  1. Possible Top 10:

    Ivory Coast
    Philippines
    Nicaragua
    India
    USA

    Nepal
    Mexico
    England
    Venezuela
    South Africa

  2. If only Miss World would highlight it’s wonderful achievements through its BWAP projects. An example is Manushi Chhiilar’s feminine hygiene awareness #freedomfromshame project was astounding for a 20yo winner. The pageant program need not be boring and unrelatable. It can be empowering and moving and fast paced at the same time. There is no need for a Fernando Allende to sing and dance viewers to sleep. 🤣

Watch MW’s The Story Never Told episodes, they’re amazing. 💐

  3. I don’t like the feeling that we waited for India. Is JM planning for a back-to-back win like MU and MW for India?

  4. To be honest I want to know who the judging panel is, I just have one observation on the BWAP video of Miss Somalia who is now part of the Top 40. The video includes images of war, terrorism and and local strife. Remember this was also the reason why Miss World Philippines delegate Katarina Rodriguez BWAP was disqualified and of course the Philippines missing a placement even with the beauty and purpose of Katarina.

In that case , this supposed rule is it now removed from BWAP video limitations? Can I say it was also the push of Miss World Philippines Organization and ALV to at least revise and update this rules. At least, the mistake the MWPh did has an effect on later editions.

    • One thing constant about MW is its being constantly changing both in format and rules.

Every year there are changes and surprises. One time JM had just one runners up (1st princess). Nagtaka ang karamihan ng pageant fans. Bakit? Pero wala na tayong magawa kasi yun ang decision ng lola. He, he, he…

      • Hey there @paul. Yeah I remember that edition, the 1st runner-up was Miss Thailand. I just hope that they would be more transparent with it but this is what makes Miss World different, its the opposite version of MGI with surprises that are subdued, no gimmicks like fainting spells onstage, tie-breaker questions on live TV hahaha

      • Thanks Riverrobles for your wonderful thoughts. There were years that MW was very transparent with its judging (e.g. leaderboard, voting systems) the winners. But somewhere near the end of the judging process, something (usually) happens that is quite suspecting. Remember the years of Carlene Aguilar,
Karla Bautista, Mafae Yunon, and yes, even Catriona Gray. Politics, sponsorships, friendships, and others thing come in. He, he, he…

    • @riverrobles: I have not seen yet the BWAP of Miss Somalia on “war, terrorism and local strife”. But I strongly suspect the reason Katarina’s BWAP then was disqualified is because it obviously dealt with educating the children (young Muslim girls especially as the video clips show) in a religious-political-war-ravaged Marawi. This is a very sensitive issue to Muslim fundamentalists who believe that the only educational experience for children should be the “madrasas”. Katarina’s BWAP has noble intentions, but geopolitical-religious realities makes it a no-no to MW organizers. Maybe, just maybe since I have not seen yet Somalia’s BWAP, it tackled the issue of war and terrorism without directly touching the religious causes of the conflict. Besides, a country known for mercenaries and militias highjacking cargo ships in the high seas, and terrorizing its next-door neighbors, there is no other issue more relevant to present than solutions to mitigate, if not end, the ill effects of war and terrorism on communities.

  5. I would be happy enough if Tracy would end up as one of the Princesses but I hope she wins.
I wonder if Tracy will be bringing with her a totally new set of wardrobe on her return to PR. Excited to see those as she showed us her impeccable style and fashion sense prior to the cancelled finals.

  6. I have totally lost interest … only knowing that Tracy won will bring back my interest , wake me up till then … if she does not win, it’s like this edition of MW did not happen as far as I’m concerned …

  7. Dalawa sa pinaka-core ng competition (Head to Head + BWAP) naipanalo na ni Tracy, ewan ko na lang kapag hindi pa nanalo yan!

