63rd Miss Universe Paulina Vega for Falabella Chile
In the latest video upload of Miss Universe in their YouTube channel, the 63rd Miss Universe Paulina Vega talks about the DIC crown that she has been wearing ever since late January. It also shows quick clips of her overseas trips (including the homecoming to Colombia) and how she proudly wore the head adornment all around.
Now back to something that could possibly please everyone if it happens. I’ve been hearing some buzz that there is a chance for Miss Universe 2015 happening earlier than December’s Holiday Season. An October date, perhaps? This is still up in the air, but let’s wait for the announcement during the finals of Miss USA 2015 on July 2. Fingers-crossed! 😉
Whatever the real reason was behind Kaci Fennell finishing just 4th Runner-Up during the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant will remain a mystery. Was it a poor Q&A? Was her hair too short to be even considered within close striking distance to the crown? Was there a judge or judges who collectively gave her low scores to insure that she won’t come close to Paulina Vega?
In my books, this drop dead gorgeous Jamaican should have been the rightful winner. Hers is a beauty that speaks volumes. The short hair is there to simply reinforce her already stunning presence.
Miss Universe Paulina Vega, together with Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez and Miss Teen USA 2014 K Lee Graham took time out from their busy schedule to attend shows at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Fall 2015. And it was obvious that all three ladies had a good time in the event.
It’s the best beauty queen job of all, and Paulina Vega is living the good life to the fullest.
Aside from a well-appointed Trump apartment in Manhattan, she gets to make celebrity appearances in the US as well as travel to different countries (like Djakarta where she helped crown the national winner) in style and with VIP treatment to boot.
Watch the video below which followed Paulina during her first week as Miss Universe, and tell me if it’s indded one of the most enviable jobs every year.

On top of the Universe right now
How does it feel to be on top of the world? Ecstatic for sure. And newly-crowned Miss Universe Paulina Vega Dieppa doesn’t need any breakfast-in-bed photos to chronicle the morning after her victory. She headed straight to the outdoors of Trump National Doral and posed beside the fountain backdrop of the property.
Paulina’s home country must be in endless jubilation. After 56 long years of waiting, Colombia claimed its 2nd Miss Universe crown, and a brand-new one at that. I can already visualize her homecoming parade to be an all-out celebration of her victory. And if the current President will take the cue from the honor bestowed on Luz Marina Zuluaga, he will also declare the 21 year-old tax-free for life. Such a sweet reward if ever, yes?
From hereon now, the new Miss Universe will live the life fit for a beauty queen – a high rise condominium unit in Manhattan, international travels, expensive clothes and jewelry, numerous public appearances – the works!
Paulina Vega becomes only the 2nd Colombian to win the Miss Universe crown

Finally, Colombia won its 2nd Miss Universe title after more than half a century of waiting. The last one was still way back in 1958 courtesy of Luz Marina Zuluaga.
Paulina Vega was named the 63rd Miss Universe tonight at the FIU Arena in Miami, Florica and is now the proud first wearer of the DIC Holding crown. Miss USA Nia Sanchez is her 1st Runner-Up, with Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha getting 2nd Runner-Up. Completing the Top 5 are 3rd Runner-Up Yasmin Verhejen of the Netherlands and 4th Runner-Up Kaci Fennell of Jamaica.
Miss Philippines MJ Lastimosa made it up to the Top 10 and was able to present in both the swimsuit and evening gown competitions as a result.
Paulina being crowned by Gabriela Isler
Congratulations to the new Miss Universe!
Will Paulina be tax-free for life in Colombia just like Luz Marina Zuluaga?
P.S. For those who took part in my Prediction Contest, Miss Netherlands is the ultimate spoiler. If you have her in your Top 5 along with Colombia, USA, Ukraine and Jamaica, then you stand a good chance of being the winner. 😉
Gabriela Isler of Venezuela - one of the best Miss Universe winners ever!
Gabriela is beautiful, warm, glamorous and well-spoken - an almost perfect Miss Universe!
Muchas gracias, Gabriela!
Hers is an active reign that extended far beyond everyone’s expectations. And Gabriela Isler made sure that she lived up to every minute of her commitment as Miss Universe 2013 with the beauty and grace of a Queen, the fluidity of a spokesperson and the constant warmth of a role model for all aspiring crown-wearers.
When Gabriela topped the competition in Moscow last November, 2013, she was ushered in to a world that she could only dream of. And she embraced the responsibility with love and passion. It’s no joke to wear the Miss Universe crown. Beyond the glamour, glitz and pride, there is the heightened level of involvement in worldwide charity causes that has really made the MUO (Miss Universe Organization) step up in its image of going deeper than skin-deep. And this Venezuelan is the near-perfect choice for the position. She didn’t only look the job. She assumed the whole thing with open arms and traveled around different countries to continue with the evolution of the title.
And I couldn’t be prouder of Gabriela in particular after her visit to the Philippines last year and the unstinting support to the Cordaid Fund that has helped a large number of Filipinos who were displaced by ST Yolanda. Up to now, she is still pitching for the same.

Now is the time to watch Gabriela’s farewell video as Miss Universe 2013 before taking a bow. The reign may be coming to an end, but her efforts will long be remembered even if a new successor takes her place 24 hours from now. 🙂
1) Predict the winner of the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant and her four (4) Runners-Up. The person who correctly nails the 1-2-3-4-5 ranking wins. In the event that nobody gets the right combination, your blogger will determine the winner based on who comes closest to the final results. The cash prize, though, won’t be awarded anymore if the chosen/raffled off predictor does not have a 100% correct entry.
2) Should there be two or more entries with the same predictions of the correct winners, a draw will decide on who will get the prize.
3) You can only change your predictions once. No ifs, no buts. So better hold your horses for now. Excitement won’t get you anywhere if you hastily send in your entry.
4) Only one entry per person. No double entries from the same individual. There are those who may resort to using different aliases or email addresses. Anyone caught doing so (by our trusted I.T. point person) will be automatically disqualified.
5) Once you have made up your mind, email your predictions to: norman.blogsite@gmail.com, together with your complete name, address and contact detail/s. Incomplete entries will not be validated until you provide me with such. Don’t worry. I will keep everything confidential.
6) Deadline for submission of entries will be 6:00AM (Manila time) of January 25 (Sunday). If you live in a different time zone, please take note of the equivalent difference. I will not entertain reasons that would seek reconsideration for missing the deadline based on his/her location.
Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell greets everyone a Happy New Year without the toxic fireworks. Blow your traditional (and cheaper) horns instead.
Make your own noise and shout “Happy New Year!”
“Manigong Bagong Taon sa inyong lahat!” (or Prosperous New Year To Everyone!)
I want to start New Year 2015 with images of Miss Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell in the middle of early noise-making with the charity beneficiaries of Miss Earth Foundation.
So back to our favorite topic. Miss Universe, that is.
Now I’m not sure how many of you can speak or understand Spanish. But in the video below taken during her guesting on “Un Nuevo Dia“, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler gives out details on the upcoming 63rd Miss Universe to be held in Doral Miami come January 25. Watch and tell me just how much of the infos you were able to comprehend. 😉

Okay, so enough with the Spanish overload for now. You know about my love for food. So for the first day of 2015, let me share a 22-minute video of popular Israeli actor Ishai Golan when he featured Manila in his NatGeo People show “Street Food Around The World”. The guy is not a chef, but his wide-eyed interest in tasting different dishes from every country he visits is quite amusing. Enjoy the episode.

Happy New Year to one and all! Enjoy the remaining days of the long holiday break! 😀
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
