I love Bea’s outfit
I think it’s inspiring to see Bea living her pageant dreams & doing it on her terms with no apologies or shame for being lgbtq+. Whether this will be a drawback or not, I admire her fortitude & grit.
I don’t mind that she’s inked as well. I love that it’s a nod to our pre-colonial history, with the tattoo as body art practiced by the Kalinga, Ifugao & Bontoc groups. Why are we so disdainful of the non-Spanish / non-US elements of our culture & history?
However far Bea will advance on December 12, it makes me proud that we have produced a representative who is a trailblazer, paving the way for equality and a society that recognizes & values the humanity of the lgbtq+ community.
As a Filipino, siyempre hangad ko ang mataas na placement ni Bea if hindi man masungkit ang MU title.
However as a pageant fan since 1993, the way I see it, maswerte na siya if makapasok sa Top 10. Since IMG took over, confidence at leadership ang hinahanap as per interview kay Paula Shugart. Bea lacks confidence and conviction when she speaks as I observed sa mga interviews niya. Masyado malamya. The good thing about her is may substance naman ang mga sagiot niya.
I don’t think she will convince potential sponsors for MUO having that attribute.
Also, I don’t think MUO is ready to crown a lesbian and a tattoed delegate. Magalit na ang gustong magalit. Ang mga bubuwit sa socmed, apparently into men na si Bea. Hindi kaya strategy ito na makipaghiwalay muna siya sa long time gf niya temporarily para tumaas ang chance niya na makuha ang crown? If this will be the case, kawawa naman yung gf niya di ba? Bea then is not being true to herself if pumayag siya sa stategy na ganun. Stella Araneta won’t allow a lesbian representing PH for sure if she still has the franchise.

I am satisfied how Bea transformed into a beautiful swan in just a few months. That’s quite tough. I can’t wait to see her pasarela and the dresses she’ll wear as well. And of course, her pocahontas look will make my heart beats faster once she ramps on stage.

I don’t think you’re doing SMA any favors by telling us she’s close-minded. If anything, it says she belongs in the past, not the evolving present & the future.
I also don’t know if I believe your version of SMA as reactionary. Madame Araneta’s contributions to our pageant history are immense & legendary & venerable. She has survived this long because she’s been able to respond to change. Maybe it’s you who puts the word “old” in old-fashioned? I certainly don’t think SMA is old-fashioned in the way you say she is.
I’d like to view Bea’s pageantry journey as “breaking barriers”. Her quest for the crown is a push to redefine the concept of a woman. Her persona can certainly add a new dimension to the tag “confidently beautiful”.

@John and @Thomas: Like you, I also find it a bit odd that someone in this blog seems to be showing repeated aggressive thoughts, urges, mental images and anxieties about one particular candidate, seemingly counting the number of comments the blog elicits (when 99% of the comments are his!). It would have been an admirable behaviour if the repeated checking on things are directed to all our beautiful reps. In that case, he would have deserved a Certificate of Merit from Sir Norman!
This could have been a messy, disastrous attire.

Not since after winning MUP has the blog vote been so evenly cleaved. 50~50!
But, I apparently missed THAT (first) photo, a late replacement (for the original…). On the tree is a white peony with a delicate yellowish core. Such a one exists! It is the ‘Duchess of Nemours’, & now quite probably in winter sleep so as to prepare in strength for its re-awakening in ‘primavere’.
These camp bosses – Jonas & Rodgil, in particular – MUST put an end to these dull dark-grey plain zipper jackets they constantly wear in shoots. Utterly lifeless! Ni bulsa, wala. ‘Nubeyen. 😦
