Whenever a previously-placed beauty contestant decides to take another gamble in the same competition, I can’t help but feel a bit anxious about her chances. I also don’t want to see the face of defeat in someone who has already left a mark in the Top 5 one-two years back (shades of MJ Lastimosa and Abigail Cruz). That is exactly how I feel about the decision of Ma. Paula Bianca Paz to give Miss World Philippines a second try after already being named 3rd Princess to Gwen Ruais in 2011. The risks are far more steep this time around. Losing for a second time, let alone falling short of a Top 5 inclusion, is tantamount to a slap on the face. Nevertheless, I’m sure she consulted Cory Quirino about the same, and must have been given a pep talk on the possibilities – good or bad.
How about you, dear readers? What’s your take on the return of Bianca in the Miss World Philippines competition?
