Behold your #Binibini31 Graciella Lehmann of Oriental Mindoro in her Bb. Pilipinas National Costume created by Joemel Calma:
“Centurion”
(Notes from the designer)
The creation’s inspiration stems from the vision of a female centurion or warrior demonstrating exemplary and heroic qualities of a Filipina bravely leading the century.
Characterized by Roman costumes, tunics, and vivid metallic embellishments that have been crafted by local artisans and woodcarvers of Paete, Laguna, this reclaimed and recycled warrior ensemble symbolizes women’s ability to exhibit their courage and stand up for their rights and core feminine values.
It is a colorful festival celebrated on the island of Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines. The centurion masks depict the story of the Passion of the Christ.
Possessing as much strength, determination and fortitude as any man, they are willing to take up arms and fight for a cause with relentless perseverance.

Not to bash, or negate the hard work put in this costume.
1. It’s bland, and just not giving the vibe of being nationalistic,
or a warrior if that’s what they try to achieve.
2. Even though they have story or interpretation for this creation,
the presentation doesn’t transcend into something meaningful, the reasons being =
a) it’s just an embellishment of boots, cape, specter, shield and head gear
b) there’s nothing original with the concept
c) the materials used look cheap, plasticky
d) the boots just make the whole presentation tacky
Sorry, just my opinion.
Nice costume!
Always do your best Oriental Mindoro.
Good luck!
Off topic:
MGI will be held in Thailand around March 20-ish.
Hope that my favorite Aya Abesamis will have the chance to compete.
@ JustPassingBy 19 to 30 March 2021, po. 🙂
(Which reminds me, may magaganda sa MGT 2020! Maybe like Amanda Chalisa, they will cross over…)
Ok you wana highlight western history & culture that was forced upon our natives which became their tool for our indirect enslavement… K!
6 stars.🙄
i think inspiration nila dito is the moriones festival. magkapitbahay lang kasi ang mindoro & marinduque. mas kilala kasi ang moriones sa marinduque, so to avoid confusion tinawag ata nilang centurion festival yung sa mindoro…
Yes, I’m well aware of that… and I’m also not a big fan of the Moriones Festival… 🙄