  8. If winning the fast track events will be the sole criterion, the hands-down winner is Cote d’Ivoire. From the perspective of political economy of beauty pageants, the odds also favor this African country, the world’s top producer of cocoa that goes into our favorite chocolate goodies. Cote d’Ivoire happens to also to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It is significant that 5 African countries– Kenya, Botswana, Cameroon, and South Africa– are among the 15 fast-track winners. They happen to be among the emerging economies in that continent, rich potential sources of donors to MW charitable projects.

    • Hi there @scorg, cool assessment , I would like to add, aside from the factor of economic growth of a country which you already mentioned, there is actually a correlation between the delegate countries’ huge population, the country with the highest ratio of woman to man and the skew of a younger population (e.g. greater than 30% is below 15 years) hence you can see most of the Top 40 are from developing countries where the median age is young (below 30) and with a huge market that can be tapped by sponsors and advertisers.

Countries with population of more than 100 million in Miss World Top 40
      1. China (Rank 1 overall)
      2. India (Rank 2 overall)
      3. USA (which includes Puerto Rico) (Rank 3 overall)
      4. Indonesia (Rank 4 overall)
      5. Brazil (Rank 6 overall)
      6. Mexico (Rank 10 pverall)
      7. Philippines (Rank 13 overall)
      8. Vietnam (98 million)

Countries population with more woman than man in Miss World top 40
      1. Nepal (Rank 1 worldwide)
      2. Puerto Rico (Rank 14 worldwide)
      3. Sri Lanka (Rank 20 worldwide)

Countries with youngest population (greater than 30% are below 15yrs) in Miss World Top 40
      1. Somalia
      2. Cameroon
      3. Ivory Coast
      4. Madagascar
      5. Kenya
      6. Botswana
      7. Mongolia
      8. Philippines
      9. Nicaragua
      10. Nepal
Paraguay and South Africa are at 29%.

Then I just want to mention that these delegates still has to do their best, perform and follow the rules of the pageant.

Above factors what constitutes a sash factor. Hence you can see beauty pageants winners are more diverse, they should because if they do not include any colored lady, a Muslim lady or a hijab wearing-one they would be irrelevant to the consumers of these countries whose population is driven by younger, African or Asian demographic.

      • @River Robles: You’re absolutely correct! One of the economic assets of African countries is their huge youth population and high urbanization rate. That’s why IMF, World Bank and other development institutions are placing their bets in Africa, especially the less corrupt ones like Ghana, Cote I’voire and Cameroon. I remember preparing a project proposal years ago for funding by UK’s DFID and Gates Foundation and the instruction was to implement it first in Ghana before Nigeria and any other country.

      • Bravo RIVERia! Well researched ang treatise mo hija. For sure ang iba jan maiinggit sa yo because of your profound knowledge on geo-political issues. I declare you as the new QUEEN OF ALL QUEENS! BRAVO!!!!! 😍😍😍👑👑👑

  9. If winning the fast track events will be the sole criterion, the hands-down winner is Cote d’Ivoire. • @ scorg With placements in Top Model, Multi-media, & Head-2-Head, she is a CSR muse non pareil. 🙂

She must exercise caution, lest she come across overcooked or over-zealous, aka ‘gigil’.

(She might meet with Catriona’s fate in 2016. Who will take the cudgels for that, in the event? Buti na lang si Cat, maraming sumuporta. Paano siya?)

(I’m not directing the ‘gigil’ label at Cat. If anything, consensus seemed to have been that she was ‘watered down’, made to be not her authentic self. In any case, chocolate helps soothe all hurt.)

      • @Flor, my hunch is that an indigenous African will win this time, after a hiatus of 21 years since Nigeria’s Agbani Darego’s win in 2001.

      • @ scorg Talagang ‘indigenous African.’ 🙂

(Attention. Demi-Leigh, Chanique, & Michelle. Hindi daw kayo.)

Si CAMEROON, kaya? Top 15 naman siya, ‘eh.

I recall their rep when Manila hosted Mister World. EXCELLENT (basketball) lay-up! Walang ‘arte’.

