  1. Pang geriatric yata audience ng pageant blog na ito 😖
    Haba ng comments ng karamihan and their references are so 1900s.

    • Or maybe people are bored kasi stuck at or working from home so the comments are long 😅

      This beauty looks pre-Raphaelite to me, which is a reference from the 1800s, so ha 💁🏽‍♂️

    • Not really… Theres actually a lot of young people here… it just happens that majority of the commenters here are educated and well-traveled. 😊

      • @ Closer2Fame Educated me… LOLZ… 🙂

        ‘Di ba nu’ng kapanahunan natin, ‘yun’g grado sa Transcript isinusulat MANUALLY? With each grade classification corresponding to a color – red is “fail”, green is “subject/course dropped”, black is “passed”, blue is “no grade”, etc. etc….

        Transcript ko, parang LGBT+… Lahat ‘ata ng kulay na may kahulugan… School was colorful, yup!

      • @Flor

        Ay sorry hindi ko ata naabutan yan.. Millenial kasi ako so hindi ako aware sa kwento mo.. Pasensya na…

  2. Mine is the 50th post. May I just remind you that Miss Universe is very different from Davao City’s Hiyas ng kadayawan in which each of the 14 tribes (of the city) is represented. So many candidates are exotic and ethnic looking talaga. Though may mga mestiza rin coming from the Muslim Tribes like the Maranaw or the Maguindanawon.

    • @ paul Maayo’ng aga, Dude!

      Mine will hopefully be #55. Isa’ng ‘5’ na lang, may ayuda’ng sardinas na ako. 🙂

      Ikukuwento ko ulit… I shared this in the blog long ago.

      On my first trip to CDO City (Lumbia airport pa noon!), my office mates and I got on an FX taxi cab driven by a Moslem. A companion was fair-skinned pretty with bee-stung lips and hair dyed brown, to which driver said, “alam mo, Miss, sa amin’g mga Muslim, kidnap-in ka pero gawin ka’ng prinsesa, kasi ang ganda mo”.

      🙂

      My work colleague giggled… We had a fruitful, peaceful, and fun stay in the ‘City of Golden Friendship’. And for me would be the first of four (4) visits to MisOr, and my first to Mindanao.

      • Makalingaw imong istorya Flor. Marami talagang mestiza among the Muslim tribes in Mindanao specially those clans which have (partial) roots coming from either Malaysia or Arab States. Maayong buntag gikan sa Mindanao.

  3. Bakit sina Patch Magtanong, Ahtisa Manalo and Steffi Aberasturi lang ang dapat pagpipilian ng MUP para ipadala sa Costa Rica? She should have that “Universal Look” and not an exotic/ethnic looking.

    Someone like Shamcey whose face transforms depending on styling. She can be a radiant Indian charmer, a sultry & tantalizing Latina, a gorgeous brunette, a delightful Arab beauty, a sweet Southeast Asian, or a lovely Filipina. So she placed 3rd runners up in Sao Paolo, Brazil in 2011. She could have placed higher if she gave a politically correct answer on matters of faith & religion.

    Tingnan ninyo ang performances na mga kandidatang ipinadala natin sa Latin America. Hindi ko na isinama ang sa 70s.

    1. Bianca Manalo did not place in Nassau, Bahamas in 2009. Mukha raw siyang siopao, medyo chubby, poor styling & packaging – too oriental;

    2. Theresa Licaros did not place in Mexico City, Mexico in 2007. Sent half-baked to MU, too lean;

    3. Maricar Balagtas did not place in Quito, Ecuador in 2004. Exotic looking, lacks personality;

    4. Carla Balingit did not place in Panama City, Panama in 2003. Too small, lacks personality;

    5. Karen Agustin did not place in San Juan Puerto Rico 2002. Very exotic looking, too lean;

    6. Zora Andam did not place in Bayamon, Puerto Rico 2001. Exotic looking, poor styling/packaging;

    7. Sarah Jane Paez did not place in Cancun, Mexico in 1989. Poor styling and packaging;

    8. Violeta Asela Naluz did not place in Panama City, Panama in 1986. Exotic looking at ewan; and

    9. Maria Isabel Lopez did not place in Lima, Peru in 1982. Exotic looking, controversial.

    • Ikaw nga mag judge dito besh, kay Angela Robson, para sa akin pwede siya, pero wag muna siya sasabak kung nandyan si Ahtisa.

      Wag naman masyado harsh ang comment mo, ikula mo din sa downy naman minsan pleaseee…

    • Hmmm then we might need to send a half-Latina… idealy from: Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Peru, or Brazil…

      • @Arnie

        I love it!… Some are a bit Arts and Crafts but I love all the concepts… If some of these were executed by actual costume design proffessionals and engineers, the designs could compete at International art competitions not just as a national costume..

        Favorite ko si Miss Pidiig… may pa-ibon si girl!!!
        D ko kinaya.. hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  4. Pilipina ba ito? Magiging Pilipina lang ito kasi sasali mg pageant. After that, uuwi rin siya sa totoo niyang bansa. Kawawa naman homegrown girls.

