  1. Pinoy fans destroying their own MGI candidate. Mostly Catriona fans actually. MGI will always be MGI. Sana support nyo na lang si Samantha kasi despite the circumstances she is doing her best. Crab mentality ng mga Pinoy talaga panira. No patriotism in the blood kaya naagawan ng isla ng China. LOL In the end Pinoy ang losers sa ginagawa ng mga baklang walang trabaho pucho-pucho ang utak hindi naman nakakatulong itaas ang discourse. Pray hard for Samantha because she is doing her best kaso ayun Pinoy ang sumira sa representative nila.

  2. I see this as a case of the nerves getting the better of Samantha Lo. I’m quite disappointed about the situation myself, but neither can I really blame her given the kind of stress she has been going through. All things considered, let’s not drag her down any further and just remind ourselves that she is still our very own who deserves our support for representing the country no matter what.

  3. It is unfortunate that with the issues that Sam is facing, the support of Filipinos will be polarized, noting that some of them are selectively unforgiving. Also considering the animosity of the MGI organizers towards Filipino pageant enthusiasts and the continued banters that seem to be unproductive, her chances of even making the first cut is slipping away. Much as I feel for her because preparing for pageants is an arduous task, my view is that given her unguarded reactions to alleged “fake” news, her preparations proved wanting because obviously she wasn’t psyched enough to manage situations of this sort gracefully. In my opinion, the less we talk about this matter in various sites the better so we can give her room to ponder on and concentrate more on how she can perform well to “salvage” whatever bad blood this has caused among the organizers, fans and her. The least we can do is just let her complete her mission and temper our expectations realistically.

  5. Ok, finally saw some screenshots which confirms that Sam did let out some frustrations on her IG stories, and did so in a less-than-graceful way. However, I’m cutting her some slack. I understand where she’s coming from.

Nawat has actually shown a lot of respect for Philippine pageantry, including attending Bb Pilipinas coronation night. Before Eva, our representatives actually did quite well at MGI, even outperforming the hometown delegate (Thailand) on many years. Pinoy fans only turned on MGI after Eva failed to make the cut last year (she had a gorgeous face but her presentation & energy was subpar—& they could not objectively accept that). They started calling the pageant cheap & its results fixed. To me, this was sour graping by many Pinoy fans—to suddenly bad mouth & diminish MGI simply because it hasn’t crowned a Pinay queen during this period of our resurgence in international pageantry. If the pageant is “cheap” & therefore not worthy of our queens, why are we so frustrated at not having won it—& so noisy with our frustration. Haven’t we learned that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference?

Of course it didn’t help that Nawat started trolling Pinoy fans. The fans would call MGI cheap & a cooking show. But then kapag pumatol si Nawat, making mocking references to the cooking show insult, the Pinoy fans would turn on him even more for making patol.

Like Miss Earth, MGI is a Southeast Asian brand. Both are still young & have yet to establish the prestige of the big three—Universe, World, International. For me, compared to Miss Earth, MGI has the edge right now. It offers a bigger cash prize & its finals are hosted in different parts of the world (also, the Earth crown always goes to a KF candidate anyway).

Sam personally called the people at MGI to find out if the story about the fire was true. They assured her everything was fine. She was frustrated that the story which was meant to discredit & embarrass MGI gained so much traction among many Pinoy pageant fans (again, why do we care so much if MGI is not worthy of our delegates?) She was distressed that as the representative of our country, she was placed in a position where she would have to apologize to the MGI organizers for a story about a small fire that turned into a disaster in the telling. It’s like Pinoys almost wanted the fire to be a Ok, finally saw some screenshots which confirms that Sam did let out some frustrations on her IG stories, and did so in a less-than-graceful way. It’s like Pinoys almost wanted the fire to be a disaster, if only so that they can further denigrate Nawat for trying to turn his Southeast Asian pageant into a prestigious international brand.

Sam has worked hard to represent us. Her reaction was a boo-boo & I hope she will be accountable for it. But I see the fire in her, her excitement & pride at having the chance to represent us. So I will support her.

    • oops, sir norman, my comment was duplicated in my reply. i have no idea how. please edit accordingly. thank you.

  6. I really hope BPCI would drop the MGI franchise after this year. I mean, meh. do i have to explain pa ba?

LOL

  7. This girl is willing to lick Nawat’s ass just to get the crown. What an act of desperation!
FYI, Philippines is not craving a crown from that cheap and classless pageant.

    • I don’t think it is realy licking nawat’s ass. siguro what she’s saying is that naghirap siya and all sa training, preparation tapos mati-trigger lang ng kung anu anong keme ang lalong pag dedma sa Pinas. so parang.. sayang lahat ng pinaghirapan niya.

  8. Very unqueenly nagmura sa socmed, ginawa pang sinungaling mga pinoy at kumampi pa sa Nawat dahil sa corona? Traydor

    • She just proved how deserving she is of the MGI crown. Classless.

    • She just proved how deserving she is of the MGI crown. Tactless and classless. Not on the same caliber with Parul, Nicole, Clenci and Eva.

    • Please give details and specifics. Otherwise this is just a malicious yet baseless accusations.

      • I did some online sleuthing & didn’t find anything. So either my online detective skills suck, or this is just another baseless rumor started to denigrate this pageant … which we Pinoys had no problem with until Eva failed to make the cut last year. As much as I wanted to support Eva, her national costume was unremarkable, her evening gown was basic (her Bb Pilipinas gown was more eye-catching), & she came across to me as a bit of a patty with memorized answers. I agree that Nawatt is a troll, but MGI has has even staged a pageant in the US & now South America while Miss Earth is almost always here in the Philippines (plus is biased against darker skinned beauties … remember their Ponds Rosy White Skin Award … like WTF).

Links please so we can judge for ourselves the context in which these alleged remarks were made.

      • @ CatrionaFan

I don’t want to waste time researching on some apparent gossip. The burden of proof is ordinarily in the person who alleges a fact. In this case, that’s you and your ilk. So if you’re alleging that our very own candidate is tactless and classless by badmouthing others for whatever reason, you have the responsibility to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it has indeed occurred. Otherwise, that is nothing more than propagating a lie.

      • LOL! Waste time researching daw.

      • @ CatrionaFan

Sorry not sorry beks but I don’t do IG. Norman’s blog is my primary and oftentimes only source of pageant news. And unlike you, I don’t have all the time in the world to spend idly pouring over socmed. Some of us do have demanding corporate jobs. Okay thanks bye.

    • Yun lang problem sakanya, the use of tactless words sa post niya. Good thing she wasn’t crowned MUP. LOL
