  1. (I have a rather possibly silly-odd idea to address the problem with our ASEAN neighbors for whom Israel is a problem…)

(Possible to appoint dual-passport-holding halfies/expats living elsewhere, to rep?)

(I think that there’s an Indonesian community in Amsterdam…?…)

(Or, a delegate from Bali, which is not predominantly Moslem but yeah this is not intended to be a religious conflict.)

(Perhaps the geographically nearest ND can take care/responsibility? This year lang naman.)

Also, it may help to remind ourselves, too, that while these pageants are held in slightly risky-if-volatile parts of the world, the venues are much more often than not secular/non-sectarian enclaves. I would like to believe, as @ Casper said in the related post confirming Steve Harvey’s return to hosting duties, that Eliat is one such place… ๐Ÿ™‚

And that’s why they might be targeted by extremists… In any case, we can all agree that the world can be a much better place with more tolerance.

Recall the indignation that met with Venezuela’s hosting of MGI two years ago? It was the height of the economic sanctions imposed by the USA on Pres. Maduro. Flights in and out were difficult to book; even Angkol was constrained to take a circuitous route in. The Media played on the badly inflated currency (Bolivar?) and the crime rate in Caracas… Yet, naitawid naman kahit paano. Yes, this is not about any awkward diplomatic tightrope act, and Angkol found a way to come up with a ‘USA’ rep. But it is a RECENT example of ‘if-there’s-will-there’s-way’….

(… And Indonesia’s hosting of MW, where they transferred the Finals venue to Bali after encountering protestations from conservative segments of society. And what about South Africa? Megan Young and Sharmaine Gutierrez, respectively.)

  2. Pfizer and Moderna (not even Janssen/J&J) are the key vaccines for entry to Israel. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

  3. for me, Rina Mesinger is not the most beautiful Miss Israel in MU history although she is quite beautiful… for me, the most beautiful and gorgeous is Miss Israel 1973 who was 4th ru …

    • I watched the 1973 MU on YouTube and Miss Israel was indeed gorgeous. Unfortunately during the final Q&A, her last minute request for an interpreter, then answering the question in fluent English, did not sit well with some of the judges and the host Bob Barker.

  4. so baka ndi makasali ang Lebanon niyan… sayang at 50th year p naman ng pagkakapanalo ni Georgina Rizk.
pero maganda ring isama sa event si Rina Messinger n magcecelebrate ng kanyang 45th year as a Miss Universe titleholder.

  5. Rabe seems an Israeli sounding surname. Perhaps, Joana Rabe would click with Israeli

  6. Surprise, surprise!!! ๐Ÿ•Š๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‘‘ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ
Tourism, ecology, pandemic, borders & territories, security & politics, labor & immigration, cultural acceptance, faith, (world) peace. ๐Ÿ‘‘

  7. Whoever will be the our representative at the pageant she needs to brush up the history and culture of Israel. I am hope she still have time to learn some Hebrew words.

  8. C2f, stop overthinking .
Itโ€™s beauty intelligence and personality , first and foremost !
    Ysabella Roxas Ysmael, 24,Philippines!!!

    • @Fabian

Sure!.. Bella’s Moslem Lebanese surname would be a sure hit among the Israelis… ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

  10. I want Gal Gadot Wonder Woman to host , or to judge … maybe more likely to judge

    • & I also want Miss Jordan to return to MU after a very long absence since the early 1950s …

I wonder if neighbor Egypt is going to boycott ?

  11. OMG veks not all Israelis are anti-Muslim…. Stop generalizing things…

  12. Ngayon ko lang naalala na hindi nakapasok yung DDS na si Jen Barangan?

  13. Wow malakas laban ng Pinas dyan.. Israelis love us since we are their biggest supplier of caregivers and healthcare workers… Plus back then we opened our country for holocaust survivors/jewish refugees … and we are the only country in Asia who voted for the establishment of Israel as a state… I hope Maureen’s dad is Jewish!.. if she won’t win.. its a great drumroll for our next candidate since llamadong llamado tayo if Sarah Du30 whos a Jewish descendant becomes president. I smell another Miss Universe crown!!!!

