With Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens going to the 69th Miss Universe armed with the extra confidence that she will be wearing a competition gown by Michael Cinco, she is all set to wow everyone in all other segments – and hopefully do a Zozibini Tunzi in the process.
Some people are saying that the Women-of-Color-Phenomenon is still in place. I say that the best girl will always win in any pageant, regardless of skin color, race or country represented.
All solo shots in this entry were captured by Fadil Berisha.

Top 20 …. Top 10?
PANGIT is the NEW NORMAL in pageantry. Sa mga AYAW sa pangit, slowly embrace it so that by MU finals on the 17th hindi na masyadong masikip sa kalooban kung manalo man si Miss Canada. Basta 2nd runners up si Rabiya.
He, he, he…
I think MU is now a public speaking competition more than a beauty pageant. They are now deviating from selecting universally accepted beauty and focus on someone who can speak well, who has genuine advocacy, and of course advance MUO business interest.
TOP 5 Iceland-Philippines-Cambodia-Chile-USA
TOP 10 Nepal-Australia-Peru-S. Africa-India
TOP 15 Romania-Mexico-Canada-Barbados-Venezuela
TOP 20 Jamaica-Vietnam-Indonesia-Colombia-Thailand
Hindi naman sa pamiminatas, panlalait, panghahamak, pang-iinsulto… Pangit talaga syaaaaa.
Period.
SHE MAY NOT FACIALLY BEAUTIFUL TO FILIPINO FANS, BUT IT CANNOT BE DENIED THAT THIS GIRL IS AESTHETICALLY BEAUTIFUL, TALL, LONG WITH GLOWING DARK SKIN,,,A COUTURE DESIGNER DREAM MODEL…
LATELY, ANG MGA MODELS NI MICHAEL CINCO ARE NOVA’S PROTO TYPE..AND I REALLY LOVE HIS SPRING/SUMMER COLLECTIONS LATELY USING SUDANESE BEAUTY TYPE OF MODELS
FOR SURE, NOVA RILL ROCK THE LONG GOWN COMPETITION…LET’S WAIT AND SEE…
The ease with which some people can casually commit acts of online cruelty is astonishing to me.
It makes me sad—and, frankly, embarrassed–to see some Pinoy fans calling Miss Universe delegates ugly, even going so far as to post that on the social media accounts of these delegates.
It might interest you to know that Agbani Darego, Miss World 2001 from Nigeria, was not considered by many Nigerians to be beautiful. She was seen as too skinny in a culture that prizes voluptuous women. You see, women with higher BMI in many Nigerian communities (and, I believe, in many other African countries as well) are perceived to have higher status as it means they have access to bountiful amounts of food. As you can see, the concept of what is beautiful is not in fact universal.
I think it helps to ask–at a pageant or kahit in general, who gets to decide who is or isn’t beautiful? Miss Universe and Miss World both have origins in the West, so it is understandable that Eurocentric standards of beauty are promoted in these pageants (narrow pointed nose, long hair). But that’s exactly it–we ought to recognize that the concept of beauty that has been historically rewarded in these pageants are rooted in a specific civilization, the West. But there are other perceptions of beauty–and what is happening now is that there is a movement to re-evaluate and expand the concept of what has traditionally been regarded as beautiful in the West.
Anntonia Porsild, my favorite of the 2019 queens, was asked this question during the final round at Supranational: “What is the biggest challenge your generation is facing and what can be done about it?”
The first part of her answer was this: “I believe that a challenge we are facing is … that we are not kind enough to one another. We are constantly judging each other based on our outer appearance, and we’re not getting to know each other on the inside–and that is the quality that really counts.”
I understand that in discussing beauty pageants, we will make judgments about appearance.
I hope we can do so with a measure of sensitivity and respect for the diversity of beauty from around the globe.
Top 10
Philippines, USA, Venezuela, El Salvador, Curaçao, Peru, Indonesia, Canada, South Africa, Mexico
Save for Philippines and USA, I could swap any of the 8 mentioned above with Thailand
She would be one of top 10 semifinalists.
Top 5: Philippines, Venezuela, El Salvador, Curaçao, USA
Zozi 2.0
no miss u, maybe tough 21
I guess the red gown is her prelim gown👌👌👌
Pilipinas post niya. He, he, he…
Is that the red version of Cheslie Kryst’s farewell gown? Looks like a golden brown chip dipped in red sauce.
Ang KAILANGAN niyang surgical procedures – RHINOPLASTY and LIP REDUCTION. Then kailangan niyang magsuot ng WIG and/or hair extension. Go, go, go na.
He, he, he… Ano tingin mo FLOR TULA rito?
@Paul, crowning another bald lady will further alienate the hair care product sponsors
You are also right Cool Brew. Parang WALA na ang CHI as one of the major sponsors. Please confirm my dear. He, he, he…
CHI isn’t a sponsor for this year afaik.
You are also correct Cool Brew. Is it the reason why Chi is NOT anymore one of the sponsors. I remember Chi had so many Hair care ads with Catriona before. I miss those things.
Miss Universe 2019 – South Africa – Best Communicator/Most Eloquent (kulang sa ganda)
Miss World 2019 – Jamaica – Best Singer/Most Talented (kulang na kulang sa ganda)
Miss Grand International – Best in Public Relations/Most Thai (next to Miss Thailand) – iba na ang kahulugan ng maganda
Fabian Reyes has SOFTENED his stance on Nova. Scorg keeps on EMPHASIZING that inner beauty should be the basis in selecting the new MU winner.
