  1. Flor have you read my commentary & story shared to you BEFORE THEY ERASED THE POST? Thanks.

    • @ paul Good day. I am sorry. I don’t think I reached it in time…..

Frens tayo’ng lahat dito, Regardless of school…. Even the most modest National High School.

      🙂

      • Flor binalik nila ang post ko. Pakibasa sa baba. Thanks to the admin. Happy Sunday!

  2. Thank you Flor. You’ve lightened my mood tonight. Nilakad ko ang kahabaan ng University Avenue sa isang malalim na gabi hanggang sa aking dorm, wala naman akong nakitang white lady. He, he, he… Anyway GOING BACK to the TOPIC BOBO THING. Let me share a pageant story. This was in 1995 (ha, ha, ha…). Sa dorm namin talagang pinanonood ng mga resident ang beauty contests for two major reasons – SWIMSUIT and the INTERVIEW SEGMENTS. PALPAK SA INTERVIEW SI JOANNE QUINTAS BUT SHE WAS STILL CROWNED AS Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1995. SA INIS NG MGA RESIDENTE, PINUKPOK NG MGA TSINELAS ANG TV SCREEN AT SABAY SIGAW NANG SIGAW NG, “BOBO!, BOBO!, BOBO…” Flor GANUN NAMAN TALAGA SA UP DI BA, HINDI NAMAN NATIN PWEDENG SABIHING MATALINO ANG ISANG BOBO. He, he, he… Good night Flor.

  3. MU is a platform first and foremost. MOU blog proclaims it intends to be the world’s leading authentic women’s empowerment platform. Winners are supposedly presented with the MU platform for them to project and promote their advocacies. Sadly, the MU platform does not yet seem to take the center stage under the new owners. I’m pleased to note that it takes the Philippines, a known global Pageant Powerhouse, to take up the cudgels of making advocacy an important element of competition and the MU platform an essential element of the MU brand.

    • Why is advocacy an intrinsic elementl of today’s concept of beauty? Simple: inner beauty is best reflected in the causes one is passionate about. Advocacies surface out the values and inner strength that fuel women’s drive to achieve the same, or higher, heights as their male counterparts, and– always with grace, poise, and intelligence. Finally, advocacy is the currency of today’s pageantry. Corporate sponsors associate their brands with another brand whose values, spirit and essence are congruent with theirs.

  4. As the reigning mup. Gazini should be active. Screening. On the ladies journey. Regardless if she placed well or not.
Masakit isipin ito. Dito lamang mga kapitbahay sa baba suportado nila reyna nila kahit ano pa results. Ex Bunga, sonia

    • Gazini is still in contract with BBP pa. So lahat ng stints nya are controlled by the org. If I’m not mistaken, the contract is good for another year or 2 after passing the crown.

    • BOBO SI GAZINI. WALA SIYANG MAITULONG. BESIDES, JONAS & COMPANY ARE UP ALUMNI. OUT OF PLACE SI GANADOS, HINDI SIYA MAKAKA-RELATE SA TOPICS NG MGA TAGA-UP LIKE PALMA HALL, AS, CASAA, CHANGE OF MATRICULATION, ACADEMIC FREEDOM,ETC. ANOTHER REASON, JONAS & COMPANY ARE FROM ACES & QUEENS. BAKIT IMO ISAMA SI GANADOS, TAGA KABILANG BUNDOK SIYA. SA BUNDOK NI RODGIL FLORES. BOBO GANADOS! BOBO,BOBO, BOBO… BUGOK SA CEBUANO!

      • @ paul CASAA caught fire years ago…… is it re-built/renovated?

Pavilion 2 of Palma Hall also caught fire and was eventually abandoned due to structural issues. Anyway, the occupant – the Institute of Chemistry – is now enjoying its very own digs nearer towards C.P. Garcia Avenue.

So did Rizal Hall and another structure in the vicinity of the International Center. But the former is now history, literally and figuratively.

PLENTY of new buildings! UPD is an entirely different animal altogether now.

“Buot” means “beauty” or “beautiful” in your language? 🙂

      • Thanks for the updates Flor. BUOT MEANS MABAIT IN HILIGAYNON LANGUAGE. HILIGAYNON IS ONE OF THE TWO LANGUAGES (MOTHER TONGUE) SPOKEN BY THE ILONGGOS ASIDE FROM KINARAY-A. JONAS & COMPANY (Anna Theresa, Lia Andrea, Shamcey) WERE IN UP DILIMAN BEFORE THOSE FIRE INCIDENTS. SO ALAM PA NILA ANG TUNGKOL SA CASAA AND THE LIKES. Question Flor: Are you also from UP? Thanks.

      • @Flor: You seem to know much about UP Diliman. I suspect u are the infamous White Lady of Diliman? Lol!

@Paul: I’d like to believe you are also a UP Alumnus because your entries have depth no matter how irreverently put, except that your unkind words to Gazini to me does not sound UP at all. Sorry!

