  1. It’s good to have ideals.

But life doesn’t always go the way we want/like…

Other people’s views and preferences have as much right to be heard as ours. It’s ‘free market’. 🙂

I always make it a point to come up with a Cinco Ultimo that is representative of the prevailing sentiments. In other words, dili puwede’ng puro front-runners or influencers lang. Kung Olympics or World Championships sana ‘to, na pure leader board, puwede. ‘Eh, dili…

Yes, it’s impossible to please everybody. But I also believe in the adage, ‘everybody happy, no one goes home empty-handed, we all part friends’. It’s a challenge to achieve this tenuous balance of interests. But when you seek to unify a fractious industry (like pageantry), learn from Hideyoshi San who compelled the warlords to ‘behave’ by imposing obedience. Kasi, minsan, kailangan ‘eh.

  2. somebody said she can’t think on her feet.. maybe that’s why she a DDS.. 🤮

  3. I fully recognize Steffi as one of the frontrunners and possible winner just because of her performance so far (sans Q&A in which she’ll flop harder than Alaiza Malinao).

If she wins the title, good for her and her team. I won’t support her or her MU journey, though. Unlike her, I have my principles and does not just follow a blind majority.

  4. What’s wrong with PALIPAT-LIPAT ng country?

Andrea Stelzer, former Miss Universe South Africa (1985) went to Germany, competed and won Miss Universe Germany and represented the country in 1989 Miss Universe in Cancun Mexico. She was one of the semifinalists. She was not able to compete in 1985 MU due to Apartheid issue.

Natascha Börger, a Venezuelan who lost in Miss Venezuela went also to Germany to compete in Miss Universe Germany and won. She was also a semifinalist in 2002 Miss Universe.

She is half-German) to compete for Miss Universe Germany title.

Vanessa Carreira was (originally) from Portugal and migrated to South Africa. She competed and won Miss Universe South Africa, represented the country in 2002 MU and ended up as 3rd runners up.

Katrina Dimaranan was BORN in the Philippines with BOTH Pinoy parents. She is really a true-blooded Filipina. She went to the States to be with her mom and seek better opportunities. She has a dual citizenship – the reason she could also represent the US.

So bakit kayo namomroblema? She is a Filipino (racially & legally speaking) and qualified to compete for the MUP title.

    • @ paul Speaking of which, ‘yum panbato ‘ata ng Spain sa Grand 2021 (later this year) ay Aleman.

      German-sounding surname… I saw a comment in one of Alvin Sebetero’s pre-arrival picks for MGI 2021.

‘Sus! Lalayo ka pa. Si Catriona. 🙂

We obviously delight in Katrina’s American twang. But, my concern is how the AMERICAN judges at MU would make of her… Well, kung sa bagay, right now Shivali Patel is ‘USA’ at Supranational. Yes, America is a country of immigrants. But, wouldn’t Katrina be, BY NOW, Plain Jane by their standards? Could she have won against Kim Layne at MUSA, for example?

Nonetheless, I am glad she did join MUP. Her liveliness and graciousness are worthy of emulation.

    • PLEASE STOP IT with your colonial mentality! Your Analogy is only digging a deeper grave for Katrina Dimaranan…. Justifying that she truely is extremely underserving to win. YUCK!

  5. DDS si STEFFI?! I have always been rooting for her…. but now I am totaly in love with her… She is the most desserving to win this whole pageant instead of yung mga foreigners na pinipilit maging Pinoy kuno.. Pwe!

    Go STEFFI GO!!!!
Steffi Aberasturi is Miss Universe Philippines!

      • Katrina Dimaranan was BORN in the Philippines with BOTH Pinoy parents. She is really a true-blooded Filipina. She went to the States to be with her mom and seek better opportunities. She has a dual citizenship – the reason she could also represent the US. What’s wrong with that?

      • Hoy paul!

PLEASE STOP IT with your colonial mentality! Your Analogy is only digging a deeper grave for Katrina Dimaranan…. Justifying that she truely is extremely underserving to win. Nagmumukha ka lang tanga… YUCK!

  6. As someone who is not native to the political acronyms of the Philippines, what does DDS stand for?

    • DDS – Diehard Duterte Supporter. Or it can be “Diring Dapita Sadya” which means this is a fun place. He, he, he… We used to have a local TV show here in Mindanao called “DDS” (second meaning).

  7. DDS pala si Steffi?? Then I changed my mind, its a toss btwn Dimaranan and VVV na.

    😂😂😂😂

  8. Can Steffi answer/handle difficult questions? Example: What affirmative action program should be implemented in order to combat the growing threat of violent extremism in the Philippines? or How can the Philippine Government improve the country’s pandemic response & health care system to cope with the worsening Covid-19 situation?

I think (& I believe) Katrina is FAR better in terms of knowledge bank and communication skills. So, Katrina Dimaranan, 28, Philippines.

He, he… Salamat day.