  5. 4/5 finalists at MU2020 were Latinas
    So clearly , A Latina-looking rep will not necessarily drown in a sea full of Latinas
    If u have great personality and can talk and you have great style , amazing body , and undeniably pretty face , you will do well.
    In fact , being ‘different ‘ may be a disadvantage . Remember No African made the first cut this yr . And no Eastern Asian made it to top 5 ! MU is not looking for ethnic beauties .. which means they want a Caucasian or a Latina … or something close to that .

    • Someone that even LATINAS CAN RELATE TOO!! ..Nice! Good point indeed!!.. Not to choose a Polarizing face akin to Isabela Galeria ..but somebody who has a Pan- Global look!! Somebody,to some extent,..cam metamorphose to look like a Latina,not too Asian,or perhaps Asian- European!!— very Marketable anywhere in the UNIVERSE!!

      • @ Viggo Bjorn … And thanks so much for your comment, I can now FULLY agree with @ serge whom to assign to Reina HispanoAmerica – #31, of A&Q and a MUP semifinalist from NCR. 🙂

        I think I know what the next post will be about.

        So, I’ll provide here and now my Initial 10-Pick w/ Assignments.

        MWP > #26 (also a MUP alumna, also in the NCR+ bubble), Eco-Fil > #36 (another MUP semifinalist, from a part of the country that produced its own ‘variant under investigation’ though to date seems not as ‘concerning’ as those from foreign shores), Supra-Fil > #30 (I just like her face, hairstyle, posture, and figure and I believe KF needs to redeem itself after Resham Saeed’s woefully low placement), Eco-Dalagita > #17 (paracetamol for kids), Reina HispanoFilipinas > see above, the new India-based title akin to Earth > #22 (let’s play safe and send someone SKILLED to this inaugural pageant!), Multinational > #16 (I WANT ‘TALL’ THIS TIME), Filipinas Pariwisata > #6 (I think this one’s a noob… Pero malakas), Princessa Primera > #29 (in case Continentes Unidos is finalized!), and finally Princessa Segunda > #1 (RL Lacanienta’s ward).

      • Scatter-brains ang peg ni Lola Florera!!!!Walang coherence!!!! Nahiya naman ako sa 9 rating ko sa IELTS!

    • Angkol you’re making a LOT of SENSE NOW. Correct! Bakit ka magpapadala ng exotic/ethnic looking sa Costa Rica like ISABELA GALERIA? It’s Miss Universe and NOT HIYAS ng KADAWAYAN sa Davao City.

      Someone like Shamcey whose face transforms depending on styling. 6. She’s beautiful and credentialed. But I guess a Latina=looking contender will just drown out in the sea of blonde, brunette, white-skinned Latinas delegates in Costa Rica. I believe the look that will stand out is the exotic Asian dusky look. Also, since Costa Rica is positioning itself as the world’s retirement haven for expats, someone with the advocacy like Gazini’s on care for the elderly would be endearing to the local folks. Since V is as architect hoping to design low-cost housing for the indigents, why not change the spin to designing affordable retirement communities for the elderly.

      • @C2F, well that’s possible. She should then start her sun-tanning regimen by now. The only way to jut out of the clutter and command a second look in a Latina enclave is to look pleasantly different. And to talk sensibly on any topic, especially on the topic the government is pinning its hopes on for revenues– retirement living only accessible and available in tranquil Costa Rica.

      • @ scorg & @ Closer2Fame I recommend for your assessment a candidate at the MPE 2021 as far as ‘exotic dusky Asian’ is concerned. She is a MKuyamis alum, and one of Ungkol’s Top 10 for the Elemental Court (refer to the ’68 candidates’ post). 🙂

        (‘Ay, Tito Norman! Naalala ko tuloy. speaking of New Zealand, did ABD apply online for MrWP? Is he still there? In New Zealand, po?)

      • I love Judith… With some braces/veneers and Q&A trainning she could become a semi-finalist and maybe even a runner-up….

  7. Isa na namang tunay na pinay. Pag wala ng opportunity, hindi na pala pinay. Tsk tsk tsk.

  8. Pleasant beauty is what they want at MU
    Fierce is good only for runners up , they never win

    • Correct kol. modelesque, modelesque na naman. dapat yung beautiful and pleasant pictures appropriate for pageantry. no, no, no yung mga picture na mukhang bruha o kontrabida sa mga pelikula.

    • @ Fabian Reyes EXACTLY.

      🙂

      Some good examples of ‘pleasant beauty’ are Porxild, Bint (of which you have the LONE honor of being the ONLY reader in Norman’s Blog to have seen her potential at MI early on, calling her a ‘sleeper hit’ in the Kimono Challenge), Rolene Strauss, Angela Visser, and Alicia Machado.

