  1. I have a gut feeling that it’s going to be the same story in Miss Grand International for the Philippines.

    Why?

    Check this out.

The PH were in the top two in Miss Universe in 1999 and 2012 and were first runners-up. Third time one of their bets reached the final two in 2015, they won.

The PH were in the top two in Miss Intercontinental in 2015 and 2017 and were first runners-up. Third time one of their bets reached the final two in 2018, they won.

The PH were in the top two in Miss Earth in 2009 and 2012 and were first runners-up as Miss Earth-Air. Third time one of their bets reached the final two in 2014, they won.

The PH were in the top two in Miss World in 1973 and 2011 and were first runners-up. Third time one of their bets reached the final two in 2013, they won.

You may never know. The PH were in the top two in Miss Grand International in 2016 and 2021 and were first runners-up. Third time lucky again?!

  2. All five finalists were strong and equally deserving of the crown πŸ‘‘.

  3. the MGI winners are making their media rounds and I saw a funny video of Sam saying that if Abena wont stand up, she was ready to take on the crown. It was a joke but jokes are half-meant. But I’m happy for Sam because you can see in these videos how happy and fulfilled she is. They will soon promote Phuket along with Ms Myanmar. Enjoy ka muna dyan Sam…you deserve the break!

Mga Pinoy talaga basta katarantaduhan, very creative!

Sabi pa sa comment, ok lang daw na first runner up si Samantha dahil nakarami naman daw ‘to ng hampas kay Abena nung last two standing na lang sila! Palagay ko in real life, magaan ang kamay nitong si Samantha! Yung tipo ng friend mo na mahilig mamalo kapag na-e-excite or pag may kailangan! May classmate ako ganyan nung High School eh!

  5. Alright let’s move on.
Parting shot: Abena was the most deserving winner taking all factors into consideration:
Marketability, personality, communication skills, citizenship (dual USA & Ghana; smart move for MGI targeting North America and Africa at the same time). I believe she is the best by far to represent the MGI brand.

As Filipino living abroad, Miss Earth has a soft spot in my heart but I must admit that production wise, MGI is indeed grander. Miss Earth should really get rid of the typical pinoy mentality about β€œpwede na yan” and really focus on better presentation and production values.

Lastly, Miss Indonesia really has the potential to win Miss Universe whereas Miss Guatemala has the potential to win Miss World.

    • @ JustPassingBy YA-AASSS! πŸ™‚

I was just thinking about the next steps for both Aurra and Ivana. Thanks for bringing it up, po.

I doubt YPI will crown a cross-over as ‘Puteri’; they’ll go for a fresh face. Aurra could, however, be either ‘Pariwisata’ (MI) or ‘Lingkungan’ (MS)…

One of us commented somewhere that Mdme. JM will make good on her ‘invasion’ of the Americas. If that’s the case, then Ms. Batchelor, I agree, can be her country’s first Miss Mundo. Her Teutonic patrician image is, imo, aspirational in her part of the world. Speaks good Inglez, pa!

But, yeah. Both ladies will first have to complete their contracts with Angkol… At sana huwag naman’g mangyari ‘yun’g ginawa kay Claire Parker when she tried for MUAustralia (though this issue has already been discussed/clarified by Angkol himself and now water under the bridge). Besides, he didn’t throw a fit when Madison was crowned MUPR 2019, ‘di bala?

  6. Haber. Time to move on na, daw.

P-R-E-S-S-U-R-E. Updates, please!

(To be fair to MGI, sa kanila ko pa lang narinig na BUO’ng ibinigkas ang ‘USA’.)

  7. break a tie
    speak tie
    wear tie
    eat atay
    hukom bitay

    utu uto
    di na natuto

    congratulations whitney houston

  8. No worries kung ma-postpone man yung BBP pageant this year. SMA has the power to choose and appoint kaya tuloy pa rin ang laban ng mga pinay beauties natin sabay sigaw ng “PHILIPPINES”!πŸ‡΅πŸ‡

  9. yes time to move on , time to talk about 69th MUniverse …
If Guatemala Batchelor joins MU , I have my top 5 for the Americas ! Chile, Mexico, USA, Nicaragua and Guatemala

I also have my top 5 for Europe ! Czech , Romania , Russia , France , Armenia

For Asia Pacific Africa , I only have four right now ! Philippines , South Africa, Nepal, Cambodia
I am hesitant on Thailand & India …

  11. Thank you and Congratulations SamBer!

For me (aside from Catriona), you have become the new benchmark of what the Philippines should send to international pageants. Be it MGI, Ms. Universe, etc.

With this achievement, you have all the license to start your own vlog. You are more qualified than previous first runner up candidates from the Philippines many years ago.

    World Peace.

Congrats sa mga nanalo… thank you Sam you did your best and 1st runner up is something to be proud of.

    • @ miss tissa Happens a lot. And not limited to the minor leagues!

      πŸ™‚

      • So FAIR na Flor. May pangit na sa –

        Miss World: Miss Grenada, 2 Miss Jamaica, Miss Nigeria, Miss USA, Miss Dom Rep, etc.;

        Miss Universe: Miss SA, Miss Botswana, Miss T&T, Miss USA, etc.;

Miss Earth: Miss Canada, 2 Miss Philippines, etc.; and

        Miss Grand International.