EWAN.
KUNG PANGIT NA ANG USO NGAYON, SA TINGIN NINYO SINONG PANGIT ‘SANA’ ang IPADADALA ng MUP (Pilipinas) sa MU?
No shade but Julia Saubier, to answer your question.
Correct Madame X! Julia Saubier is an EXCELLENT COMMUNICATOR. Hindi rin naman siya pangit. Julia just needs the right packaging and styling. Thanks.
@Paul:
It’s very unfortunate and saddens me how shallow your thoughts and ideas are in regards to what beauty is all about. The way you describe “PANGIT” just tells me and the readers how insecure and disconnected you are.
You, obviously has the right to express your biased opinions, but you have no right to put others down just to make yourself feel superficially superior.
The cliche “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” no matter how old and tiring that is, remains very true in this day and age. But you know what matters most? Respect, sensitivity, open mindedness and being colour blind, which obviously you lack, maybe because of your upbringing and delayed or slowed growth and development.
Enough of that malarkey from you. You’re only showing densed cloudiness and dilution of your inner thoughts, which fortunately enough, doesn’t count in the final night of MU coronation. Keep in mind, these delegates are beautiful in their own individual, distinct and unique ways.
Stay safe, healthy and be covid free.
Just don’t be covidiot. Or covidumb.
Enough of that crabby mentality.
YOU’RE an IDIOT!
Miss Universe 2019 – I never considered Zozi ugly.
Miss World 2019 – She looks old, like a grandmother. Miss World 2019 is a joke.
Miss Grand International 2020 – I never find her pretty and I never took her seriously because she’s full of funny gimmicks. She’s OA. She embodies Miss Grand International. I never gave attention to her during Miss Universe 2014 (WHO DID?) and she only caught my attention during Miss Earth 2019 because of her pick-up lines.
Nova is (sorry to say) ugly. What I’m annoyed is whenever people tell her she’s ugly, she would consider it as a racist attack, but it’s not. There are a lot of beautiful black girls, she’s just not one of them. There are also ugly white girls, ugly asian girls, ugly latinas, etc. This is still a BEAUTY pageant. Some of you might argue that Zozi is not that pretty, but I can tolerate Zozi’s beauty. As for Nova, I’d rather close my eyes. Why settle for her who just speaks well if there are other girls who are pretty and speaks well?
@ Abcde Let’s say, instead of ‘ugly’, that Nova is ‘plain Jane in her South Sudan’, in the same way our @ paul says Aya, Galleria, Han Lay, etc. are ‘nothing special by ASEAN standards’.
🙂
For me, a beautiful black girl is Liya Kebede. I think she’s Ethiopian, not very sure…
I recall that interview M Pageantry made with Angkol, where he said that the one who wins MGI is one of the prettier candidates of the year, as a rule-of-thumb-of-sorts… Very nice/kind of him, no?
The South Sudanese girls in Miss World are pretty.
I would also add Jasmine Tookes, who recently got engaged to the son of the VP-elect of Ecuador, and of course Jordan Dunn.
@Abcde

lol You know that some types of “beauty” can be considered as “universally beautiful” and “beautiful for pageant standards”. If you’re not dumb, you would understand what I mean by ugly – ugly for pageant stamdards. I’m pretty sure you also judge the way people looks even outside pageantry.
You want to sound diplomatic just to feel that you’re superior and “well-educated”? HAHAHAHAHAH. Don’t worry, I’m not a covidiot, but I bet the virus would be afraid to go inside of an idiot’s (like you) body. Mwah. By the way you speak, you’re obviously the one who has a lot of insecurities in your body.
WHAT an IDIOT!
Before I forget, your Nova is a fvcking hypocrite.
Back to Nova Stevens. Facially, hindi s’ya strong. Kahit papaano siguro the judges will consider facial beauty of a candidate aside from any factor, kaya nga beauty pageant ang Miss Universe.
Let’s see how Miss Canada will fare well in the forthcoming Miss Universe.
That’s all.
trivia lang.. if you watched this video , you must have noticed the lady at 0:14 wearing a butterfly-sleeved dress/gown.. hindi lang pla tayo may ganun…
Voice is amazing
I think she is the black that will make it
I don’t know which Indian will make it . Australia is short . I don’t find India that articulate- she is so hard to understand . So Rabiya can be the Indian who will make it
di papakabog si almodal at andrada if ever, sana makapasok sa top 10 si canada, india, cambodia at nepal.
Peru
Romania
Philippines
Iceland
Curacao
Cambodia
India
Canada
Nepal
Mexico
USA
Canada has great presence
She will not be ignored
OT muna, guys. Are Furne Amato and Furne On(n)e the same person?
Nova’s story is like that of Porizkova Paulina, who also was separated from her family, by the civil war that saw the partition of her homeland into Slovakia and Czechia… Of course, that meant her landing in Paris, and the rest is history (‘herstory’, rather) and a gripping one at that.
I wonder what Glebova Natalia thinks of Ms. Stevens here?….
I like a lot what M5 did for Ahtisa at MI – the crystal-and-feather-embellished ‘kamiseta’. 🙂
@Flor… i wonder what Paul has to say about these photos. Paul…. pasok!
