During MU2004, Gal was photographed with (L-R) Hoàng Khánh Ngọc of Vietnam, Telma Sonhi of Angola and Maricar Balagtas of the Philippines
There were talks before that Miss Universe Israel 2004 did not take the competition seriously enough for reasons like the final outcome already being decided early on and the favorites of the organization remaining as such till the end. That’s all in the past. And if only Gal Gadot can stand up in the center of the Hollywood sign in California and shout, “Look at me now!”, she would. She can be considered an A-lister in, where else, Hollywood after landing the role of Wonder Woman and starring in a string of other high-profile movies/blockbuster pics. She is currently filming (before the lockdown) a movie with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds (“Red Notice”) plus a meaty role in the upcoming remake of the Agatha Christie classic “Death on the Nile” which I am very much looking forward to watching.
Let us watch her performance during Miss Universe 2004 first.
Now let’s check out her interview with Jimmy Kimmel last 2016.
And lastly, here is Gal for 73 Questions for Vogue.
Why did Angola make the cut to the 15 and not Maricar Balagtas ? ( Israel is also better than Angola )
There were a lot of injustice in that year’s (2004) top 15 …
I guess MU didn’t see the gold in Gadot
If they did , MU would probably be in a different place right now . Deciding to cater to Asian fans may be a good move to stay afloat , it certainly does not help improve its hold on the American audience.
What if MU continues to do what they did to Gazini last yr ?( I’m not exactly a Gazini fan but I think she had a place in the top 10 or even top 5. ) ..I bet they would lose a lot more fans worldwide including me . My interest in MU got renewed only in. 2010 when Venus Rah made top 5 .
If the Philippines fail to make the first cut This yr , whether deserved or not , I will shut off my tv within. 3s and I will never ever open any review on the pageant on YouTube . I can see the number of views on MU 2019 review dwindled significantly compared to the previous yrs . What more if the Philippine rep starts clapping within 15 min of the show?
So good for Gadot !
And MUO , I dare you do the unimaginable !
i like her (super like actually) but i kinda don’t believe (and i won’t buy it) that she did not take things seriously during MU2004… she’s not ready… that i might believe… lakad, styling, and verything. kung alam lang niya kung ilang taon ang hinintay nina Maricar Balagtas at Shandi Finnessey para makaapak sa MU stage… buti sana kung inappoint lang cya gaya ni Jennifer Hawkins… bka pwede ko pang paniwalaan ung claim nya.
it’s like hearing a lot of those former contestants saying that they were TOMBOY… i haven’t heard about MU before… a year ago, i can’t even walk with heels.
if she really did not like to win… the moment that she saw Miss Lebanon there… since that was the time of the Al-Aqsa Intifada… she could have just quit… that could have been her biggest excuse… if it’s really true that she really had no intention to WIN.
Maganda si Gal pero hindi ako ganun kafan ng beauty niya. Sakto lang kumbaga. Yung ganda niya parang tume-Theresa Loyzaga. Chweh!
I am wondering what made her decide to have curly hair for the pageant when she looks much better with straight hair.
She may be sour graping, but everybody knew she did not have it when she competed. She had poor styling, her walk was lousy, and her body was a meh. In otherwise, she was not blooming as a stunning lady you would want to see. If Miss Universe was not her thing, the Universe was also crying to say that Gal was not its thing. I would say that our Maricar Balagtas would make it to Top 20, if ever there was any at that time, than Gal.
Dreaming about the stars would not always mean they would align to you instantaneously as you need it, because their constellation would always come as naturally as they do. Gal’s had it in a different setting at the perfect time, and that is in Hollywood.
Now you may wonder if Jennifer Hawkins auditions for Wonder Woman role, do you think she would have it? The answer is a “NO.”
That’s all.
From Rolling Stone 4-8-20:
She recalled to Rolling Stone magazine: “I told myself, ‘I’m just gonna do this. They’re gonna fly us to Europe, and I’m gonna get to tell my grandchildren that Grandmom did the Miss Israel thing.’
“Little did I know that I would win.
“I knew that I did not want to win Miss Universe. It wasn’t my thing. For an 18 year old, it looked like too much responsibility.”
The 32-year-old beauty set out to deliberately lose by wearing the wrong clothes and pretending not to speak English.
She said: “I lost majorly. I victoriously lost.”
This woman is gorgeous. But she was not styled and trained properly during 2004 Miss Universe. Otherwise, she could have landed in semifinals, if not, won the crown.