    • Please, enough of those D30s.
Having Jewish blood is not a guarantee of winning the crown.
What I find satisfying with this MU schedule is, the MU and MUP winners
will vanish thinly in the air. And for me, thatโ€™s a relief.

      • @luiskie

Being anti-Duterte does not equate to being pro-Yellow. Please educate yourself.

    • ๐Ÿ˜‚ technically in judaism Sarah is no longer jew because her mother is born to a jewish father and a CATHOLIC filipina mother. Jewishness in judaism whether you practice it or not is based in the matrilineal line.

    • Wow C2F, DDS ka pala hehehhehe
Question: Can you please name something that Duterte has done for the country which has helped his supporters who are mostly the impoverished sector of our society. Has their lives improved?
What do you think is his legacy that Filipinos will always remember and be thankful for after her term?
To tell you the truth, NOTHING… itโ€™s all press release, fake news, cussing on national and international tv etc. (you name it)
The Philippines is still the sick man of Asia while Vietnam, Indonesia are continuosly growing. Growing in the real sense of the world wherein their citizens can feel and breathe the growth.
Do Filipinos feel and breathe the growth that this administration has been bragging about? NO and NO. Do you feel it?
Iโ€™ve been to several countries across 3 continents and since the Duterte administration, the cost of living has skyrocketed, even higher than some of the industrialized countries in Europe.

  14. What an unprecedented host country.
Norman, donโ€™t you think Israel as host country wonโ€™t create issues for the candidates of the arab/muslim countries like Lebanon, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and the likes?
Iโ€™m very sure Lebanon would withdraw. Not sure about the stand of Indonesia and Malaysia towards the Jew state.

  15. To host it in apartheid srael is to agree to its abhorrent and Nazi-like treatment of Palestinians. Our wannt to be entertained should never be above our humanity.

  16. Yan ang Tunay na Pasabok at know when to Peak!

Out of the Blue, Israel! Dark Horse ang Peg

  17. kahit sino padala nyo sa MU2021
    hindi na mananalo ulit
    tough 20 may chance

  18. MU must have pulled a fast one on MGI and MI. Israel is the perfect venue for MGI’s “stop the war” slogan and MI’s “world peace” whimper, not MU’s “confidently beautiful” message. What a grand pageant spectacle would it be for MGI and MI in the backdrop of missles flying back and forth between Gaza and Israel. But for MU, well, sashaying in such a backdrop may be the ultimate test of being confidently beautiful.

  19. With strong Filipino community in the Israel, Stefi will definitely has an advantage….Ayan Stefi I claim it na for you!!!!

    • although holding it in December during the holidays will hopefully prevent any type of skirmishes and everyone will be in a light hearted mood … this is gonna be one heck of a universal event , we’ll keep our signals working …

    • For the news to come on Eid Al Adah celebration is a bit stone deaf. Let’s hope that by December there will be no more exchange of mortars between Gaza and Israel.

      • @Diana Hayden What? No one is supporting extremist groups here lol. There are homophobes everywhere. Itโ€™s like saying we canโ€™t say #PrayforMyanmar unless weโ€™re anti-feminists because of their patriarchal laws. Lol.

      • ๐Ÿ˜‚ you clearly don’t read or watch the news. Lebanon is Hezbollah as palestine is to hamas. Extremist groups are very influential in that part of the earth. ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„. Hello Hezbollah is very influential in Lebanon and is considered as terrorists by western groups. ๐Ÿ™„

      • Your comparison to myanmar to middle east is nonsense. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am just curious do you support the two state solution of the UN? or are you like the iranians (or Indonesians, muslim Malaysians) who believe that israel should be exonerated into the face of the earth?

    • Freemiddleast from backwardness. Stop female genital mutilation. Stop abusing the lgbtq. Stop religious fundamentalism.
