As it is right now, the raging battle in Miss World Philippines is shaping up to be a toss between the flag-bearers of the two beauty camps – Katarina Rodriguez for Aces & Queens and Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez for Kagandahang Flores.
Both ladies are strongly stepping it up in the competition. They performed excellently during the Beach Beauty/Swimsuit Competition in El Nido, Palawan where they made it to the Top 7 Finalists in the challenge. And where the singer in Alyssa proved mightier in Talent (she is one of the 7 Finalists), Katarina scored it even by making it to the Sports Challenge activity.

The entire Blue Team won and each member made it as Finalists for the Sports Challenge
Both Katarina and Alyssa are dead serious in winning the highest crown. But only one will prevail in the end, and the other with a title that won’t be as prestigious as the one for Miss World.
What’s your take on the two, dear readers?
Miss World Philippines 2018 Official Candidate #14 Monique Cuyugan Tuzon
“My name is Angelica Tuzon, however I go by Monique. I am 25 years old. I just got back in Manila from living in Charlotte, North Carolina. I graduated with a Communications- Mass Media degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Being a Filipina in Charlotte, I really embraced my heritage representing the Filipino Community at Miss Asia Carolinas (2012) where I won the title.
I am currently a producer/reporter at Solar Entertainment Corporation. My hobbies are cooking and eating because it’s where I can spend quality time with my Lola. She is Kapampangan, so she has secret recipes that date back to our great great grandparents. I also love to travel. I actually took a year off after college to travel and backpack around Southeast Asia!
My advocacy is that I support same sex union and provide them with equal rights. Brief but meaningful.”
Here is an update on the Official Candidates of Miss World Philippines 2018 with their respective beauty camps – Aces & Queens with twenty (20) entries and Kagandahang Flores with fourteen (14) bets.
One (1) is identified with Galatea of Jontie Martinez – Gianna Margarita Llanes
The remaining five (5) are still classified as Independent entries for now, although I was told that John dela Vega has two (2) wards among them.
This quartet is easily getting the biggest initial noise with their just-announced candidacy for Miss World Philippines 2018 – Katarina Rodriguez, Maureen Montagne, Kim De Guzman and Arienne Calingo. And it is up to them (and their respective fans/supporters) to keep the momentum on their side or allow the other contenders to make significant inroads into the competition itself.
Personally, I would never take anything lightly because there are so many potential winners among the thirty-three other successful aspirants. I can name at least 1/4 of the rest as capable of pulling a win (but not for now). And we still haven’t seen the three ladies from the overseas Filipino Communities who will complete the roster of 40.
So all I can say is this.
Let the (bloody) Battle of Beauties begin!
Honestly, dear readers, did you expect the catfight to unravel like the rivalry between Binibinis 11 and 20 in the days leading to the Grand Coronation Night of Bb. Pilipinas 2018 this coming Sunday night? There has never been a match so heated as to incite such overwhelming acceptance, resistance or confusion. On one corner is the top favorite right from the start. On the other end, the fiercest opponent has peaked in the eyes of many. Does her pageant pedigree alone measure up to the “Versus” marquee?
In a Catriona-less edition, Ma. Andrea “Aya” Abesamis can swimmingly reach for the Miss Universe Philippines crown. But that isn’t meant to happen because this could be her first and only try in the nationals. And while those who are not on her side continue to throw potshots at her direction, she is simply taking things with queenly poise and a naturally friendly self to take all the punches standing up and not hitting the floor.
We could be in for a lot of suspense-filled moments (and possibly a surprise or two) on March 18. Ready or not, we will come. The stage is set for Bb. Pilipinas 2018!
One thing your #Binibini26 discovered when she started her Bb. Pilipinas 2018 journey is the constant physical comparison to Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond such that practically all her casual photos get the same comments. Actually, even in person, there are small nuances and mannerisms that make the two look like twin sisters separated at birth.
Wynonah never looks at the comparison as a bad thing. Not at all. But then again, she wants to really strike her own identity and be appreciated on her own merits. Be it physical or otherwise. She is a smart girl who has unique qualities to share, like having a very down-to-earth personality inspite of people getting the impression that she might be distant or “suplada”. You just need to approach her and everything will go swimmingly the minute she starts a conversation.
From hereon now, your #Binibini26 is exclusively Wynonah Buot who is out for the “wyn”.
#Binibini36 Loren Mar Artajos
There are risks involved when a national pageant titleholder crosses over to another competition with the hope of “actually” winning the crown. That could be the case of Miss Philippines Earth 2016 Loren Mar Artajos who replaced Imelda Schweighart when the latter resigned.
Curiously, Loren was second-in-line to assume the title as Miss Philippines Water. But the Miss Philippines Air (Kiara Giel Gregorio) was also unavailable and had to pass up on the opportunity to focus on Law studies.
Sure, Loren was promoted but was not exactly thrilled with the reality that she will no longer represent the country in Miss Earth, hence, the decision to become a Binibini and strike a rightful victory en route to wearing the Philippine sash internationally. She is now your #Binibini36.
Watch her personal interview video now, and tell me her chances of winning afterwards.
