Behold your #Binibini16 Alexandra Mae Rosales of Laguna in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Richard Barretto of HITOMI:
Ani Ng Laguna
(Notes from the designer)
This traditional costume is made of 100% indigenious materials, the base is made up of Banig cloth which signifies the simple living of Lagunenos and Lagunenses.
Adorned with different shapes and sizes of wooden beads which represents the rich culture and tradition and of course the different tourist attractions of Laguna, the flourescent colors represents the Grandeous Festival of the Province of Laguna which is the ANILAG (Ani ng Laguna) Festival which is celebrated yearly every March as a form of thanks giving to God for the Bountiful harvest from the Laguna Lake to the Rice fields and Farms.

Just as I had thought, splitting the second batch of Bb. Pilipinas 2020 candidates right in the middle would prove to be hard – especially with the fifth and sixth because the former will automatically be part of the upper half.
At any rate, #Binibini13 Samantha Bernardo is my hands-down top pick for this group. She who has been runner-up long enough to prove her loyalty to BPCI, apart from being the crown-worthiest of the ten. This Palaweña is eyeing Supranational, not surprisingly. She has practically “ceded” the International crown to Vickie Rushton as early as the day she decided to sign up for the third time.
Now as far as the second and third here, I am giving the slight edge to #Binibini18 Karen Laurrie Mendoza of Iloilo because – outside of Vickie – she fits the template of Miss International nicely. She has almost the same bone structure and height as Bea Rose Santiago, not to mention observations that Madame SMA started to take a shine on her in all the activities before the quarantine period.
#Binibini11 Maureen is third in rank for me. She is the toughest opponent of Sam B. for Supranational. But in all honesty, I can see her being more appropriate for Grand International instead.
My fourth and fifth are potential spoilers. #Binibini16 Alexandra Mae Rosales and #Binibini19 Kimberly Anne Tiquestiques. Both tall and promising, their distinctly Pinay beauties can suit up well for a lesser title or runner-up placement if fate dictates the two of them to shine that far.
How about you, dear readers? Who belongs to your upper half among Binibinis 11-20?
P.S. My 6th in this group is #Binibini14 Hazel Ortiz.
Cherry blossoms in June!

The next group of ten will follow in a day or two so you can appreciate this second batch for now.

After the release of the new sets of official photos and yesterday’s Ever Bilena Beauty Tour by the Bb. Pilipinas 2020 candidates, normannorman.com is sharing with you his 2nd Round Picks that should set up things nicely for the Press Presentation that will happen on March 17. Take note that I arranged the #Binibinis according to the order of my preference and not by numbers anymore:
Samantha Bernardo of Palawan
Karen Laurrie Mendoza of Iloilo
Gabrielle Basiano of Borongan, Eastern Samar
Hannah Arnold of Masbate
Patrizia Garcia of Manila
Honey Cartasano of Rizal
Alexandra Mae Rosales of Laguna
Cindy Obeñita of CDO, Misamis Oriental
Vickie Marie Rushton of Negros Occidental
Carina G. Cariño of La Union
Hazel Ortiz of Pasig
Pat Babista of Quezon Province
Francesca Taruc of Angeles City, Pampanga
Danica Joy Acuña of Romblon
Maureen Montagne of Batangas
Alexandra Faith Garcia of Olongapo
Jash Dimaculangan of Camarines Sur
Samantha Alexandra Panlilio of Cavite
Shanon Tampon of Caloocan
Kimberly Anne Tiquestiques of Balagtas, Bulacan
As of today, the competition is still wide open for all the ladies. The leaderboard, though, is starting to take shape more clearly, such that if the Grand Coronation Night will happen later, the potential titleholders are Samantha Bernardo, Karen Laurrie Mendoza, Gabrielle Basiano, Hannah Arnold and Patrizia Garcia, with Honey Cartasano and Alexandra Mae Rosales as runners-up.
But with the remaining pre-pageant counting more than a month and a half to go, anything can still happen. Samantha Bernardo is looking like my only surefire winner at this point.
Here are Binibinis from Laguna, CDO Misamis Oriental and Manila. Do you consider them underdogs in Bb. Pilipinas 2020?
Alexandra Mae Rosales
After yesterday’s release of the Raymond Saldaña Official Photos for Bb. Pilipinas 2020, normannorman.com is posting its 1st Round of 20 Picks for the competition. In the order by which they are numbered now:
#Binibini1 Samantha Alexandra Panlilio
#Binibini4 Patrizia Garcia
#Binibini7 Shanon Tampon
#Binibini9 Patricia Denise Babista
#Binibini10 Shaira Rona
#Binibini11 Maureen Montagne
#Binibini13 Samantha Bernardo
#Binibini14 Hazel Ortiz
#Binibini15 Cindy Obeñita
#Binibini16 Alexandra Mae Rosales
#Binibini17 Justine Felizarta
#Binibini18 Karen Laurrie Mendoza
#Binibini21 Hannah Arnold
#Binibini23 Gabrielle Basiano
#Binibini25 Carina Cariño
#Binibini27 Jashmin Dimaculangan
#Binibini28 Francesca Taruc
#Binibini29 Honey Cartasano
#Binibini32 Danica Acuña
#Binibini36 Vickie Marie Rushton
Coming up with this list of 20 is already tough as it is. I had to sacrifice a few of the Binibinis because I initially had 23 (with the inclusion of Vianca Marcelo, Kimberly Anne Tiquestiques and Lesley Anne Ticaro). With 40 contenders, cutting them in half at this point is more ideal. I am confident, though, that the five (5) new titleholders will be among the ladies named above.
With forty (40) Binibinis vying for your attention in Bb. Pilipinas 2020, it’s not easy focusing on majority of them – let alone being pulled in by all the interest in the Vickie Rushton-Samantha Bernardo duo. But giving them sufficient exposure is essential so that people will get to know them deeper than what the photos on social media would suggest.
I chatted with your #Binibini16 Alexandra Mae Rosales of Laguna and here are her answers:
Q: What is your advocacy for Bb. Pilipinas 2020 and why did you choose this to be your cause?
“My advocacy is to raise awareness on animal rights and welfare. I chose this advocacy because it’s something really close to my heart. I have been an animal lover since I was a child and as I grew up, I’ve seen so much cruelty in this world towards them since they are not considered as important as humans for some. They are abused and exploited and it is sad that it is us who are the stewards of nature who put their existence at stake. So I want to stand for them, to be the voice of these beautiful creatures.”
Q: Has your life changed so far from the time that you became a Binibini?
”I have joined some pageants before, but Binibini is very different. I have stepped out from my comfort zone and I can really feel it. It is mentally and physically exhausting, but this is something I really want so I’m up for more challenges.”
Q: If you had the power to choose the crown to win, which among the Bb. Pilipinas titles fits you the most and why.
” I would choose the highest crown, which is Miss International. But of course whatever crown it is, it’s still a Binibining Pilipinas crown. And it is up to the person, as to how she can use the opportunity and power to carry the honor and be of good influence to all.”
Q: Lastly, what talent will you display for the competition?
” Tito I will be doing a traditional dance from the cordillera mountains, Igorot dance.”