    • IMO, Pia and Catriona can both be fierce and pleasant and they won…

  9. V for?…. Vivian Velez nope. Vangie Verzosa nope. Viveka Vavaji nope. V for VICTORIA VELASQUEZ

    • @ john manalo Kulang pa, po, ng isa pa’ng ‘V’. Refer to the tags in the Title. 🙂

      Vincent… Is the surname?

      (I suddenly got an ‘elder sister’ vibe from 3V… Of Valentina (Giardullo-Ploy, Italian-Thai batch mate of Poonlertlarp at MUT.)

  10. Nope.

    This is EXACTLY what the all-female panel of judges at MU will dismiss…And her credentials will mean not-too-much in their GALAXY.

    UNLESS Boss JG can convince Mdme. PS too ‘liven’ the mix up by bringing a few boys in sa pagpili… NO GUY IN HIS RIGHT MIND WILL SCORE THIS LOWER THAN 9.100! HE DOES SO AT HIS PERIL. Guys are SO EASY to intimidate. 🙂

    Not a few have argued for a NOT pure-female Judging Panel at MU. May be worth rethinking now.

    • (Cont.)

      What I meant by ‘rethink’ is to RECONSIDER the merits of a mixed-gender Board of Judges.

      Mr. Tito Pageant, I suggest you NOT spread your endorsement too thinly. Perhaps not more than eight (8)? Right now, in as many days, you (already) have three (3). I would stop at six (6).

      Take your time. Huwag tayo padala sa bandwagon. October pa naman ang submission ng name ng kinatawan natin sa Disyembre…

      If I were to make a choice now AND AS THINGS ARE, #1 pa rin. As per my ‘nice’ comment. 🙂

      • I do not understand the reason behind MU’s all-female Board of Judges. What are they trying to promote? Woman empowerment?

      • @ serge I suspect/surmise (I cannot decide which word to use) it was IMG’s way to distance itself from the undercurrent of perceived misogyny on the part of the previous owner, a former Prez of the home/base country. But was it, perhaps, just an all too hasty and convenient move at the time? #MeToo came… Then we got it.

        It also feels as if MUO, with its choice of these empowered women as judges, is skewing towards Democrats… They are in the best position to know how to steer their branding. In any case, let’s just always play it safe by sending ‘NICE’. Period.

        (And now I’ve made it sound as if guys are incapable of virtue… LOLZ.)

    • Angkol HUWAG MAG-STRONG!. Di ba sabi ko sa iyo mag-cross over siya Miss World Philippines (MWP) because she has higher CHANCES of winning with the EIGHT TITLES ALV offering to the official candidates. Pwede siya sa Miss Tourism Philippines. Another national pageant na PWEDE siyang MANALO kaagad – WAIT for the resumption of Cory Quirino’s Mutya Pilipinas. Sure ball siya doon for one of the titles. Good evening to you in New York.

  11. Her incredible height, amazing beauty and academic credentials speaks for itself. The competition is over and she is ready to conquer the world the universe rather.

  12. Beautiful , interesting face. Tall, accomplished, with toned body.

    Will be keeping an eye on this one. Miss V for Miss U?

    World Peace.

  13. So it looks like a real pageant this year is a go? Is that confirmed?

  14. Tall and accomplished. Interesting face ! A BIG yes!!! We need to send a glamazon! Tall and have a big presence !

  15. Wish there was a photo included na nakaharap directly sa camera, walang hat, no hands on the face, di nakaside view, so we could see her full face.

  16. Ganito mga bet ko! Yung may mga charity sa community with a future sa corporate world!

    Mga baklesh! Hiwalay na daw si Papa Neil at Rabiya!

    O ayan! May future na kayo!

  17. She looks like Maureen Wroblewitz and Kris Bernal combined.. Awesome credentials…. If she has the best trainning then she’s also a frontrunner….

    Wow, the Caliber of this year’s girls are intense…
    Btw, Sam Bernardo is said to be joinning…

    • @Closer2Fame, for real? Will she relinquish her 1st Runner-up title? Meaning if the winner cannot fulfill her duties, Guatemala will take her place?

      • I don’t know….
        For sure she has Angkol’s blessing if ever…

    • That second picture, she looks amazing with the sultry look. The hair, the posing, and that toned body, she would be a great representative. Just ditch those eye lashes.

  18. Una, beterana at retirable na from pageantry na kulang sa personality.
    Pangalawa, bisayang tibo.
    Pangatlo, kiwing vegan.

    Norman, ano ang kasunod nito? That P_____ from Sorsogon. Huh!

    • And the blogger approves this type of posting.
      What gives?

  19. Sultry and oozing with sex appeal. She has impressive academic credentials. She would be another MUP front runner. I will keep an eye on this lady.

  20. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this lady. I find her profile interesting. Her face is a combination of Kris Bernal (as Ana mentioned) and Virginia Limgoni Silva.

  21. She looks like the GMA actress named Kris Bernal. I find her beautiful, but I have been longing to see a real Filipina dusky beauty who will represent us in the next edition of Miss Universe.

    That’s all.
