  4. 1. Like it or not, the MUP crown this year is already on Michele Gumabao’s head purely on comm skills alone. Her physicality is easily excused by the transforming views of beauty (in MU stage) started by Siera Bierchel and successfully utilized by Zozibini. Pasarela isn’t much of a thing nowadays either.
    2. Alaiza Malinao is the resurrection of Taliana Vargas. The strongest frontrunner, she would ace all rounds (with huge margins in scores compared to the rest of the ladies) leading to the Top 5, only to fall short on her final Q&A.
    3. Apriel Smith ranks way above mainly on the virtue that the Philippines has already sent all types of Filipina beauty (from chinita, meztiza, to morena) except for a black beauty. And honestly she’s miles ahead in terms of skills, pageant experience, and most importantly, height than the only other black beauty (Biliran) in the batch.
    4. Pauline Amelinckx is the second best speaker. But she needs to spice things up a bit. Not necessarily in a sexy way, but just give something different. Coz if Im gonna be complete;y honest she’s bordering bland na.
    5. Isabela Galeria’s placement had to be switched with that of Pauline on the basis of comm skills. Performance-wise she’s a shoo in for the top 5, but she shares the same dilemma as Alaiza.

Tracy Perez and Adee Akiyama will be the biggest spoilers. These two ladies are really strong speakers, even better than many of the frontrunners. Both are also still transformable within months, and Adee’s doctor of medicine resume has got to be the heaviest of them all.

As of now, my Top 15 consists of:
    1. Quezon City – Michele Gumabao
    2. Davao City – Alaiza Malinao
    3. Cebu Province – Apriel Smith
    4. Bohol – Pauline Amelinckx
    5. Sorsogon – Isabela Galeria
    6. Paranaque – Bella Ysmael
    7. Cavite – Billie Hackenson
    8. Taguig – Sandra Lemonon
    9. Catanduanes – Sigrid Grace Flores
    10. Mandaue – Lou Dominique Piczon
    11. Albay – Paula Ortega
    12. Cebu City – Tracy Maureen Perez
    13. Aklan – Chrystel Abello
    14. Oriental Mindoro – Adee Hitomi Akiyama
    15. Iloilo City – Rabiya Mateo

    • @ unorthodox … give Oriental Mindoro stimulants so she’ll SLAY. Too shy, still. 🙂

      • @Flor YES!!! I agree. Adee needs to be more energetic. I think kasi that she’s not fully embracing the ‘beauty queen persona’ yet. She still can’t fully see herself as a full pledge beauty queen kaya it shows in her demeanor and attitude towards the competition

      • @ unorthodox The Ashtie Nights episode with her as guest together with Mitch was telling.

Imo, it was a BAD move by Bessana, et al. If I were Adee, I’d be intimidated, too…

She is being brave about the entire thing, her realization that she entered totally unfamiliar terrain, where seasoned A&Q bets like the volleybelle-celeb run circles around her, like vultures lazily awaiting weakened sheep to perish from dehydration under the merciless sun.

Her father’s supportive coaxing notwithstanding, I am willing to say she will find the whole enterprise so stressful she will not give it another try, this being her first and last attempt at pageantry.

After all you did say Mitch is good as won… And you cannot force what does not come naturally.

      • @Flor it depends actually. kasi pwede rin na it boosted Adee’s confidence eh. I mean, If I were Adee, at nakayanan kong makipagsabayan with one of the perceived frontrunners lalo na sa kudaan, it just proves na kaya ko tong field na pinasok ko. She was able to hold her ground the entire time, and honestly based on that whole interview she came across as having more personality and relatability factor than Michele. It’s just a matter of Adee seeing things the right way. Kasi if she won’t have these same realizations kakainin talaga sya ng insecurity.

I also dont see her giving national pageantry another try in the future. So if I were her, may as well maximize the whole experience and give it my best shot

      • @Fabian that’s not harsh…considering that she’s in the wrong pageant. I’ve been scoring the ladies in all their activities and Bella is actually my current number 1 scorer based on her performances so far. Her alta upbringing and bearing definitely gives off a cosmopolitan vibe. But no matter what angle I look into it, in my eyes she’s still more Miss International than Miss Universe.

    • Haaay!!! Sna ur one of the judges!!! 😊 On point everything!! Love it!🥰😍😘

      • @ Sjeffie Cheon …. if you only knew… LOLZ!

        🙂

(Too bad, really, that wordpress now hides comments at the old(er) posts…)

      • @Flor what do you mean???

@Sjeffie oh, thank you for appreciating my comments! And yeah I would really be thrilled if I will be given a chance to judge. Someday maybe hahaha.

  5. ISA LANG ang PIPILIIN ko kasi ISA lang naman ang mananalong MUP – Michelle Gumabao.

The REST PLEASE JOIN other NATIONAL PAGEANTS such as MWP (7 titles), BPP (so far 4 titles), Mutya Pilipinas (around 5 titles), MPE (1 titles and 4 runners up), and so many regional, city, provincial and municipal pageants to hone further your pageant skills. Yun na.

    • PAG DI MAKUDA ANG MERLIE, WAG NANG MAG JOIN NG MUP NEXT YEAR . HOPING THAT KAREN IBASCO WILL JOIN NEXT YEAR

      • KAREN IBASCO IS ONE OF THE UGLIEST FILIPINO BEAUTY QUEENS in the history of Philippine Pageantry. HINDI KAYANG I-PHOTOSHOP ang kanyang mukha kahit yung NAPAKAGALING sa software/program na to.