        Minor Beauty Pageants: Napakarami.

    • To you , she is not pretty
She is tall, in shape, with symmetrical face or close to it …. so I find her really pretty . And she’s fun and humble and articulate
I wanted Sam to win … but I’m glad Abena won instead

    • I agree , the runners up are so beautiful … Abena Appriah should try to hold back on those very long fake lashes …

    • Grabe ang mga racist comments… Napakakikitid ng mga utak particularly when it comes their standards for beauty….

Sige piliin mo yung gitna! hahaha

Sige piliin mo yung gitna! hahaha

      • @Miss Tissa….

Ghorl, I dated black people before so your analogy won’t apply with me… πŸ™„

    • Sorry but Abena is equally beautiful.
At least for people who have lived in different countries and have worked in a multi-racial workplace and for those who have travelled a lot.

  13. So sad NCR is placed into SCQ again which is probably the reason for the postponement of BbP coronation to June. I suggest holding a pageant bubble.

Juice me, crystals pala! The TEXTURE is the story…

L-I-L-A-C is THAT color Aurra is wearing. As per Siera Berchell. Fragrant reliable old-timers of the North American spring.

‘Buti na lang nag-Taft 5 si Ivana. Kung hindi, na vale wala pagputok ng bulkan nila recently. πŸ™‚

Am happy Lala finished (literally and figuratively) STRONG. Makes me wonder if body toning is already on the competitive level in Thailand. If not, she could start that trend… Parabens, beb!

Now, as to that postponement to June…

Very clear that only the most financially-sponsored high-profile candidates will emerge from the heavy mist that has cloaked the pageant. Matira ang malakas ang hatak, ‘ika nga.

BPCI, FOR ALL THE INCONVENIENCE-STRESS-INCONVENIENCE YOU HAVE CAUSED, WE EXPECT A FIFTH CROWN. Resurrect the ‘Pariwisata’ title if needed for now. Make it happen. Tutal, ang tipid niyo mag-commit. At least si Angkol, enjoys your unflinching loyalty. Don’t tell us nagpapa-upgrade ng prangkisa…

  15. Time to move on? Why not hold a simple pageant (with the candidates, BPP staff and creative & technical crew on the venue, and few judges) and announce the winners. At ganito sana ang mangyari:

    Bb. Pilipinas-International: Hannah Arnold
    Bb. Pilipinas-Grand International: Maureen Montagne
    Bb. Pilipinas-Globe: Justine Felizarta
    Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental: Karen Laurie Mendoza/Patricia Babista/Carina Carino
Runners Up: Mercedes Pair (humanitarian reason) & Gabrielle Basiano

  16. Bottomline, Miss Grand International or any other pageant company is a business.

If Philippines would’ve won, MGI will lose her Indonesian fans. If a Latina won, this will be so commonplace for MGI winners, so USA is the business choice and as a bonus, she is of color.

It all boils down to business. And this showing of scores though looks shady is an attempt to be fair but the winner has already been predetermined.

    Mga uto uto kasi kayo

  17. Miss Ghana / Miss Grand USA is transsexual, and a former RuPaul next drag superstar contestant.

  18. Sooner or later, the Philippines will win Miss Grand International. Just stay patient, persistent, and relentless and let timing and luck come your way.

As long as the Philippines tries to win every pageant in play year after year, they’ll be alright.

  19. In fer ang daming magaganda kahit 63 lang sila. Si Guatemala, Puerto rico and mexico have good future . Indonesia too. Congrats KF, taft 2 ang peg.

    Aces, ano na beh!!!

  20. Sorreyyyy… Hindi ako makapag move-on…
    Hahaha..

Nway, Samantha Bernardo gave the best performance of all our representatives at MGI…. And because of that, I am forever grateful… She definitely raised the bar high for our next Miss Grand Philippines…

    Congratulations to the TOP 5
And goodluck to our next representatives.

  21. SamBer did a great job as our representative. You can see her being grateful and happy sa naging achievement nya and she’s a good sport. Not bad for a 20 day preparation. Deserve naman nya ang support ng Pinoy fans because she gave her all and performed very very well.

  22. Ano na nangyari sa Miss Eco International? Walang ganap dahil semana santa na? O may news black out because Kelley Day is NOT PERFORMING well? Ha, ha, ha…

    • Cguro Kelly is reserving her energy for the finals. But if you are in a competition, di na uso ang reserve energy sa finals kc pano kung di ka pasok sa banga. Every moment or segment of the competition is crucial. Look at SamBer. Ang sarap suportahan kc alam mong lumalaban tlga at nag-eeffort.

  23. Time to move on to another national pageant – MWP. Pwede pa si Samantha for Miss Supranational. He, he he…

  24. A year or two from now, that Indonesian lady will be perfect for Miss Universe.

  25. From the pic above, angelic talaga face ni Sam at ni Ivana (Trump??? Charot!) no?

  26. Yes na yes po, Tito Norman!
We love you, stay safe po and looking forward to your next posts and updates.
    Thanks
