  1. Ganyan yung hair ni Nina Alagao sa Miss Universe 2000. Flat at nakakalaki ng mukha. Ayun, talo si Nina Ricci.

    • @ bekibells I also wished to add….

      We can no longer count on this type of beauty to stand out internationally. Kung ganito lang at FACE ang labanan (on impression), our ASEAN neighbors can trump us now. This would have worked even just a few decades earlier, but not anymore.

      We need to send now STRIKING beauties, the kind that makes fans in Latin America get headaches and gastric upset. In this regard, I think JG’S predisposition towards EDGY will now begin to pay off. But no, it will not be MG. She would be considered plain now. Not kween. Just jowable-friendly-pretty.

  2. Stunning! Just shed a bit more weight Much and you’re perfectly ready to conquer the world, or the universe rather.

  3. MG is getting PLENTY of love because of her show business pedigree. As did Teresita Ssen.

    For me, this is the defining element. And the ONLY ONE that truly defines her. Without it, had she been not an “artista”, I swear she would not be getting so much support.

    MUP, you said you would have a level playing field. I hope you can be profitable without resorting to show business linkage.

    • FLOR ANG BONGGA NG DISCUSSIONS NINYO NI SCORG OVER MY POST. KAYONG DALAWA LANG ANG NAGSASAGUTAN AND YOU DID IT IN A VERY ACADEMIC MANNER. MAY MGA TANONG PA AKO SA IYO: IS SCORG A SCHOOLMATE OF YOURS? (HA, HA, HA…); IS HE ONE of the FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN YOU WEARING the WHITE DRESS and FLYING OVER the CORRIDORS of PALMA HALL? (HE, HE, HE…); and DID YOU TAKE MULTIDISCIPLINARY STUDIES AS A COURSE (Scorg is interested)? THANKS FLOR.

      • @ paul No, I did not take Multi-Disciplinary Studies. Nope, met @ scorg here. And you, op kors. 🙂

  4. Now I wonder if Michelle has changed her women-and-youth-empowerment advocacy which she used when she competed Miss Globe 2018. Such advocacy is common and very generic. I wish Michelle changes such advocacy, something that could have personal and substantial impact and is relatable to her story.

    If I may suggest, it is a lot better if she changes her advocacy to — provide support system and spread awareness to the kin of jailed members of their family to keep stronghold with one another and visit the imprisoned family members regularly in jails. You know how painful it is to hear some stories that most families tend to forget their jailed member of the family by moving on and not visiting such jailed kin the whole time. While imprisoned members of the family are deemed criminals in the eyes of the law, they still need love, care, and see their family often. On a positivist’s point of view, imprisoned individuals can be changed and be beneficial to the society in due time.

    Michelle can share to the world the story of his father, who was once a (hot hunk) movie and TV actor and became a lawmaker, and who imperfectly committed wrong but is now trying to correct such misdeed by sharing the words of God inside the cell. It is no secret that Michelle’s family has become more united and never been remiss in visiting their dad inside the cell.

    That story, plus her advocacy, will be worthy of MU airtime.

    • While that may be an interesting advocacy, I think it would be more value-adding if her volleyball clinic initiative can be expanded to a nationwide grassroots volleyball advocacy program for the youth. Being a star volleyball player in the national team, the sport has been an integral part of her personal brand. Sharpening an advocacy on an area that already defines her in the eyes of the public lends more credibility and convincing power to the advocate. This grassroots sports development program can be paced under the purview of youth development.

      • View on point. I wish Michelle’s team or Michelle herself takes our suggestions as an option.

        That’s all.

  5. The bagsnatcher did a close up interview with both Alaiza and Michelle . The difference in facial beauty is staggering !

    • @ Fabian Reyes Between the two ladies and this “bag snatcher’?

      You’re referring to Mars Franz, aren’t you?

      Oo, naman. 🙂

  6. Hmmm… okay, maybe she’s the anointed one, but perhaps she should consider putting on a few more pounds like Siera Bearchell did to prep for MU. That strategic weight gain snapped up a top 10 placement for Siera, didn’t it?

  7. I saw mitch bbp 2018 talent show. Ang fit fit nya in person. Naisip ko Lang baka di naman talaga sya ganyan ka chunky. Talaga naman masculine Ang athletes

  8. My bet is either Alaiza or Ysmael . Both of them are super gorgeous with queenly aura
    Alternate: Apriel or Pauline
    I love both Michele and Sandra but they do not have the queenly demeanor . They are more like cheerleaders .

