  1. Damn….
The crooked rhinoplasties, the uneven lip fillers, the tinted lenses, the oversized veneers.
Can’t look at them. It’s hurting my goggles.
Only a few stand out in terms of facial beauty. A handful stand out in terms of abilities to express thoughts and cognition.

  2. Sobrang nagbilib ako kay Voltaire Tayag. Mapapaisip ka talaga sa mga tanong niya.I wonder why he is not invited as a judge sa BbP the past years.

Good job sa mga ladies. Majority are intelligent to answer their question.Tatak Filipina.

So, after watching all the interview videos, here are my top 5 (content, substance, train of thought, delivery):

Rank 1 – El Cano Jan Alexis (pang-MU level niya sinagot ang tanong considering ang hirap ng question)

Rank 2 – Mateo, Rabiya (universal ang issue na isinagot sa tanong at so powerful ang message na ipinahatid niya sa mga kababaihan)

Rank 3 – Malinao, Alaiza (I like it that she provided concrete example thru simple situations in our daily living on redefining the meaning of help in the midst of pandemic)

Rank 4 – Gumabao, Michelle (definitely she’s a good and confident speaker due to the fact she was side court reporter before. I like it that she presented women who can make a difference when they become leaders. I wish she removed the sentence that says she wants to be president but probably not during pandemic. This shows unpreparedness should she become a leader)

Rank 5 – Ysmael, Bella (at first, I thought the question is very easy. but it was not. Ms Ysmael has chosen a Filipina role model and enumerated her qualities. This qualities reflects what Bella values and has shown that these qualities has moulded her to a woman she is today)

With Special Citation: Ocampo, Trizsha (her answer is very relevant currently when she answered we should be ourselves even if others show in social media that is not their true selves)

    With Citation:
    Malana, Maria Regina
    Pangindian, Riana

    • @ Lireo Would VT’s office – Rappler – have anything to do with that perceived BPCI snub? 🙂

Besides, I do not think BBP has ever had pageant media/influencers on their Selection Panel. It has only ever been either big celebrities (associated with their sponsors) or foreign diplomats.

In any case, I much prefer this to the Newport Holiday Inn Express interview. With his scathing “personalized” questions (ostensibly to give the impression of being well-researched), Joee Guilas just came across as a krej. Imagine if those were the ones asked now at BCC! Poor ladies. 😦

  3. Pauline A has great future in pageantry
She’s almost Cat who can win MU MW or MI

  5. Observation lang…

Considering the fact that IMG surely wont make it easy for us to win again—kasi parang SA and PH lang nananalo—sending someone that they won’t bar from advancing to the q&a portion dahil sobrang talino and could be a threat to the countries that they’d favor like Thailand… someone na sufficient, ticks all the right boxes, hindi intimidating, and yung overall performance is sure top 5 would be our best bet. I understand why there are some group of people na gusto si Pauline, Michelle and Ysabella because they are considered the best english speakers of the batch, pero I feel like IMG’s highest placement for them would be top 10 lang.

I honestly believe that our best bet to secure a top 5 placement is Alaiza. Given na that she would excel sa swimsuit and evening gown, pero what some people fail to realize is how effective and intelligent of a speaker Alaiza is. I mean, admit ko na I was one of those who stereotyped her as “dumb probinsyana,” but she proved us wrong with her authenticity and the way she answers questions thoughtfully and intelligently—yung wit and wisdom niya when she speaks napaka endearing and engaging. It is an advantage na they underestimate her communication skills, kasi pag dating sa top 5 she could just go for a sneak attack and possibly win our 5th Miss Universe crown. Also, her advocacy is unrivaled, so timely and relevant. If ever she makes it to top 3 to plead her case, I believe she could pull a victory.

Emotional lang din kasi a decade later, after Venus Raj’s “major, major” moment and BPCI’s strict rule that prohibited our girls from speaking in their native tongue, we could possibly hear our representative speak in filipino language for the first time in herstory if I’m not mistaken. Sobrang iconic and trending yan if Alaiza could do that. Nakakaproud how far we’ve come, and I really appreciate the new organization for their initiative sa pag-encourage to be proud of our language and roots. ❤️🇵🇭🙏🏼👑

    • I honestly like Alaiza’s answer. It wasn’t flat, boring, or predictable. Probably because it was genuine, and it came from the heart. It wasn’t a “book-ish” answer.

