  1. above all these thoughts, ang. MUP will. just simply. open a door sa isang npakagandang binibini who will be coming fr maybe the farthest barangay barrio or sitio or town somewhere herein our country na maaring hnd kilala ng karamihan as in wlang wla pro may nattago plang kakanyahan at kakayahan… bsta isa syang gurl nangangarap or nangarap pro hnd nya knw san knino at pnu mgkkaroon ng katuparan yun.ksi wlang naniniwala s knya. now nanjan n ang MUP will. make it happen.

  2. 50 candidates nga sa golden edition ng BBP, napaka crowded na ng stage. how much more pa with all 87 provinces represented. Maybe mas maganda na kahit 30, i group nila like luzon, visayas and mindanao during intro like how MU used to do it in the 90’s.

Since inaugural edition, dapat pasabog agad sa qualities ng mga girls sans all the fillers!

  3. Too late in the game to get candidates from Batanes to Tawi tawi… with deadlines only a week left. Probable in the next editions but not these year. An Obvious ploy to lure more applicants???

  4. There might not be any existing law in the Philippines legalizing gender change. However, there is no existing law either prohibiting any transgender from participating any social activities like beauty pageant. Given the fact that MU allowed a transgender to represent Spain, it would be too counterproductive and rather discriminatory for MUP to prohibit or outright dismiss any transgender from participating in the upcoming MUP.
If MUP is really intent on holistic rebranding, then they should be more inclusive and proactive with gender equality by welcoming any transgender who dare to compete.

    • Nationals maybe but winning MUP might be more hindrance in order to become Philippines’ representative at Miss Universe because of their lack of legal documents that they are legally female. Until the Congress will not act on it, the chances of the transgenders competing will be very slim.

  5. 1. Dehado ang NCR dito? All 16 cities and the municipality of Pateros have the same status as provinces.
    2. Candidates from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao? Will the girls wear hijab and “burkini” just like Miss Aceh of Puteri Indonesia?

    • Si Ms Pateros lang lugi kasi Municipality lang sya… meaning kailangan nya sumali kung saan mang provincial/regional pageant or karatig na City to be qualified for the Nationals… Miss Bicolandia, Ms. Cebu, Ms. Ilokandia, Ms. Laguna, Mutya ng Davao and Ms. Manila, Ms. Paranaque, Ms. Makati, Ms. Mandaluyong, Mutya ng Pasig, etc… would automaticaly qualify them for the nationals… same with the winners of Miss Milenial, Ms. Slimmers world, Century Tuna, Miss Scuba Philippines, Miss Global ph, Miss Earth ph, Mutya Pilipinas, etc… as long as they fit the age and height requirements…

      • Pateros is the only municipality that is not part of a province. Technically Pateros is an independent municipality that never elected a provincial governor unlike the municipalities in the provinces.

    • @ Closer2Fame Before even thinking about winning MU 2020, she is, FIRST OF ALL, MUP.

SHE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO BRING IN THE NUMBERS FOR HER NOW-BELEAGUERED ORG.

Right now, only Teresita Ssen can safely manage this. But she is up to her neck in show business commitments; that was the subject of the dedicated teaser. And as Mr. Tinio said, only a twist of fate can make her join MUP 2020.

But if this will be your presumptive best-case Top 5…..

      I will “mess it up” as – MUP 2020 Marquez, 1st Runner-up Manalo, 2nd Runner-up Akeel, 3rd Runner-up either Marie Que or eager-beaver McDonnell (both of Butuan City), & 4th Runner-up Malinao.

      • Well I guess McDonnel could easily beat Alyza in the Q&A… No surprise there…

kunwari taga Basilan taga Misamis ganyan

    BBP is top pageant

    • Parang GANITO: Alaiza Malinao – Davao del Sur!, Julia Subier, Albay! Ahtisa Manalo, Quezon! Hannah Arnold Masbate! Sharifa Akeel, Sultan Kudarat! Pilipinas. There are 81 provinces in the Philippines, sobrang dami, baka babaha din ang cannot communicate well. Nangyari na ito sa Miss Philippine Red Cross way back in the 80s. Wala, 2 taon lang ang itinagal. KAHIT 20 LANG ANG CANDIDATES BASTA LAHAT MATAAS ANG SCORE SA I.Q TEST AT ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST, pwede na. He, he, he…

  8. Three (3) questions just came to mind.

    1. Was that Fil-Am Bantigue, the Tech CEO?
    2. Will MUP offer regional/provincial franchises beginning 2021? If so, what will the standard rate be?
    3. How is your Fil-European “alaga”, Mr. Tinio? Will she satisfy that six(6)-month residency, herself?

    🙂

  9. And if the deadline is set until the end of the month….I don’t think this would still be feasible in all aspects.

  10. So the format will be like miss usa? Most if not all provinces in the country will be represented?
    6 months residency?

Tito Norms would you know if MUP accepts transgender women applicants?

    • There is still no law about the right to change gender, so transgenders can’t compete at MUP because they still don’t have legal papers that they are legally female unless you need to go to Supreme Court for the petition.

      • There may not be any existing law in the Philippines legalizing gender change. But at the same time, there is no existing law prohibiting any transgender from participating any social activities including beauty pageants. Given the fact that MU allowed a transgender to represent Spain, it would be too counterproductive and rather discriminatory for MUP to prohibit and discourage any transgender from participating in the upcoming MUP.

If MUP is really proactive in holistic rebranding, then they should be more inclusive by advocating gender equality and welcome any transgender who dare to compete.

      • rafael solano They can compete at MUP but they are ineligible as a candidate for Miss Universe just like Thailand since they don’t have legal papers as legally female to qualify as a official candidate for Miss Universe competition unless the Congress should enact the law that will legalize these transgenders as legally female in their document.