    • CAN ALAIZA MALINAO, YSABELLA YSMAEL, APRIEL SMITH OR SANDRA LEMONON CAN ANSWER DIFFICULT QUESTIONS such as the FOLLOWING?

      1. WHAT AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS SHOULD BE DONE BY THE GOVERNMENT TO COMBAT THE GROWING THREAT OF VIOLENT EXTREMISM IN SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES?
      2. HOW CAN WE MITIGATE THE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK TO THE COUNTRY’S GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP) IN 2020?
      3. DO YOU BELIEVE THE COUNTRY’S PRESS FREEDOM IS BEING CURTAILED BY THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION? WHY OR WHY NOT?

      REMEMBER, NANALO SI ZOZOBINI HINDI DAHIL SA GANDA KUNDI SA GALING SA PAGSAGOT AT PAG-DELIVER ng STATEMENTS. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO SEND ANOTHER GANADOS WHOSE COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE SO ALANGANIN AT MEDYO KUNTI LANG ANG ALAM sa mga BAGAY2X.

      • Nauna na si Bb. Pilipinas 1993 … tingnan mo ang sagot. Tapos pang Universe ang labas.

      • @Paul: Unfortunately, questions like these are raised more in classrooms than in a final 30-second Q&A of pageants, not even in casual interviews. That said, I think a lawyer-economist can answer those, albeit a bit fidgetty.

      • @Paul: These questions are also the type asked of presidential candidates during debates or, as in US, town hall meetings. But if there is a candidate who can confidently and cnvincingly answer these on-the-spot, I salute, bow, or kneel before her!

      • @ paul at number 1 fan ni ganados

        The best way to slay a difficult question is to give the simplest-most sensible answer. Whether or not the judges will like it is another thing….. 🙂

        For #1, I already answered before and I chose something AFFIRMATIVE. But I do not think it was too convincing for you, so I will now give an alternative response and NOT too rosy – military rule over the ENTIRE island, using ANY kind of assistance any other country (read, not just the USA) is willing to extend in this regard. After all, “violent extremism” is not something to be left to pansies to deal with. Any psychologist will tell you (like Blogger Man, here) that these are now mere thugs and thus kid’s glove’s will do nothing. Situations such as these is why hard-line intervention is not entirely wrong (but “wrong” is the wrong word to use because it moralizes… My intent is to be cold-objective).

        For #2, the issue is that we have as an economy become so dependent on “cheap China” and their gluttony for the world’s wealth that their slowdown could slow us down, too. This is precisely why it pays to have “other friends, suppliers, and customers”. For now, look elsewhere for business. I mean, I do not really think we have a choice….

        And for #3, I agree that press freedom is curtailed. But you know what? IT’S NOTHING NEW. Why? It’s what Michael Jackson referred to as “human nature” – we can’t help it. Power is a primordial urge therefore feels so good, enough to make us do anything to ensure our grip on it. That being said and therefore, this is certainly NOT unique to Philippines. Even @ scorg would concur.

      • @Flor: I said, only a lawyer-economist contestant can answer these on the spot. I see some depth in your answers. The White Lady of UP Diliman must also have taken multiple courses, from Law to Political Science to Economics to Development Studies to Library Science to Physical Education! My comments though: #1 is not Affirmative Action, although an Affirmative Action cannot be done in the near-term. Dealing with winning hearts and minds may take an entre generation. For #2: that’s right– it is always a good idea not to “put our eggs in one basket”. For #3: yes it is curtailed. But if you say that the Philippines is not uniquely situated because power is a “primordial urge” of human beings, I my take is that our democratic ideals has a way of regulating this “primordial urge”. Censorship of any kind is antithetical to the press freedom and right to free speech duly enshrined in our constitution and social mores.

  9. mukha na siya Tita dito

    padala nyo ang mas bata and mas fresh

    hasain ang comm skills

  10. I can already foresee that Alaiza Malinao would lead the swimsuit and evening gown competitions followed by Bella Ysmael…. But on the final Q&A, Michelle Gumabao would most likely hit the homerun and slay them all.

    My possible TOP 6(in random order):

    Michelle Gumabao
    Alaiza Malinao
    Bella Ysmael
    Apriel Smith
    Paula Ortega
    Pauline Amelinkx

    I love the colorful multi-cultural set of possible winners. They would be great representations of the multi-faceted backgrounds of the Filipino people. Any of these girls would surely bring honor to our country.

