As reported/confirmed by different reputable pageant/entertainment sites, the selection committee of the 70th Miss Universe will be an all-female panel made up of different personalities from seven different origins. It reads like a Top 7 where the countries of France, Israel, the Philippines, Brazil, Puerto Rico, USA and India are represented. Now will these seven ladies favor the bets of their respective countries. Maybe. But I’m not leaning on it.
There is the 65th Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere, Miss Universe 1976 Rina Mor (nee Messinger), Philippine actress Marian Rivera-Dantes, Brazilian Supermodel Adriana Lima, Puerto Rican celebrity Adamari Lopez, model/influencer Lori Harvey and former Miss India Universe Urvashi Rautela.
There are other names that floated, like Patrick Starr, Coco Rocha, Tali Eshkoli, Lyrica Okano and Daniel Rubino. But it is possible that there will be a different set of judges for Preliminaries and Finals. I would rather have the same set of panelists from start to finish, though.
Your thoughts, dear readers?
Why get the judges if you don’t trust them? Why are there so many self-proclaimed external judges? Enough! If you think you can do better than both the organizers and yheir choices, you should officially volunteer to the MUO.
Now we understand why the Universe can not be ONE! Wake up universe…Sad reality.
I drop Philippines.
Though am filipino. But Bea is not my bet.
Vietnam and Ukraine are my bet.
Low scores from the Urvashi and Adamari camp will at least be offset by good scores from Iris and Marian LOL.
No worries. If they’re using the scoring system then its safe with the “highest and lowest scores discarded” to prevent bias. The system has been in pkace after the scoring debacle in the 1982 Miss Universe pageant held in Lima, Peru where early fave and prelims top scorer Odette Scrooby got knocked out from the top five. But if they use the simple yes/no or in/out tally implemented during the 2003 Miss U, then its going to be a matter of positive first imoression. Usually though, judges already shortlist their faves for the crown from the closed door panel interviews.
It looks like France is back , she is out of quarantine after two weeks or so … getting very interesting
They should select a top 21 instead of top 16 !
From the African continent, everyone is betting on South Africa … BUT everybody might be surprised if she is dislodged from the top position by Kenya … !
sa wakas nabigyan ng trabaho si andrea!
Based on the NEW judges line-up these would be my possible TOP 10 in random order:
Puerto Rico
India
Brazil
Philippines
Colombia
USA
Spain
Vietnam
Paraguay
Venezuela
Top 20:
Ireland
Namibia
Argentina
Czech Republic
Australia
Thailand
Ukraine
Panama
Japan
Morroco
It’s a VERY Strong TOP10…
C2F, who are you gonna drop if it were top 16?
Im dropping Ukraine, Panama, Japan, Morroco..
Argentina also may not be so strong … her look, I am not sure what she wants to do, … a spinster cousin in her 30s ??? … and the foundation on the face , why is it so white ???
I am keeping an eye on Czech Rep and Ireland … they may surprise everybody on Finals night
(also listen to interviews of Albania and Chile and Portugal , very strong)
Interesting. Miss Chile I think is being trained by RL Angels (?) camp.
Haven’t seen her interview but she looked really pleasant and engaging during her Instagram live with Bea and Anchilee.
It’s closed door interview today!
I like Bea’s Black outfit! It means she means business! She looks dignified!
May katarantaduhan nanaman palang ginawa si Anne Cole, pinauwi na si Miss South Africa at di na pinasama sa Media Tour ng mga winners!
Kailan po ang prelims?
In our time, that would be around 1am of Saturday, Dec 11
Iris is great ! … and I am really excited to see Iris as one of the judges , BUT what would truly be beyond incredible , the wildest of the wild announcements is if instead of Iris, the MUorg invited Georgina Riszk , MU71 winner from Lebanon , to be a judge in this year’s 70th MU2021 edition.
She won the crown 50 years ago , a truly deserving win , gorgeous! … would have been so WOW !!!
impossible, you want a Lebanese winner in ISRAEL?
I wish that a diverse set of judges composed the panel. It is better that the panel of judges is composed of Male, female, gay, lesbian, male bi, female bi, fluid, and asexual. I know It is difficult to gather them in one occasion, but they should have tried. Each one has unique taste of beauty. Let us see who among the candidates clicks to all genders
Erratum: MUO should have tried instead they
Compose the panel instead composed the panel
Lumaban ka Marian! Umorder ka sa menu!!! Lol

It’s almost as if the MUO is telegraphing the candidates they would like to win — through their choice of their selection committee: Puerto Rico, Philippines, France, Israel, Brazil, USA, India — LOL.
Hehehe!
I agree for most of the comments,, 2 sets of judges for prelims and finals but I would like to add that 50% of the judges in the finals should come from the prelims’s judges. I also agree that judges are of mixed genders, male, female, gay, lesbian, etc.
I think half of the judges can relate with Bea’s quiet and calm demeanor. The other half could be her fall from grace: read: Urvashi and Adamari.
hihihihih…
I believe that the MUO will favor Bea to make the semis then all vets are off after that. She needs to really amp up the heat during prelims. Wag na ireserve ang energy. Warla kung warla na. Give it all na since the competition is going to be fierce with a top 15/16 format.
1) I wish they’d go back to having both male and female judges. You don’t make a better judge just because you are of the same gender.
2) I agree with some of you that there definitely needs to be two sets of judges for prelims and finals.
3) Urvashi? I’m surprised they were not able to get either Sushmita or Lara… or at least someone who made the semis. I suppose if MUO picked Marian for Philippines then why not her for India.
Urvashi was picked because she’s a popular Bollywood actress. M
I agree with the blogger’s preference, that is having a single set of jury from prelims all the way to the finals. In my personal opinion, if I were a jury member, I would love to see my choices in prelims battling in the finals than judging others’ choices in the coronation night.
Hmmm.
I actually like having two sets of judges for prelims/finals 😉 It may give equal footing with the semifinalists, hopefully taking out any favoritism that formed during prelims.
I agree. The male perspective is important for the choice to be realistic. The most beautiful woman in the universe should not be seen only from the female cultural lens.
This is a reply to @jaretwrightlover’s comment below.
I like the male-female line up of judges at MUSA better … the all female is not so realistic or practical … there needs to be male representation, even just a little
