  1. In random order, my current Top 6 that has nothing to do with the National Costume

    Chelsea Fernandez
    Roberta Tomondong
    Nicole Borromeo
    Anna Lakrini
    Gabriel Bassiano
    Nicole Budol

    • Karen Laurrie instead of Nicole.

Making the cut (some are sentimental faves): CJ Opiaza, Diana Mackey, Anne DeMesa, Patricia Tan, Cy Payumo and Jasmine Omay.

  2. All of the costumes are worthy of being showcased on any international stage.

Oh di ba ang BBP naglevel up since MUP. I think we’re seeing the healthy benefit of competition.

  3. I have nothing against Budol.

I am actually happy to see her improvements.

But the press, as seen on online articles,
    is overly hyping her.

Real pageant fans know her chances.

    Just my two cents.

  4. I wish Nicole Budol’s cape used a bright shimmery rainbow colored fabric at the back.. That would have sent a bigger message while mesmerizing the audience. Would have made-up for her wrong information about the origins of the Gigantes Festival.

  5. Off Topic : We might be looking at history in the making at MU 2022 when Miss Mauritius might end up being a semi finalist for the very first time , given her performance at Miss Supra 2022 …

    • Do not promote MS here sa BBP post. That shady and politicized pageant is a no no for many. Chwe!

      • am not promoting MsSupra here , I’m lauding Miss Mauritius

  6. If i were to choose for the best in national costume, it will be the
Tikbalang. The natcos is something new( not the traditional Ma. Clara or festivals costumes). It was beautifully done and gracefully carried by No.7.
Budol’s natcos on the other hand is way exaggerated and overly done. Pero i’m sure, mananalo si Budol kasi marami syang fans.. Tikbalang for me was one of a kind.
Kung ilalaban natin internationally, this natcos will surely win.

By the way, nakakainlove si no.25…She is the prettiest i guess sa batch na to.

  7. Yung Kay Budol hindi naman attached hila hila lang nya😂 baka mandala lang sa voting na bayad ng manager nya.

  8. That tikbalang works well! Flowing and beautiful. The candidate is framed sexily. The luminosity is just awesome. I cannot describing how awesome it is. Just everything works well! So clean

  9. Beautiful. Anyone of these is worthy to be showcased internationally. A far cry from the Estrel’s cake national costume of MJ Lastimosa and table cloth with tassels gown of Venus Raj. Lol.

My Top 5 (in no particular order):

Mariposa Butterfly gown. Avant-garde and stunning piece. But MOST of all, the girl can actually move with ease. Walang hinihila, walang binubuhat na mabigat. Walang agam-agam na may malaglag na sandok o post-it notes. Lol.

Kapre gown. Creative. Eye catching. Big. The all white optic adds to the ghostly, mythical nature of what is being represented. Only concern is the limited and risky movement for the girl.

The Ibong Adarna Rainbow, LGBT gown. This is gorgeous. I would expect this being an output by someone from a country that always wins national costume award (Guatemala, Ecuador). And while it really jaw dropping, the silouette is not garish.

The Rice Terraces gown. This is the opposite of Less is More. This is More is More. Lol. But the final result is cohesive. Mukhang matibay at walang malalaglag na palay. A true representation of a SE Asian country.

The Frame with Virgin Mary. Original. The projection of the girl during her portion was consistent. Maudlin, prayerful, sad. Parang nasa picture frame talaga. Look elaborate but she carried it with ease.

ANYONE of the above SHOULD win.

My suggestion, In the spirit of unity (lol) so that this nation will be great again (lol) : The winning girls (Ms. International, etc), SHOULD wear the winning national costume gowns. It is time to collaborate instead of putting into waste beautiful gowns just because the girl didn’t get a title. The best girls should wear the best gowns.

    World Peace.

    • It was Tikbalang not Kapre. I agree that the costumes need to be showcased internationally. Well one of designers have been making costumes for contestants from other countries.

Paolo Balesteros clearly won this year.

  10. Best National Costume Show so far! Congratulations to the Philippine Designers!

    #AllTeaNoShade

    • Yung nang-agaw, reliant na nga sa dirty money at walang integrity, paawa effect dahil wala palang ibubuga.

  11. Graciela Lehman is my choice for best in national costume. She is the most beautiful tikbalang he he he… and I like her presentation

  12. Do they auction off these costumes after the pageant ? They are so elaborate and so grand , some are the size of monuments …
