  4. Zuleyka Rivera favorites:

“Tengo muchas favoritas”, añadió Zuleyka, “entre ellas: Philippines, Canada, China, Vietnam, South Africa, Albania, India, Chile, Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Jamaica, Ecuador, El Salvador”.

    • Kurara Chibana should haved been Miss Universe in 2006. Not this girl. Could have been back to back with Riyo Mori. No doubt, Japan is not on her list. Can’t forget her face when she crowned Riyo Mori!. Attitude!

  5. Nakakapraning mag look around sa misso, hahaha, mas okay dito. Except of course the names I auto scroll through.

  6. So top 20 to 10 if I’m not mistaken yung top 10 nila is already clear kung baga pa chichi nalang yung top 20 kasi sila din yung judge dibah. From top 10 back to zero.

    • I have a similar hunch!

So agree ako sayo!

Real cooking show lol 😂”. I guess this is how low they’ll really get.

We all know that MU brand has established its goodwill. Since IMG took over the pageant, we all know that they crowned the deserving ones.

      That’s all.

    • But then again, what do you expect from that “pageant” ? You just can’t buy class. This is the biggest slap in the face of that Nawat guy, Miss Universe is very warmly welcomed & accepted by the Thais compared to his cheap ass “pageant”.

  8. Watching the preliminary competition again, the opening video has more shots of Catriona (four in all) than any candidate. Sign of Miss Universe’s love for Cat? I hope so. ❤️

  9. Last year, Great Britain wore a Filipino designer gown. I was hoping after making the top 16, she would make the cut to the top 10 so that she could have shown off the gown… it was a red VAVAVOOM gown

  10. Speaking of gown,

May pumunit daw nung gown ni Miss Guatemala during the prelims,

White featherish Yung pang itaas tapos black Yung pinaka-skirt Niya! Hulaan niyo kung Sino siya? 😁😁😁

Top pick ni Zuleyka Rivera si Catriona to win the MU crown! And wala sa listahan Niya kababayan Niya!

  11. To all catriona supporters,
Let the bashers post what they want. They are just there to provoke the supporters. Huwag pansisnin, dont reply to their posts. Anyway, sa monday naman kakainin nila sarili nilang suka just like dogs. Lalo na yung prominent pia basher in 2015 though ngayon di naman nya masyadong binabash si catriona, pero wal rin syang masabing maganda sa kanya.myou know whi you are.

    • This is just the beginning of a bright new era of Philippine designers for those locally-based. @Norman, this is a great post! Thank you. You have showcased the Philippine designers for the world to see. I would respectfully suggest if you can do same in the next seasons.

There will be new Filipino names to sprout. The budding designers can look for the newest information (either for education or inspiration) from the internet. Utilizing social media and influencers, are a great way to get their names known. Besides, the new generation has more energy than the “getting old” ones as they would no longer be that adventurous. It is just how nature is.

So for the new generation, continue the fire of the Philippine beauty (pageant) industry. I know you can do it. Millennials and Gen Z are very idealistic. They want what is right and authentic. Hence, this Filipiniana inspired things are a big thing for them. For those criticizing our candidate, sad to say, it just shows your age.

There is a significant potential in the beauty industry. According to Statistica.com, there is a dramatic leap in interest in the beauty industry this year. I saw that stats last night, but I can no longer view now because of limited provided access by the site.

  12. Just when you thought this blog was safe to return to & have lively (but respectful) exchanges of conversations on pageantry, the trolls have taken over again. Sir Norman’s coverage is commendable, and I applaud his efforts & work. However, if the trolls are allowed to remain, then the readers who appreciate decency will leave again. I think the trolls are intentionally trying to ruin this blog. It’s too bad Sir Norman is allowing them to do just that.

  13. IMG brand

    2015 Asia
    2016 Europe
    2017 Africa

    2018 – Americas or Oceania
    could be MU18
    Australia
    Canada
    Puerto Rico
    Mexico
    Venezuela

may chance ka pa represent ang Australia don’t worry if manalo Americas this year
for sure Oceania na next year —- Australia!!

