  1. Impressions of an ordinary viewer/pageant fan on the natcos.
    – religious themed natcos here are so passe…nothing groundbreaking nor inspirational. Im not against the idea but since its gasgas na sana may bagong twist
    – level of craftsmanship on most natcos is topnotch
    – i dont get the idea of making natcos that makes the wearer looks like she is doing a penitentia…ang hirap tingnan baka madapa or something
    – im sold wt the natcos that highlights the natural beauty and grace of the candidates
    – some natcos design border on gaudy…like its neither here nor there…
    – may favs, based on concept, looks and presentation Mandaue, Bohol, Davao Del Norte, Makati, Las Pinas, Pasay
    Thats all.
    Overall! I enjoyed the show!
    Kudos MUP!

  2. Top 6… the rest is mehhh.. gasgas na gasgas na…

I think the best costume is Miss Mandaue, Isabel Luche… the whole costume is the embodiment of our history and culture… Its executed beautifully… I love it!

Miss Ilo-ilo costume is pretty but it is also represents the gullibility of the pre-colonial natives and the hypocrisy of the Catholic church so its a BIG NOOO…

Another Runner-up is Miss Cebu City… I love the avant garde design problem is its monochromatic which I think is the attempt of the designer to sway away from politics even though we all know the real color of our native corral beads…

Another Gorgeous design is Aklan, Jona Sweet…
But I am not a fan of neutrals… Black is beautiful on the runway but as a national costume?… meh…

Pangasinan… I like the Iris Van Herpen inspiration… but the design of the lower skirt ruined it.. it looked lazy and uninspired… I wish they just did that scale thing from head to toe…

last would be.. Lou Piczon’s Banig costume… nothing spectacular since I have seen this design multiple times before…

    • C2F….yung comment mo ang inaabangan ko coz of your history knowledge. I learn so much from your comments, especially when it comes to NatCos.

Confused lang aq when you said here’s your Top 6. I’m not sure kung ito nga ang top 6 mo when you inserted some negative viewpoints sa bawat isa. So the rest of them were really that bad?

      • Thanks..

sorry for being critical… but majority of the costumes this year are a tad minimal & mediochre compared to past editions of MUPh and BBP..

  3. Amazing costumes and great production . So many beautiful works of art . The girls are looking great. Michelle beauty is very natural . I like Celeste as well but I wish she stopped with the facisl fillers a while ago. So many girls can win the tittle this year . High quality batch .

  4. STUNNING FACE, AKLAN…SO UNDER RATED, FACIALLY MOST BEAUTIFUL OF THEM ALL
I FIND SAN JUAN ALSO STUNNING FACIALLY WITH RIGHT MAKE-UP AND STYLING
PANGASINAN AND BAGUIO EXOTIC BEAUTY IS TO DIE FOR…
I LOVE CHANTAL’S COSTUME IT IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS

AND PLEASE,,,THAT SINGER,BOSES KIKI ANG DAMI NAMANG MAGALING NA SINGER SA STREET OF CRISOLOGO. NAKAKALOKAH.

    • I agree, Aklan’s face is really gorgeous — she resembles a young Catherine Zeta Jones.

    • I agree. Two things I like about Jona: she’s stunning with or without makeup and she’s also high fashion. Saan ba sya lumaki?

I’m not sure if this is her year but I’m hoping that she joins again.

  5. Lucena is really beautiful , she’s my dark horse since PressCon.. if only she was three inches taller !

These costumes should be enough to use in all the other international pageants for Pinas this year, and they call can win best national costume

  6. Superb artistry from our local designers! While obviously with a high-fashion flair, Pasay’s and Aklan’s can be mistaken as a European natco, not Filipino.

  7. I love Michelle Dee’s natcos; simple yet intricate and elegant.
Wala talaga kahit ano pang gawin kong gumusto ng iba, yung tatlo pa rin ang napapansin at napapansin ko – Michelle Dee, Cortesi at Llegado.

  8. The photo grid of national costumes is a clear evidence that this country abounds with great Filipino designers including those unknown ones in the provinces. Look at their artistry and ingenuity and how they showcase their inventive intellect in national pageants like MUP. Good job Filipino designers! Thumbs up!

    • It also shows the costume does not have to be over-the-top gigantic *cough, cough – grand** to make a statement and show Filipino culture

  9. That face – Aklan! ❤️

Aklan and Pasay can be in the cover of a high fashion magazine

  10. Beautiful costumes as usual but to me Aklan screams high fashion, avant-garde but still with a hint of tradition. Bravo!

I also like the classic sophistication of Dee’s costume. This goes to show that it isn’t about being loud and bold on colors to make an impact. I will need to watch them later!
