the songs she has sung in all her previous lounge gigs to reflect the kind of emotions she must be feeling right now (a lot of them could be applicable amyways) . But I decided to go with one video where she is being shown singing “Going Out of My Head” during a bar set. The song is so apt if the wishful recipient is the Bb. Pilipinas crown.

Chin up, Ali!
There could be a different kind of silver lining out in the sky for you. It may not be visible by way of a Bb. Pilipinas crown, but it will most likely be something else that should make for the still-fresh heartbreak. 🙂
The 12 who screened for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 yesterday, January 6.
The screening committee
Here are the first twelve (12) ladies who screened for Bb. Pilipinas 2015 yesterday, January 6. Forgive me if I can only identify ten (10) of them as not all the names were made available by BPCI. According to the pin numbers:
1) Alaiza Malinao
2) Ann Colis
3) Kimverlyn Suiza
4) Maolin Yalung
6) Anabel Christine Tia
7) Caneille Santos
8) Ina Dominica Guerrero
10) Anja Peter
11) Ali Forbes
12) Hannah Ruth Sison
If you know the names of the two unidentified ones, please feel free to post a reply.
Without a doubt, Bb. Pilipinas 2014 2nd Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison stood out among the first dozen.
An easy standout, Hannah Ruth Sison
Tomorrow and Friday, the screenings will continue at Araneta Coliseum. The screening committee headed by Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta plus a couple of our reigning titleholders and BPCI Officials will continue with the task of finding the best ladies to comprise this year’s batch of contenders. 😉
From last year’s batch alone, Hannah, Pia, Kimverlyn and Anabel will rejoin
Ali Forbes already screened yesterday
During yesterday’s screening of Bb. Pilipinas 2015, four of the five ladies in this post have already filed their application – all of them repeaters. There is last year’s 2nd Runner-Up Hannah Ruth Sison, aside from 2012’s 2nd Runner-Up (promoted to 1st Runner-Up after Elaine Kay Moll was given the Miss Supranational Philippines title
) Ali Forbes. Two of the 2014 Official Candidates have also joined them – Kimverlyn Suiza and Anabel Christine Tia. And between tomorrow and Friday, Bb. Pilipinas 2013 Runner-Up (and Bb. Pilipinas 2014 finalist
) Pia Wurtzbach will also follow suit.
At the rate things are going, this year’s edition of the nationals is looking more and more like the year of the repeaters. And I’m not yet counting in the likes of Patricia Ejercitado and Nichole Manalo who are also being talked about as taking part again.
The good thing about these ladies is that they have already polished themselves way ahead of the newbies/first-timers who will enlist as well. And if BPCI would care to look at the progressive side of things, making them win most of the crowns could equal less effort in basic training and focus on the more demanding parts of international pageant participation.
One setback I can see, though, is that – except for 22 year-old Ali Forbes – none among them can vie for Bb. Pilipinas International anymore due to age restrictions of the Japan-based tilt. But hey, there are four more honors to fight for. 😉

Joanna during the Q&A portion
She was Binibini 3 during Bb. Pilipinas 2014. And now, she can lay claim to a victory all her own.
KF-trained Joanna Angelica Romero drew on her rich pageant experience in the regional and national level, plus the guidance of the reality program’s resident mentors (she got assigned to Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman), to land on top and be crowned the Grand Winner of Pinay Beauty Queen Academy Season 1. The final challenge is the pageant itself that was aced by the pretty Bicolana in practically all fronts. She is followed by 2nd Placer Janelle Olafson and 3rd Placer Katrina Verde.

Congratulations to the Top 3 and Joanna in particular. Will we get to see her presence felt even more in 2015? 😉
Tonight, the Season 1 finale of Pinay Beauty Queen Academy – to be hosted by Ali Forbes and Lance Raymundo – will go live at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre of Resorts World Manila where the final challenge will be revealed and one top winner selected from the remaining contenders.
There is no confirmation yet on whether the #1 placer will be automatically fielded in one of the national beauty contests for 2015, but suffice it to say that whoever she is will have the right amount of confidence and transformation to enlist in the likes of MPE or Mutya.
By the way, the TV telecast of the finals will air tomorrow night at 9:45PM on GMA News TV. 😉