    • if and only if she doesn’t win MU18

she could actually represent Cairns, Queensland in Australia national pageant
then Australia for MU19 and MW20

      she will truely make history!

  14. making history.

    1st Filipina halfie banyaga to
make it to top 5 MW
    and top 5 MU

    Catriona Gray, Philippines

    at 24
I think she can still represent Australia for MW19
    and MU20

she will make history as the 1st Australian to do so too.

    Catriona Gray, Australia

    • Actually pwede.

Catriona Gay, I mean Catriona Gray is…..

      Miss Universe 2018.

And I Thank you, Next !

    • For someone who keeps on proclaiming that beauty pageants are no longer relevant nowadays, you have invested a hefty amount of time commenting here. Which is odd because your belief and behavior in this blog are contradictory to each other.

You say that first world countries don’t focus on pageants. There’s a reality to it. But that coming from you, you definitely don’t belong in a first world country because you should have not cared about this in the first place.

You say that Catriona is fat. She isn’t. There are obvious changes in her body. She’s is not unflattering in her swimsuit, as evidenced by praises from people around the world. And that, negates your statment that she is fat. Another strike.

You keep on insisting that she won’t place higher in the finals. Well, it’s still anybody’s game, I give you that. But come on! She gave an awesome performance during the prelims. Who knows what she’ll bring come this finals to the stage if she is in the top 20? You can’t deny that. You must have a peculiar set of standards that is unconventional. It’s okay to be unique in thought, but you don’t have to berrate anyone because you have a twisted mind.

And yeah, you keep on insisting as well that she will join another contest in the future if she loses MU. I think not. Cat is a perfectionist. And a perfectionist always settle for the best.

Fatty Vettita/glora, when you troll, at least make your statements cohesive to each other. Make them not contrary to each other, so that you’ll sound more believable. And never assume you’re from a first world country. If you’re really from there, you won’t have time to comment in this blog. It’s busy out there. Unless, you’re under welfare support or under disability assistance, that would explain your unproductivity.

Before I forget, everyone is free to comment in this blog about whatever they want to say. That also includes you. So, stop reprimanding people who comment about Catriona. It’s their right and privilege as well. Look at you, you can’t be stopped even if people are cursing you for your derogatory remarks. Be fair.

Pre, you’re confusing and full of contradictions. Get a life. It will do good on you.

And yeah, your IP address will be blocked soon. And even if you use a VPN, you’ll still be banned in the future. It’s not hard to miss you out. Enjoy while you still can!

      • I don’t like my own comments here. It’s already a given that I like my statements, that’s why I post them. I don’t need to be redundant about it by clicking the like button. 😉

      • I read Chutima’s lengthy comment because it makes a lot of sense. Please, with all due respect, I think you need a Psychiatrist. Attention-seeking behavior needs psychiatric help. It might not be too late to restore your sanity.

  15. this is a blog
and not exclusive for Catriona blind fans

    free to comment whatever

    • Then cheer your favorite contestant and avoid Catriona at all cost.

    • True. It’s either she does a Paulina Vega, strong all throughout, or an Ariadna Gutierrez, almost made it. I can see her doing a Paulina Vega, a front runner from start to finish. Monday is so near!

  16. After watching it 10x, I finally realized that Cat did a great job .
I think her biggest competition is Canada… then South Africa . These girls are really supermodel calibre
If Cat is favored by the MUO , Canada And SA will be eliminated very soon.
Then there is India Russia Australia Japan PR and Venezuela .

Wow Cat has a tough competition ahead . But Cat will prevail if they want a good girl over a sexbomb.

    • Well IMG definitely wants more than a sexbomb, so Cat is ahead in that sense.

Donald Trump and 2008 called – they want the Miss Universe you are thinking of back. Well, maybe not Donald as he is now unfortunately the president of our unfortunate country. Dayana probably wants it back though. Come to think of it, she was the last time we had a memorable twirl on the MU stage.