  11. If Michelle Therese Imperial Gumabao wins Miss Universe Philippines 2020….I dont see any problem with that at all!😁

  12. Michele Gumabao is Miss Universe Philippines 2020

    MG is the official MUP Car sponsor, initials palang, alam na.

    Michele was A&Q flag bearer in Bb. Pilipinas 2018 against the formidable Catriona but to the camps dismay na ungusan sya ni Ahtisa sa coronation.

    Michele has clout, advocacy and pedigree. Combined can make a great backstory for her MU intro video and final interview on stage sa finals ng Miss Universe.

    Bakit kayo nag bugbulagan, it is her crown day 1 palang. No competition

    Reminds me of another Michelle, Michelle Dy who basically was annointed as MWP start palang.

    its payback time for Jonas, 3 consecutive years na syang walang alaga na nagrepresent sa Miss Universe.

    #AllTeaNoShade

      • @Baby Nica, sorry ha I don’t know how sunog na pancake looks like kasi I have never been so careless with my cooking na nakakasunog ako ng things. Ang lungkot siguro na for you having meals na sunog is on a daily noh?

  13. Right now, she is my MUP 2020. But this assessment is not cast in stone. Who knows another “phenomenal woman” will emerge out of the much-talked-about 2-month “beautiful transformation” program of MUP, and pull the rug from under her feet. While MG easily fits the MU template on communication skills, advocacy and community leadership, scholastic achievement, and physical attributes, she still has lots to learn—and unlearn.

  14. For me I will choose Biliran over Quezon City. Philippines New Look sa MU stage… Like what happened Year2010.

  15. Face – Ciara Sotto
    Body – Sharon Cuneta
    Comm Skills – typical Atenista

    thats all

  16. I think Michelle’s camp is pushing for the MUP aspirant’s reinvention, and I can see that on the photos above. Michelle looks refreshing and her confidence transcends. Her international experience on a beauty pageant stage gave her so much edge, in that she moves with so much ease and knows how to play in front of the camera. Her styling is always on point since day one, albeit the fact that she became a pound wider. I hope her team is working doubly hard to let her weight lose, so she’d look slimmer and taller. Can she give us a beauty queen abs this time? I hope. Her excellent communication skills secures her in winning the crown.

    TBH, this MUP pioneer batch gives us a lot of stunning queens. Alaiza Malinao is also on the race towards becoming this year’s MUP. I thought she has prepared in this battle by making sure that there will be no stones unturned the moment she sets her feet in the MUP screening room, and she did. She knocked out with a lot of sophistication and character, the things that set her apart from the rest of applicants.

    Skelly Florida is growing in me. I think this girl can wow the MU fans if she gets to represent the Philippines in the next annual pageant. She is naturally stunning, her face is to-die-for, her color defines Filipina skin, and her accent is commanding. I learned that she only stands 5’5″, but she looks taller because of her body proportion. Her swan-like neck is perfect. I envy her for that.

    Bella Ysmael and Pauline Amelinckx are equally gorgeous beauties with porcelain skin. They can also be darkhorses in this batch, and can potentially bring home the crown. But, Bella is a perfect Miss World rep and Pauline is so Miss International-ish. Well, MUP pageant is good try for these two sweet ladies.

    That’s all.

    • I agree that this batch gives us a lot of stunning queens. It’s like MUP was able to hit a goldmine from the the farthest reaches of the archipelago. Who would have thought that a head-turner would emerge from a remote hardly accessible island-province of Biliran. From rustic Batanes and the craggy slopes of Apayao, and all the never-heard provinces in the beauty circuit, just to come forward to join this brains-and-beauty derby takes a lot of grit. But thanks to the moral and material support of their respective communities, the grassroots is fairly well represented in this pageant. But maybe to most of them, winning the crown may just be a bonus to achieving the promised “beautiful transformation” which is a surefire way to jumpstart or leapfrog one’s career. Whatever the motivation may be, what is important is that the MUP pre-pageant training provides a level paying field for all– newbies and veterans– to attain their beautiful dream.

      • I totally agree, Scorg.