      • @Flor: I maybe biased towards indigenous Africans because I have been working in the continent for 10 years. A forner-beauty-queen friend who I helped do her business plan for an upscale organic natural cosmetics line influenced my mindset that black is beautiful.

  10. It would be good for Miss World to take this time to regroup and listen to some fan recommendations. Miss World is Miss World, it has a format of it’s own. But It also needs to grab the opportunity to gain more fans and viewership by gifting its show with improvements worthy of a pageant surviving all these 70 years. Fernando Allende, big, big mistake. 🤦🏼‍♀️

  11. Why even bring back 40, when they can just do a Top 15 which already include the fast track winners and finalists.

    • @ Lily I have three (3) guesses.

      1. Remember back when we said Mdme. Julia’s anointed one was among those who tested (+) for SARS-CoV2? Well, a few of them are in the Top 40 (outside the Top 15) as given above, if I’m right.

      2. One of those countries is being considered to host MW 2022.

      3. A major sponsor for this Finale likes one of the ladies… Or, maybe even a selection of them.

Or, a combination of the above reasons.

Bear in mind that the Challenges are simply for fast-tracking. In & of themselves are no guarantee of victory. Also, as is often said, the judges may have seen something we didn’t – “the 25 judges’ choices…”. Besides, if any of the Top 15 screw up on 16 March, they’ll pick from this to replace.

(Tracy just needs to relax & clear her mind. She’s been on track thus far. Ituloy niya lang as is.)

      • @ paul It was commented before. That we should stop pressuring the organizations (MGI, (The)Miss Globe, MW, etc.) & just show solid~consistent support for our girl. And always be gracious to whoever wins. Basta tayo, hindi nagkulang.

Tracy has all the ingredients in her favor. Win or lose, she will be met with warmth all around.

      • @Flor Tula: You may be correct that the “anointed one” has not won a Fast Track event so they are expanding the invitees to include her… but I believe the eventual winner is already among the “Beauty With A Purpose” finalists.

    • I have an answer to that, in the Miss World realm, you still have the process of electing the Continental Queens of Beauty. The panel needs to elect from a mass of candidates and Top 15 is statistically not the correct number to pick one from each continent, therefore you need a higher number, hence it is a Top 40.

      an excerpt of the process:
Each judge divides his/her top 40 contestants in 8 groups of 5 candidates in each. The top five contestants in the first group are awarded 8 points each. Contestants in the second group are awarded 7 points. The points are awarded so on, and the 5 contestants in the 8th group, are awarded 1 point. The contestant with the highest score in the region becomes Continental Queen of Beauty for the Region. If the process ends in a tiebreak, several formulas are used in succession to end the deadlock.

  12. Pauline Maureen W Hannah VVV Bella and Chella are the future of Philippine pageantry .

    • Angkol all of them are excellent for MWP.

Pauline for Miss Eco International or RHA,
Maureen W for Miss Multinational or MEI,
      VVV for Miss Supranational,
      Hannah for Miss World, and
      Bella for MW as well.

      • Sorry Paul. For me , only MU .. and possibly MW MI and ME matter . The rest are minor pageants not worth the time of the above mentioned girls

      • Okay rin sila sa minor pageants. Sure pa ang panalo kol. See the cases of Maureen Montagne and Cindy Obenieta.

    • Tsupi. Papansin ang chimp! Trying to up the ante on RIVERia. Insecura ang gagagita! 🤪🤪🤪

  13. Praying hard for Tracy. She has a great chance to place in the magic 3 or 5 or win it all!!!

    • Good observation. Keep on supporting Tracy on her MW journey. Thanks. Good morning.

  14. they could have done this last month when Omicron was not as widespread
They could have sent the other contestants home and kept the top 40 in Puerto Rico
they could have finished the crowning before Xmas … this is a result of non-preparation !

  15. Apakatagal namang paghihintay. Godbless Tracy. Naway maiuwi mo ang bughaw na corona.