      • Scorg IF I USE THE PHRASE ‘ACADEMICALLY CHALLENGING’ TO DESCRIBE THE HEAD OF GAZINI, MOST LIKELY I AM FROM ATENEO. DO YOU KNOW THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LITERARY LANGUAGES USED BY TWO FAMOUS FILIPINO FEMALE WRITERS NAMELY ESTRELLA ALFON (UP) & GILDA CORDERO FERNANDO (Ateneo)? The FORMER USED THE LANGUAGE OF THE ORDINARY PEOPLE (VERY SOCIAL REALIST) & THE EVERYDAY LIFE WHILE THE LATTER TENDED TO VERY FORMALIST BY USING IMAGERY & OTHER TYPES OF LANGUAGE MANIPULATIONS. NOW, BETWEEN THE TWO WHO IS MOST LIKELY TO USE THE WORD BOBO?

      • @Paul, although you choose the social realist over the formalist type of language, and that is your right, there are people like me who rightly or wrongly cringe at the sound bytes that denigrate another’s character. Certainly, I was raised in an environment that puts premium on politeness and courteous demeanour. Because language can pierce one’s humanity like a dagger, describing something what it is in the colorful street language may be offensive and therefore unacceptable in a civil society. To me Gazini is not “bobo” but just inhibited. Despite the seemingly contrived facade of gregariousness, she has a discernible difficulty in self-expression, understandable in view of her back story. Had she been given more time to train before the MU contest, this could have been overcome.

        Peace!

      • @ scorg So, I was right.

Gazini should have been Runner-up at BBP 2019 to give her more time to suck everything in properly.. Anyway, MARAMING SALAMAT SA PANGKALAWAKAN.

Ako?!

@ paul I guess, yes, my reply to scorg answers your question.

        🙂

      • @Paul:

Such moronic insults obviously comes from someone who has nothing right on the left brain,
and nothing left on the right brain.

And the moderator of this blog allows such and yet, some minor criticisms he easily cuts and throw them down the drain.

        What gives?

      • @ ABC XYZ The moderator/co-Admin is a lady. Mr. Tinio said so a long time ago. 🙂

  5. As the reigning mup. Gazini should be active. Screening. On the ladies journey. Regardless if she placed well or not.
Masakit isipin ito. Dito lamang mga kapitbahay sa baba suportado nila reyna nila kahit ano pa results. Ex Bunga, sonia

    • UNSAY LABOT NI GANADOS SA MUP? BULOK SIYA. WALA SIYA’Y MATABANG SA MUP. KUNG HINDI MO MAINTINDIHAN ITO, YOU ASK IN PARTICULAR SHAMCEY SUPSUP & LIA RAMOS BECAUSE THEY CAN EXPLAIN IT TO YOU.

  6. Mga baklang twooohhh!!! Kailangan ba talaga ng past Miss Universe runners up at winners para lang MAGTURO at MAGFACILITATEs paano mamigay ng relief goods, magpa raffle for fund raising at mag magpa lafang sa mga streetkids etc?! Pag isipan hong mabuti at masyado napo tayong overacting at feeling entitled.

Obviously, they need someone who has an existing charity, has both connections and experience working with NGO’s and other social institutions.

    Ayan, maliwanag na po ba?

  7. Pardon my saying so and with all due respect to Ms. Lia Ramos, perhaps the face of the “Empowering the Filipina” mission statement could have Pia, Cat, Janine, Shamsey or Venus on this photo shoot. It would definitely more credible thus theyy are all proven empowered women in pageantry.

Winning Miss Photogenic 2006 via on-line voting only and not even advancing into the semifinals isn’t exactly a confidence builder for the fan base.

Sorry Lia…but winners, runners-up and finalists only should grace the MUPO logo.
    All the best.

    • I mean at MU;
      Venus started it,
      Shamcey repeated it,
      Janine should have won it,
      Pia down right won it,
      and Cat elevated it!

  8. anu naman ang alam nitong talunan na ito
sana nag stay na lang sya sa business nya

A and Q kinuha ni Jonas
plus UP grad Bb Universe past winners

mas marami pang more qualified empowered women kaysa kay Lia

    BBP is top pageant
    MEP next
    MWP 3rd
    MUP wala pa napapatunayan

flop ito ang ending balik sa BbP mag merge sa MWP

    • @ Venus Rah Mawala’ng galang, na.

Unlikely. First, obviously no residency at all. Second, it appears she is under some sort of gag order on the matter. Even Tita L dismissed the probability.

What I think it is – Jonas Gaffud through Mercator will represent her in the country and will probably bring her over for some jobs. That’s it.

  9. I hope they will train the winner not to be timid, to project her words across well – and definitely NOT focus on too much useless glamour shots!

    • Lia and all of MUPO. MU is still a competetion. “Empowering Filipina Women” is a noble mission statement. However, mere top 20 finishes -or less-on a consistent basis will weaken or nullify its meaning and will mean nothing but words. Sorry.

MUPO needs to be an empowered organization with top 10-5-3-1 results over the next few years, first and foremost. I know that is a lot to ask for but it comes with the territory of the powerhouse that is Philippine pageantry. Your task is to keep fielding contenders NOT pretenders.

      All the best.

      • Crossing our fingers that this new franchise will mirror the success of Bb. It has a huge shoe to fill for sure. Let’s aim for that coveted top 10 finisher on its first year 🙂
