    • Wtf?! Excuse me?! Gamitin pa talaga nick ko?!.. Wow, how desperate.. Sino nanamang bitter sa mga comments ko nag post nito?! Hahaha

Nway, wala ako ako paki… I will still continue posting my opinions on this blog… Tama! Wag kayo tatanga tanga cause I’m more than willing to state the truth!

  2. India FINALLY got a title this year. Congrats! Pretty girl, she is. 🙂

Her Runner-up Court is comprised of Paraguay and Botswana. It looks like a MW result (Hihihih…).

Francezka made the Top 7. Not bad, at all.

  3. @Casper

re: “..’when a beauty pageant, the Vatican and Liberace collide’..”
    Too funny! Left in stitches.

In the designer’s defense, the costume is definitely unique. Never seen anything like it.

    • Really? You have never seen a Sagala/Sta. Cruzan costume? Did you not grew up here?

  4. Ka look alike niya si Ana Ramsey.

Kakanta daw siya ng Let it Go during the NC presentation.

    CHAROT!

  5. ARE YOU SURE NORMAN SHE IS JOINING MISS TEEN INTERNATIONAL? MUKHA NA SIYANG MAY APO RITO JUST LIKE THE STYLING OF MISS DEE IN MISS WORLD. VERY BAD HAIR STYLE & MAKE UP. THE NATIONAL COSTUME ALSO MAKES HER VERY OLD. DAPAT YOUTHFUL LOOKING ANG MAKE UP (pastel to bright colors), PLAYFUL HAIRSTYLE (flowing, curls, etc.) &A FESTIVE NATIONAL COSTUME (happy, vibrant, etc.). Sino ba ang stylist nito? BAKA MISS/MRS. GRANDMA INTERNATIONAL ang SASALIHAN nito. CHANGE THE PICTURES. LORD!!!

  6. Wow, this dress is what happens when a beauty pageant, the Vatican, and Liberace collide at the intersection of bad seamstress street and trying too hard road! A cluster f*** of an outfit disaster sure to turn heads — and leaves you scratching yours.

  7. I am sure Chico Estiva is a very talented designer and I admired his elaborate design of Miss Philippines Leren Bautista’s National Costume at the Miss Globe 2019. I just hope the amazing National Costume of Miss Teen International Philippines 2019 will boost her chance to bring home the crown.

  8. Good heavens. It appears she is standing on three large pin cushions.
    Sorry folks.

  9. What a DUMB costume!!!
What is this costume all about?!
How the Philippines is colonized by the Vatican and how the Catholic church used religion to enslave the Filipino masses?! Thanks for telling the world that Chico Estiva is an idiot!

    • Even without the subjugation context, the costume is just tacky and impractical. Is there a glider under her feet so she can move from spot to spot?

      • Exactly!… and why all this Catholic Queen inspiration?!!! I can’t even get over those Sinulog related costumes from other designers and now this
.. LOL it doesn’t even look good.

      • I get you, I really do. I get your passion & fury against the (many) crimes of the Catholic church.

But you can’t educate people & get them to hear your (valid) message when you call them idiots.

        It’s off-putting & rude.

Perhaps almost as rude as the Catholic church’s role in colonizing / subjugating non-Western nations.

Perhaps it would be more effective to provide (definitely needed) historical context to the inspiration of many of our national costumes without name-calling.

And in order to be more constructive, you may perhaps also provide a list of woke / progressive historical figures or kwentos (mood boards as it were), to provide direction & inspiration for our national costume designers.

        It’s so easy to criticize.

Let’s be better & try to be constructive.

      • @SQ

I have been commenting here for almost a decade… Making suggestions.. posting historical refferences but nobody seems to listen…. and some of the regular commenters here just criticized me for acting like a know it all.. and if these designers did listen… sasabihan pa ako na wala daw ako kinalaman dun sa winning idea nung designer… Honestly, I love making suggestions…. last time, nag suggest ako dun sa isang pageant designer, tinarayan lang ako… feeling daw kasi nya inaunderestimate ko daw sya…. pwe! Pero I still continued posting my opinions and suggestions on this blog… actually, Tito Norm’s national costume topics are my favorites before which I always look forward to… But after Rachel Peter’s crappy national costume… I gave up… Seems like its easier for them to improve when you bash them heavily… parang yung sinungitan ako na designer… ngayon lang naman sobrang gumanda designs nya pero nung nagsisimula sya.. mukhang christmas ornaments gawa nya… ew! As if naman hindi nakatulong mga suggestions ko sa kanya dati… And to Chico Estiva research research din ng history… In fairness, I like your singkil costume for Leren Bautista kahit medyo me halong Santo Niño ang peg… hindi yang puro pang reyna elena inspired lagi mga costume na gawa mo… sige pagbigyan ko tong si SQ ..

Please watch the history of your hometown and your ancestors…

PS.. hindi po yan fake news. :-/

    • @ Closer2Fame Hhmmm….. And the rosary is REALLY telling….

But like I said, remove the Catholic references and stick to blue “kiping” bundles, could have been less…. provocative?…..

      🙂

PS When I said “Balenciaga”, I was referring to that skirt detail. Although the eminent Spanish couturier was a devout Catholic, as far as I know.

Anyway, we always value your scholarship. Thx.

      • @Flor

        Oh good lhawd…
He is indeed a devout Catholic!.. LOL and yet he has no idea that his Chinese ancestors were persecuted by the Catholic church.. Doesn’t he even have an idea that his own hometown was built to escape religious persecution?!!!.. LOL He obviously wasn’t paying attention in history class…

  10. NICE. Very Balenciaga. 🙂

It would still work sans the cape.

The blue is a nice change of color pace; I have to admit the recent deluge of hot pink and gold gave major umay factor.

The skirt detail looks like bluebery-and-mint macarons, stacked as at a patisserie.

    Yummy for the pre-Christmas tummy!