        MUP is seriously doing its first run with a bang. Their nationwide approach is akin to Miss USA pageant, making the number of MUP candidates to 52 while Miss USA has annually had 51 candidates. I can see that these 52 candidates will eventually transform into beautiful swans come May 3, as a result of rigid trainings on pasarela, hair and make-up, stylings, etc. This early, we have already seen at least 15 effortlessly and naturally beautiful candidates and the number increases as the pageant progresses.

        I can’t wait to see Michelle transform into a sexier, tanned skin her. Like you, she is my ultimate bet for the crown, that is unless the other four I mentioned above lay their cards well on the final’s night. If, say, Skelly Florida will do a Catriona fever full of charm and excellence, then I wouldn’t have any problem with that at all.

        That’s all.

  17. My TAKE on MUP 2020 GIRLS:

    Michelle Gumabao: Miss Universe Philippines (height, beauty, comm skills, experience)

    Alaiza Malinao – to Bb. Pilipinas or Miss Philippines Earth next year;
    Apriel Smith – to Mutya Pilipinas, good for the Top Model title this year;
    Maria Ysabella Ysmael – to Bb. Pilipinas next year or Miss World Philippines this year;
    Sandra Lemonon – to Bb. Pilipinas or Miss Philippines Earth next year;
    Sigrid Grace Flores – to Mutya Pilipinas, good for Miss Asia Pacific International;
    Isabela Galeria – to Mutya Pilipinas this year, good for Miss Tourism International;
    Paula Ortega – to Miss World Philippines, good for Reina Hispano-Americana;
    Pauline Amelinckx – to Miss World Philippines, good for Miss Multinational/Eco International;
    Rabiya Mateo – to Miss World Philippines or Mutya Pilipinas this year;
    Tracy Maureen Perez – to Mutya Pilipinas this year;
    Chiara Lyn Markwalder – to Miss World Philippines this year; and
    Skelly Ivy Florida – to Mutya Pilipinas this year;

    TO the REST of the GIRLS, CHOOSE the PAGEANT WHICH YOU LIKE TO JOIN THIS YEAR OR NEXT YEAR. GOOD LUCK!

  18. Bella Ysmael, for the win! Beauty and eloquence. The pedigree. She’s everything that IMG is looking for. No offense meant sa dalawang front runner, ito nga natalo sa Globe, sa Universe pa. Malinao, Bunga Jelitha in the making.

  19. may pgka- Diana Zubiri ang face pero malaki talagang babae. pra sya g Ms U Canada nung 2016

  20. Physique is the only thunder that can be stolen from Gumabao. She’s big. And among the major contenders, only Malinao can do that. Pageant watchers have been egging Alaiza for so long, might as well…. Anyway, Michelle has already tasted international competition. Alaiza naman! Am tired with the comm-skills-and-alleged-bad-attitude issue. I just find Michelle “spent” already. The Camp will be thrilled, to say the least…

    Another tall, lovely, and eloquent A&Q contender is Paola Ortega. Also big. But, I will go with Paola over Michelle, pa rin. Kasi, will she prosper as successor to Llegado? Baka sabihin ng mga Latinos, she’s big for a Filipina…. even if she does speak Spanish.

    Can Michelle be the Philippines’ answer to Cindy Marina of Albania? I just wonder…..

    You can beautify Michelle all you wish. Galeria is still the FACE OF MUP 2020.

    Very easy-breezy-uncontrived-jowable is Christelle Abello. Like Ticaro at the other side of the backyard, she radiates casual sophistication (contradiction in terms). I just love paradox!

    Daisha Jimenez….. forget it. Kung talaga’ng seryoso ‘yan, I will give her up to next year ONLY.

    Cortesi, I will assume had insufficient residency. Will her age still qualify her for MUP 2021? And by then, she will be up against Atty. M.

    Mr. JG, I suggest that for the 2021 and beyond editions of your GLAM, Miss Charm, and Supermodel International, you just field the four Runners-up of MUP 2020. No need for a separate pageant. Integrate. Be efficient. Be resourceful.

    Ta’s, make your boys – Kuya Dee, Mico Teng, and Joshua B DS – consorts to your kweens. Para may silbi sila, ‘di lang panay pabukol shoots.

    Mr. JG, please extend my warmest greetings to Mr. Rosco Dickinson. Tell him I want the 20th MHI crown to stay in Europe. And that comparisons with Mr. Supranational indicate that he, like BBP, might have to implement changes to “modernize” what has become an apparently predictable brand.

  21. Gumabao and Malinao … the AO AO girls… just train these two ladies for nine months and we’ll win!