And I agree totally about how people underestimate her comm skills. I have been watching her interviews, e.g. the interview with Janelle Tee in US x years ago (where back then she is already eyeing to join again the PH’s top pageant foray), the candid interviews of her (mga BTS ambush interviews), etc — and I like how she has become a confident person who speaks her mind/heart.

And you’re right, her advocacy is very timely.

But what I really admire best about her is how she came prepared for this. So far her photos, styling, and public appearances are creme de la creme. Plus, that banging body is a product of hardwork – hundreds of hours in the gym + a strong mind to push oneself.

    • I don’t think there’s a rule in IMG not to give it to us or SA. If that’s the case, they should’ve stopped Zozi’s win as SA got 2 crowns and a 1st runner up in 3 straight years. MUO is a fair org and they will give the crown to the rightful girl regardless of where she come from.

      • Nah…IMG was so obviously gearing for an african american/woman of color winner last year. Only Zozi fit the bill perfectly.

    • I dont think they will bar us from advancing if we will be sending a crown-worthy candidate…South Africa figured prominently for the past three years because they sent strong crown worthy candidates. I agree that Alaiza is a strong contender for the crown…her interview above proved to us that she can deliver a very authentic, non-rehearsed and substantial answer even when speaking in English…but should she opt to speak in the language she is most comfortable with then so be it….sabi nga ni Janine: “For me, being Miss Universe is not just about knowing how to speak a specific language – it is being able to influence and inspire other people. So whatever language you have, as long your heart is to serve and you have a strong mind to show to people, then, you can be Miss Universe.”

  6. Most of them did really well. Maybe 5 lang ang patapon.
The rest are all worthy of a Crown. So, don’t feel bad ladies.
The ladies me think will do well collectively come final night
Beauty, experience, and substance wise are:

-Michelle Gumabao, probably the eventual winner💐
    -Pauline A., 1st RU🌹love her beautiful mind
    -Rabia M, 2nd RU🌹epitome of femininity
-Apriel S, 3rd RU 🌹Systemic racism here in the East coast,
    Apriel will be perfect representative

    Good luck ladies🤗

    • Correct ka Fabian. Pero sa Miss World niya isisigaw yun next year. He, he, he…

      • Sobrang nagbilib ako kay Voltaire Tayag. Mapapaisip ka talaga sa mga tanong niya.I wonder why he is not invited as a judge sa BbP the past years.

  7. Now that I have glimpsed their intellect and values, all the more I am convinced they are all winners. The Selection Committee would certainly have a hard time deciding who to award the MUP title to. The aspirants all proved that they have what it takes to be a Phenomenal Woman! My list of top contenders have now grown so wide that anyone of them could be a deserving queen. It now depends on each one of them to highlight their distinct competitive edge to make them stand out of the clutter of exceptional beauties!

  8. My Top 16 for Q & A:

    Michelle Gumabao (Quezon City)
    Pauline Amelinckx (Bohol)
    Bella Yshmael (Parañaque)
Zandra Nicole Sta. Maria (Pasay City)
    Alaiza Malinao (Davao City)
    Rabiya Mateo (Iloilo City)
    Billie Hakenson (Cavite)
    Christelle Abella (Aklan)
    Jan Alexis Elcano (Batanes)
    Paula Ortega (Albay)
    Tracy Perez (Cebu City)
    Lou Piczon (Romblon)
    We’am Ahmed (Davao del Norte)
    Maria Lianina Macalino (Marinduque)
    Ericka Evangelista (Rizal)
Carissa Rozil Quiza (Surigao del Norte)

I agree that there are a lot of girls who really know what they’re talking about and not just rely on memorized answers. Kudos to the interview! it’s a good way to know who can deliver in the Q & A portion 🙂

    Nkakahanga sila lahat.

  10. My Top 20

    • C2F MG is at the top of the board. Thus this means – Michelle Gumabao, 28. Philippines! Ha, ha, ha…

  11. After watching this, heto po ang sa akin, complete package:

    Bohol
    Angeles City
    Iloilo
    Pangasinan
    Misamis Oriental
    Paranaque
    Davao City
    Makati
    Quezon City
    Rizal
    Taguig

Sa height na lang po magkakatalo.

    • I think QC is the tallest. She is also blessed with radiant & likable personality and excellent communication skills aside from being beautiful and highly marketable to various stakeholders.

