King of Talk Boy Abunda featured Binibini5 of Binibining Pilipinas 2022 Karen Laurrie Mendoza on his YouTube channel. Jumping board of their discussion was the (in)famous question that landed on the Ilongga’s lap that may or may not have caused her a title during last year’s finals of the same pageant.

  4. The reason why I like Ricky Lo (RIP) is that he listens more and speaks less during interviews.

    Boy Abunda is the exact opposite. He tries his very best to talk over his interviewees.

    His self-promoting style shows that what matters to him are his own thoughts and ideas and not those of the people he interviews.

  6. Honestly, I would have turned down that interview. She doesn’t need him to win. She’s beautiful and had the momentum leading up to the finals. She can do it again, but it will more challenging as there’s a lot of other beautiful women to choose frm this time around.

    • This might be a publicity move to drum up excitement for a looming BBP event. As it will be Independence Day soon, I imagine it may have something to do with National Costume… After all, lahat ng galaw ng mga Binibini may basbas ng Cubao bosses, na dapat lang naman siguro.

      Apat (4) sila’ng AGAD umulit from last year – Gabrielle Basiano, Laura Lehmann, Jashmin Dimaculangan, & herself. I think BPCI will get the best; she needs to out-do the other three this time IN ALL AREAS if she is to emerge triumphant.

  7. The man’s style of interviewing is sooo tabloid early 2000s perhaps even late 90s cheesy showbiz tv 😖
    He’s outdated and also full of himself with a need to impress.
    Baffled that there are people “impressed” by him? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Same as the question of David Licauco for Paula Ortega at MWP.

    And I have a good feeling that Gabriel Basiano would recieve a simillar question for prematurely rejoinning BBP as well as Nicole Budol for simply not having the usually required classy demeanor of a Binibini… Whoever gives the best answer would probably be part of the winner’s circle.

    • Thanks, po, for bringing that up. Kasi ako, rin, nalito sa tanong ni David Licauco. The question was multi-dimensional, involving 1) traffic, 2) in the metropolis, & 3) a solution in sight (‘silver lining’). Ang akin lang naman, & I have full respect for the actor & Mister Chinatown alumnus, why ask a lady about traffic?

      So, ‘eto namn’g kawawa’ng Paola, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘alternative modes of transport’; she didn’t get beyond #1…

      Ta’s, may isa pa’ng tanong na whether or not wealthy people should be taxed more. I’m sorry I don’t recall who asked the question & to whom it was asked. REALLY CRINGEY.

      Guys, I think, naman, OK lang na ma-bring up natin ulit ‘to’ng usapin about hard & polarizing questions in pageants, as Karen Laurrie herself was a recipient… I just wonder if the judges could somehow pull back somewhat & not put the ladies in such awkward situations. No hate, just puso.

      • its the org who formulates the questions intended for each contestant based on their closed door interviews… The judges just reads the same question intended for her no matter who the girl randomly picks.

        if its the judge who created the question… it needs to be pre-aproved by the org and possibly a different arrangement is implimented to make sure that the favored winners succeed in the Q&A portion.

  10. Mr. Blogger, speaking of Miss Iloilo, did the -Binibini & -World Runners-up to Dorothy Gemillan make their respective Nationals? Hindi ko na napansin, po. Sorry.

    Kasi sa MWP 2022, si Tsina Jade Chiu ang napansin ko, & she was a semi-finalist…

    So, it’s not automatic, pala? They still endure the Screening? I thought M(Ilo)2x org got franchises.

    Similarly, McDonnell & Bautista were at MUP & MWP, respectively. Miss Kuyamis sent no one to BBP this time? ‘Di ba sabi niyo dapat ay ‘yun’g younger sister nu’ng former winner?

    • Bless Villablanca was part of Miss World Philippines 2022. Elle Abella, on the other hand, submitted her online application. I heard nothing from her after.

      • ‘Yun’g Bless Villablanca, may rehistro sa ‘kin ‘yun’g pangalan, ‘di ko maalala kung saan. Meaning, kung saan’g pageant natin siya una’ng na-encounter/narinig .. Thanks for the clarification, po.

        Regards to Kesha Ramachandran & Ann Palmares, Karen Laurrie’s co-queens at M(Ilo)2x. She mentioned the latter in her interview here.

    • Esel Pabillaran is representing MisOr in BBP. She was Miss Kuyamis 2020 1st RU. Jimena Tempra went for Miss Philippines Earth 2022 instead.

  11. Damage control, reaching-out, amending ek-ek effort.

    I have never liked the interviewing style (and the visual style) of Girl Abunda. Too fake for my taste. He interviews to impress not to express. Pa intellectual, and mostly bastos ( eg. not letting the guest finish their sentence, jumping-in to give his “superior answer” to his own question [which of course he already thought about because he was the one asking. Lol.], the overly dramatic gestures and facial expressions as if he was the one being watched [“take me back to that day during your circumcision.. lol).

    There are about four personalities that I consider were just mere products the ABS-CBN hype / spin but with minimal talent and /or disgusting persona. He is one of them. The other three are:

    World Peace.

        Pity that you think just because someone graduates from a Top University, hindi na pwedeng maging bastos, pa-intellectual at ma-arte.

    Still not a fan of Boy Abunda’s sadistic and narcissistic style of interviewing.

    • The teeth tidyless appearance … provoking facial display, loud/heavy voice that you’ll endure watching..