      • @ paul Good Friday (again), dear. 🙂

I think I already suggested an answer for your first question before. Affirmative action program…

As for the second one, PERA. More of it. So we’ll have more facilities, tools, capacity… There are technologies that can ‘make one person do the job of ten’ with greater efficiency and safety, but such innovations couldn’t possibly be cheap. NOTHING HAPPENS SANS DINERO. 😦

        Ano ‘to?! SupraChat? Kalokah. LOLZ.

      • Very good answer Flor. He, he, he… Good morning to you my dear Frend.

    • LOL Steffi can’t even answer the question “what makes you blush?” without spiraling down with an incomprehensible word vomit and nervous giggling.

Her political leanings aside, the girl really can’t think on her feet.

  9. I think Steffi would win MUP for being the most well-rounded in pageantry, being born and raised in the Philippines, and for having the support of the MAJORITY of the Filipino people.

Katrina would only be 1st Runner-up for formerly representing the USA at Miss Supranational.

Leren would be 2nd RUp for being the most decorated Queen.

Jasmine Umali would be 3rd RUp for being the most Physicaly Stunning.

And Maureen Would land 4th RUp for her beauty, popularity and being a former Asia’s Next Top model.

      • Says the people who’s been voting for her…
Which is why she’s always on the Top 🙄

    • @ Closer2Fame KF’s first win under the new organization. Two each Independent and A&Q.

      Wala’ng The Camp? 😦

But I have to say, it makes good sense. As a sponsor/advertiser, I SO WOULD HIRE THESE. 🙂

I can now update my second and third tiers in the following manner.

6~10 : Gomez, Falconer, Abalos, Eisma, and Campos. THESE CAN ENTER 1ST TIER IF LUCKY.

11~15 : Ramachandran, the better between Bernos and Delavin, VVV, Abello, &… Bornilla (‘coz I really like her).

  10. I have this feeling that Steffi will make it to the Top 5 but cannot/will not win the MUP crown. Baka 2nd runners up lang siya. Katrina will most likely bag the title and VVV as the 1st runners up (The Camp).

Reasons: her being from the rival camp, her political alignment (DDS), and her being a former car show girl.

    • @ paul Good afternoon, also.

For the same reason, Malaysia’s would-have-been inaugural rep to Mister Supranational, Wan Mhd. Aiman, was not granted permission by the Malaysian government to participate… 😦

I’ll have to watch a YouTube video on why Malaysia’s SARS-CoV2 response, despite stringency and protraction, has not been incredibly effective. I recall earlier this year, halos at par lang tayo (with them, at just ~ a thousand daily new cases, but with a smaller number of fatalities). I thought makaka-recover na sila. But as we see, practically everywhere now are fresh waves of infection. I guess folks are just getting tired…

I guess Indonesia also won’t participate, as they have no formal diplomacy with Israel. Which means PI won’t have a 2021 edition? ‘Ayusa’ will be last to compete, in November. Btw, Hannah OK?

      • Thanks Flor for the additional information.

Ang bilis nang pagdami ng covid cases in Malaysia in the past several weeks.

They don’t even crown muslims or even allow them to participate. Malaysia (muslims) are backwards.

  12. Two things make me not root for her – the fact that she’s an airhead (proven in all Q&As in all of her pageant stints), and that she’s a DDS. Deadly combination.

Sure, she has one of the best face in the competition, but it’s a hard pass for me.

    • Leren B is airhead too. Corazon Abalos is 5″5. Mirj Hipolito doesn’t walk very well. Luigi Gomez is an openly gay candidate. I’ll go for Katrina.

      • Hello @closer2fame were in the Philippines. Okay lang siguro ug discreet iyang pagkatomboy. Dili man. Open masyado sya. Hay nako 😆

      • @ Diana Hayden Ja! I was thinking of it last night.

What if the last two standing were the these two cities of NCR – Taguig (Katrina) vs. Mandaluyong (Corazon)?

        🙂

I am gravitating towards… the latter. Her ‘slow-burn’ strategy is so endearing! Besides, we’re not incredibly tall as a race, anyway. And 5’5″ ain’t so bad for a woman, regardless of nationality.

  13. In a world where fairness prevails, Steffi is the clear MUPh winner. If she ends up getting treated by the org like they treated Malinao, I hope she tries out for BBP/MWP. Sana MWP na lang agad pala since Julia Morley prefers fresh faces.

    • Three major reasons that may hinder Steffi from winning the MUP title:

      1. She belongs to the rival camp (concerns/issues on contracts/management);

      2. Her political alignment (kung maraming DDS, marami (millions) din ang opposition); and

      3. Her being a former car show girl (reputation/moral concerns).

      • Mahihirapan din siya sa BPP for the following:

        1. She is a known DDS; BPP & the Aranetas/Roxases are known opposition (& Dilawan); and

        2. Her being a former car show girl (SMA are not fond of sexy stars and the like).

      • @ paul She and her advisers probably are well-aware already… That’s why they opted for MUP.

        🙂

If you noticed, BBP 2020 did not have strong/prominent Cebu representation; Mercedes Pair herself eventually ended up being appointed as Miss Grand Hong Kong against our Sam 3.0.

Had Steffi joined, how would she have fared against Montagne, Arnold, or even Basiano? 😦