  6. MY TOP 15. VERY EASY FOR ME TO DELIBERATE AS WHAT I SAID, IT IS A WEAK BATCH. DAMING FILLERS…NEXT TIME PLEASE…QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

  7. Make it as complicated and bloody as you want.

    I choose to simplify.

Five (5) FACES, STRIKING ENOUGH to earn their keep at Mercator/Empire. My #’s 11-15.

DavNor, Leyte, MisOr, Iloilo Province, and Sorsogon.

As a famous hairstylist once said, “names you forget. But beautiful hair (or a face, in this case), everyone remembers”. 🙂

  8. My top 11 list includes in order
    1.Pauline and alaiza (tie)
    2.Bella
    3. Mitch
    4.rabiya and Galiera-(tie)
    5. Short haired lady fr Cavite
    6.sigrid
    7.the doctor
    8. April
    9. Sandra

  9. I’m lucky enough to visit new Delhi , Himachal, Manali ,Rajasthan and Kashmir. I agree w Flor we should not send someone w their kind of beauty. I remember seeing a school bus of all girls high school in Manali . When they alighted and cross the street. I saw young beautiful faces na pwd artista. They have this olive skin and thick hair .
I also travelled to Sri Lanka. I don’t see much beauties probably Bec some cover their faces.

  10. Nabasa ko Flor nang MAKAILANG BESES ang iyong comment about Mateo for Miss Multinational. BUT STILL yun ang paniwala ko para kay Mateo. So YUN ako… he, he, he.

  11. Especially in this difficult period the world is going through, my Top 10 should consist of those who could be “role models, rallying points and harbingers of hope” in this trying times. A beautiful face and body of whatever archetype has little value in reducing our psychological and financial stress. What the world needs now are beauties who can inspire confidence that together we can and will again rise up. My first qualifying criteria then is core values, as reflected in advocacy. Second is intellect, that quality which enables one to communicate sensible ideas effectively. Third is the physique, that tangible imagery of a person that exudes commanding presence, power, and strength. There are so many in this batch who jostles for a space in my Top 10. I just contend with the thought that the Philippines is indeed blessed for having a vast reservoir of holistic beauties that we can truly call “Phenomenal”.

  12. in terms of safety. That strategy of announcing the top 20/15 before the finals is actually a good decision. announce the semifinals on prelim or announce the semis via fb before the finals. in that way hinde masyado crowded ng girls ang backstage and on stage sa finals. less candidates. more spaces. so malawak ang social distancing. hopefully all the girls. staff and judges ay nailagay na sa official hotel 2 weeks before the finals. in terms of bbp. mgi and globe this year. ano na po kaya update sir norman?

  13. I had high hopes for Apriel Smith but it seems like she’s still lacking in Comm Skills and even the ability to formulate concise answers to basic questions.

  14. For sure whoever wins will make Top 20 in MIss Universe. But who among these can actually deliver a flawless monologue with substance and confidence good enough to break into the Top 10? This means doing better that 10 other girls.

Now, If she does make it, we can assume she’ll do well in EG and SS, so from there, who can outdo the other girls in Q&A?

    Think about it carefully…

Those are the ONLY GIRLS WE SHOULD CONSIDER.

    • True!..

That means our TOP 5 should be the best speakers since we already know that all of them could walk and do glam shots..

      • It’s different now. Before, not everyone had to be smart because the not-so-smart ones can be relegated to other crowns where you didn’t need brains, I.e. Miss Supranational.

But now, if we were to base it on the same competition format, the only way we’ll make Top 10 is if we have an outstanding speaker.

Let’s learn from the Gazini experience. She was perfect in all aspects until she spoke.

If you look at the Top 3 winners of recent years, they were all highly-educated and eloquent speakers.

    • For the Philippines SO FAR MATITINO ang PINAGSASABI MO RITO. You are very, very good in terms of points you raised.

The current MU owners/organizers are looking for an effective brand ambassadress and an excellent org. spokesperson. HINDI SILA NAGHAHANAP ng someone who is VERY SEXY and a good material for Sports Illustrated (unlike Trump’s time).

And so there are ONLY three most qualified – Michelle, Ysabella and Pauline (BUT the last two SHOULD TAKE GLOXI to earn at least 3 INCHES MORE).

Paula Ortega – Reina Hispano Filipinas (for Reina Hispano Americana)
Rabiya Mateo – Miss Multinational Philippines
Chiara Markwalder – Miss Supranational Philippines/Miss Eco Philippines
Alaiza Malinao, Apriel Smith, Billlie Hakenson, Isabela Galeria – to Cory Quirino’s Mutya Pilipinas for her modelling titles

      • To be honest, I like Galeria and Malinao… But will they be able to deliver a phenomenal 30-sec speech that’s both substantive yet sincere. And do a better job than half of the girls, to secure a Top 10 spot…. hmmm….

If they can’t, we’re out of the Top 10 once again.

Also, I think that The reason Gazini was a wildcard and barely cracked Top 20 was her Interview because we all saw how well she did her SS and EG in the Preliminaries. And based on prior interviews, communication is clearly her Waterloo. Clearly, she is not a Pia not a Catriona.

We need someone who can level up to doctors, lawyers, actors, journalists which are what the other countries are sending.

      • @ paul You apparently did not read my reply (to you) in the earlier post.

        😦

Rabiya will be plain Jane to Indians in India!!! Multinational is the WORST thing she could ever get.

Do Senoron, Pasion, De Lumen, and Mugford look Indian, haber?

The Subcontinent is brimming with beautiful individuals! Huwag na huwag ka magpapadala du’n ng kamukha nila, Dude.
