  1. So funny that here in the Phils., perfect English is always the yardstick of one’s intelligence. And I notice ang madalas na mga bashers sa ganitong sitwasyon ay mga gays na masyadong pinalalaki ang issue. Come on guys, we’re all Filipinos at kung may mali man sa English natin is not a big deal dahil second language lang natin Ito and sometimes third pa nga eh dahil sa daming dialects ng Pilipinas. Yung iba nating mga kababayan who speak their native tongue, Tagalog is their 2nd na minsan hirap pang magsalita at mag-pronounce ng Tagalog! So let’s leave the perfect English issue to the Americans, British, Canadians, Aussies, etc. We are Filipinos, not them!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

    • @ Adrienne When MUT and Puteri Indonesia choose as winners candidates with a grasp of “Inggris”, then we know we Filipinos are on the right path by pointing out SMALL/MINOR errors, and merely for polishing. Why deny that we have an advantage? After all, MU is basically an American pageant shown to an American audience (Monday, 0900H in Manila) and the titlist makes the rounds of American mass media and popular culture – Good Morning America, NFL, that talk show with Ryan Seacrest, etc. So is it necessary for Rae to master Polish, or for Attorney Patitay quickly pick up Nihonggo? Not really, I guess. But we have to admit, when we ourselves go abroad either for work or amusement, the locals appreciate that we make an effort to assimilate to our hosts. THE WORLD LOVES ‘DEM FILIPINOS because we know the difference between “Polska” and “Polski” and between “Konnichiwa” and “Kunbanwa”, between “Kirei” and “Kokuryu”. Great travelers, we all are. 🙂

    • I don’t mind grammar mistakes. These errors don’t make anyone a lesser person. In fact being overly cautious with grammar slows down if not impedes language learning. I’m more critical of a public figure’s tone, substance, depth and flow of thoughts. A public speaker needs to articulate a logical, coherent and convincing train of ideas and sentences delivered in an appropriate manner so as to engage the audience. Duterte is a good case study. His grammar isn’t bad but it’s not enough to make him a good public speaker. For one, he frequently fails to complete his sentences and his train of thoughts is haywire. He is oftentimes grasping for words and when he couldn’t find the right words he would just leave the sentence hanging, or he curses, or cracks a joke, but most of the time he just jumps to the next sentence or idea. Tapos boses palaka pa. Lol.. At least si Gaz maganda ang timbre ng boses at nakukumpleto ang sentences. Medyo kulang nga lang sa lalim.

  2. Jusko dinagdagan pa ni Gazini ang “under belt” booboo niya! Ok lang ang wrong grammar pero kung walang sustansya ang sagot mo, di ka papasa sa closed door interview ng MU day! This is why substance is so hard to acquire kung wala talaga nun!

  3. Jusko mga vakla makapanglait akala mo kepeperfect. Lols. “Different” and “various” are synonyms. Parang “yung mga vakla dito ay ‘unpleasant, nasty’ individuals” inulit lang para mas may diin and punto sa gusto niya sabihin. Foreigners, particularly Americans, don’t give a fuck if may grammatical error ka conversing casually. Sa mga nakausap ko na americans, yan yung negative na ayaw nila saten na we make fun of those who try to speak english. Sa totoo lang, mga pinoys lang may mentalidad na ganyan kaya kahit isa tayo sa top english speaking countries, dami takot mag english sa fear of being ridiculed if nagkamali. English is not a measure of intelligence. Hindi “status” symbol if perfect ka sa grammar. Kaya nga mas maunlad ang countries like Japan and Korea saten kasi they speak their native language and never sila nagmomock ng kapwa if hindi marunong magenglish. Kahiya yung ibang bakla dito. Tanong, ganiyan ba kasad life nila kasi apparently “speaking fluently” sa english lang kaya pagmalaki?

    • ‘Wag mong lagyan ng comma ang wala naman. Listen again. She said “different various,” not “different, various.” Ok naman magkamali, it’s just that, the way she said it, parang magpaimpress lang na alam nya gamitin ang “various.” Ayun na eh, may “different” eh, ba’t pa dadagagan ng less commonly used term? Simplehan na lang kasi nga, per Ariel Rivera, “simpleng buhay ay kay ganda.”

      • Tumpak si Lurker. Look at Venus, nagdouble major sa QnA pwede namang isang major lang. Ayun 4th honor este 4th runner up lang. Lol

    • Bakit kasi Mali ipinagtatanngol pa
Different various vs unpleasant nasty are different . The former is not normally used together . If you want to emphasize your point , u can use really or very before different .
And the Americans u mentioned were simply sucking up to you . In the real world , u see a lot of Them complaining why some foreigners have poor grammar and diction … especially in academics .
Why Korea and Japan are richer than the Philippines cannot be ascribed to simple language issues. Their educational system ( among other things) is top notch .

      • Galing mo Fab sa luda mong ito. Gusto kitang bigyan ng different various pero major major na crown. Lol

  4. @ Lurker Speaking of “different various”, notice how SamAsh says “Uh-bun-duh” instead of “Uh-boon-duh”. Tulad mo, dati rin ako. Ngayon, provocateur-nearly-basher na ba’ko, Admin? 🙂

Blogger, am I correct in assuming you don’t really warm up to “cosmopolitan smarty-pants-semi-meanies” like SamAsh & Rae, and partial to “simple sweeties” like Leren, Aya, Attorney, & JazzyGaz?

And speaking of Attorney, thanks to Alvin Sebetero and Info Info Kece, I am also liking Perviy of Belarus and Prchalova of Czecka. Europe MUST ALWAYS enter MI’s Top 5! Like Romania’s Bianca Tirsin last year. Attorney, YOU NEED TO HUSTLE. At least reach the Speech round. Excited for you.

  5. Pardon my saying so but Mr. Abunda looks very dignified, distinguished and respectable in a suit.

    It is refreshing see.

    Two 👍👍 up.

    • He’s a big time b——h and an a—h—-
      A user and an ingrate.

      • I don’t hate him. I don’t like him either.
I remember watching him in one of his tv shows with Kris, early hosting job niya, and he proclaimed himself as a professional social climber.
Surprised na sumikat siya at may hosting career pa rin hanggang ngayon.