  12. For now eto yung bet ko:

    4th Runner Up Bella Ysmael
    3rd Runner Up Sandra Lemonon
    2nd Runner Up Flor Malinao
    1st Runner Up Pauline Amelinckx
    MUP 2020 Perlyn Cayona

Let women wear what they want to wear. If they are comfortable in their own skin hayaan mo sila. At, it’s not like dinisplay nya yung buong treasures nya, may takip pa rin naman di ba? anong nirereklamo mo?

  14. @ Ana Winter-Lund & @ Abcde Yes! Kim Alexis Elcano of Batanes is GORGEOUS.

I include her among the best in the first video. She attacked her question head-on and methodically; you can follow her thought-process/logic very well. I also liked both Cole Silvernale and Rabiya’s take on what prevents Filipinos from excelling (or something to do that effect). They gave mediocrity (Nick Joaquin’s mentality of smallness) and culture of silence, respectively.

Riana echoed my sentiments all along – HUMILITY is the single most important attribute of a beauty queen. Adelma Krissel (Ilocos Sur) rallied for AUTHENTICITY. TMPerez & Malana of Cebu City & Isabela, respectively, did well. My Caroline was ON-POINT – laptop ang hindi mawawala sa buhay niya! Bella gave the CLASSIEST answer to her question – her ballet teacher is God. 🙂

OMG!!! SI MARIA FEE OF ROMBLON, ANG GANDA!!! Mukha’ng manika. For her, mom is all.

During this pandemic, Alaiza learned… to help others, while Noreen Victoria of Kalinga learned… resilience (guys, don’t you think she is like Anna Bayle and Resham Saeed combined?). Faye Dominique of Quezon Province will teach her kids to be respectful and respectable. Finally, Perlyn of ZamSur, who lovingly did her farm chores in shorts, said she will tell her children to be God-fearing. Ang saya-saya, ‘di ba?

    • Its the lipstick… pang lola color… and her forehead wrinkles again when she thinks..

  15. I have selectively watched the answers of the phenomenal girls on the frontline and I admire them all. They are:

    1. Michelle Gumabao – no doubt that she can deliver and can give the best answer.
    2. Bella Ysmael – very natural and spontaneous and she gives answer from the heart.
    3. Pauline Amelinckx – at par with Bella’s.
    4. Rabiya Mateo – see my note below
    5. Alaiza Malinao – she can also answer, but there is a tendency that she may get her nerves.

But who amazed me most while giving her answer? Miss Iloilo City, Rabiya Mateo. While she may not be that as spontaneous as Bella Ysmael, Pauline Amelinckx or Michelle Gumabao, she is endearing and lovely while giving her answer. She is gorgeous and full of charm. And, of course, she gives meaningful answer. I see Megan Young in her.

Bubbling up now is Zandra Nicole Sta. Maria of Pasay City. I find her witty and beautiful. There is something in her that makes her phenomenal. Kimberly Hakenson also talks with sense and sounds natural. Pero sana she avoids yung naka-ismid look all the time. Miss Batanes is growing in me.

    That’s all.

    • I don’t mind Zandra winning. Gusto ko talaga siya from the moment I watched her Beyond the Coastline video. Si Batanes sobrang ganda. Yung photo niya nung interview prelims hawig niya dun si Sam Lo. Sana nagimprove walk niya kasi di masyadong maganda nung runway challenge.

There are less than 10 candidates lang na hindi ganun kagaling sumagot, so it boils down sa physical (beauty, body, styling, and pasarela) since almost lahat may ibubuga sa kudaan.

      • Gusto ko kay Miss Pasay is ‘yung svelte physique n’ya, so class at yayamanin. I watched her pasarela, at kembot kung kembot s’ya, tapos grabe, she is so eloquent. Makuda. But for me, she is passable.

Miss Batanes naman is a chameleon. Sometimes, she looks Mia Pangyarihan of Sexbomb and Vicky Morales of Wish Ko Lang fame. Haha! But I find her witty.

        That’s all.

      • Nice. Mahusay magsalita. There was even a group online interview where they were thrown one question, mas nauna syang sumagot kay Gumabao. They gave the same content pero mas gusto ko ang delivery nya. Love her.

  16. May mga kandidata na nandidilat paramg guro sa q and a. Hindi becoming . Pandilatan pa si Steve Harvey Kung mananalo sya
