Miss Earth Haiti 2012 Chersonese Archange
Two island girls from completely opposite parts of the globe are on the hunt for the Miss Earth 2012 crown as well – one from the Caribbean and another from the middle of the Indian Ocean. Let’s do Chersonese Archange first as she will be the very first candidate since 2006 to represent Haiti for only its second appearance in the Mother Nature-inspired pageant. A model and actress back home, this 21 year-old lady is very specific in her environmental objective – the promotion of eco-consumption which centers on making healthier food by protecting livestock and agriculture from the harmful effects of fertilizers and the like. In short, she is an advocate of organic farming.
In the Miss Earth website, she states that
“…One must be always proud of one’s country. I´ll focus on showing the world that despite being a small country lashed by tragedies, we pride in being the first black country to obtain its independence, as well as the hospitality and humility that surrounds our people. We have beautiful coasts and an enviable tropical climate.“
Chersonese appears to know what she is talking about. Will Miss Earth heed her message during the competition?
Miss Earth Reunion Island 2012 Aisha Valy
And then there’s Aisha Valy who is wearing the sash of ME-debuting Reunion Island – a tiny speck on the World Map located east of Madagascar and southwest of Mauritius. The 22 year-old’s environmental battlecry during Miss Reunion Terre 2012 – where she was crowned by Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava herself – is: “La vie est précieuse, elle ne peut se concevoir sans notre planète : préservons notre mère la Terre.” (“Life is precious, it cannot be conceived without our planet: preserve Mother Earth.”) The focus of her ecological interest is on the Pacific Ocean “Garbage Patch” or Pacific Trash Vortex – which states that 90% of the world’s oceans are filled with plastic trash. She also wants to encourage people to utilize all forms of energy-preserving measures to insure that nature is looked after with utmost attention.
Aisha is counting on her sincerity and commitment to help solidify her bid for a good performance in Manila. Let’s see if she can handle the challenges of Miss Earth head-on.
Interestingly, both ladies speak French-derived languages – Chersonese with Haitian Creole and Aisha with Reunionese Creole. I won’t be surprised to see them rooming together at the Best Western F1 Premier Hotel (Official Residence of ME2012) in Fort Bonifacio.
Good luck to these two beauties! 😉