Until Cat’s the other day of course. Good Girl FTW!

  17. I used to be a non-fan of Catriona. But her hardwork and determination changed my views about her. She may not be one hundred percent Filipino, but I think she knows more about the our culture and history more than any native Filipino residing in the country for the entirety of their lives. That amazed me. A lot.

That walk. I still can’t get over it.

  18. Multiple choice: GENERALLY ANO ANG DAHILAN BAKIT NEGA/BASHING ANG GINAGAWA NG MGA IBANG PINOY DITO NA NAG COCOMMENT DITO AT AYAW SUPORTAHAN SI CAT?
    A. HINDI KASI NANALO ANG MANOK NILA NOONG BINIBINING PILIPINAS
    B. ISA SILA SA MGA PAKAWALA NI JONAS GAFFUD
    C. KULANG SILA SA PANSIN KAYA UHAW NA UHAW SA ATTENTION
    D. NASA DUGO NA NILA TALAGA ANG PAGIGING MAPANGLAIT/ FAULT FINDER
    E. INSECURE SA SARILI

  19. Thank you MJ Lastimisa, Stella Marquez and Bazzara… though it should have happened sooner. At least, it finally happened.

Who would have thought that we’d owe MJ’s Miss Universe fiasco the recognition of Philippine designers in the global (at the very least, the Miss U) stage.

    – 2014, Philippine pageant fans rise up against MJ’s bazzura gown
    – Stella Marquez finally allows Pinoy designers to dress up their queens
    – 2015, Pia Wurtzbach is first to do so (an Albert Andrada) and breaks the over 40 years of drought by bringing home
    – Another Filipino designer, Micheal Cinco dresses up Pia in a stunning blue princess gown on her farewell walk that wows everyone
    – 2016, Iris Mittenaere does a Take 2 by donning the same designer during her final walk
    – 2018, Filipino designers dress up 12 candidates in Miss Universe 2018.
    – Additionally, the fringe gown started by Maxine Medina (a Rhett Eala) is now a universal trend

With all the Philippine indigenous fabrics and designs that Catriona has PROUDLY AND IMPECCABLY been showcasing, who knows what’s in store for Filipino fashion design in the next couple of years…

    • Stella Marquez Araneta was never budged with the fiasco and uproar caused by Barazza’s gowns until Pia Wurtzbach had a conversation with her. Swearing she will take home the crown, Wurtzbach convinced Araneta to permit her to wear a Filipino designed gown.

  20. I hope Ms. Philippines has another gown because that orange gown is underwhelming.
And those platform shoes she’s wearing. Thumbs down.
A candidate only has a very short amount of time on stage to wow the judges.
She needs an impressive gown that a Hollywood actress would wear on a red carpet event.

  22. Imagine, in 2009 the country was enduring a pageant drought placing only twice since 1996.
2010 was thr breakthrough year and what a wonderful decade it has been. Filipino pageant fans have been treated to a ride that has been nothing short of adventurous!
    Who would have thought in 2009 that a decade later the Philippines would have;
    1 Miss Universe crown,
    1 first runner up,
    2 third runners-up,
    1 fourth runner up,
    1 top 6 placement and
    2 top 10 placements,
and finally have talented Filipino designers creating the gowns for our bets?

    That said…GO CATRIONA GO!
    ❤💙💛

    • And that is courtesy of Jonas Gaffud who is so disrespected nowadays by some commenters here who have been calling his names likes Ahas etc. The guy deserves a little respect. Some Catriona fans are really mean to him in social media.
      Very sad!

  23. My newsfeed about Miss USA is too much. Most of the people saying she’s a bully are Filipinos, and the contagious hatred spread all over.

Only in the Philippines do we associate English with intelligence. Pwede ba.

If you watch her interviews nung Miss USA pa sya sa Steve Harvey show, even nung nanalo siya sa Miss USA, talagang ganon na si girl.

So yung 3 tindera nag usap:

Tindera 1: Ang hirap siguro ni isang tagalog wala siyang alam ala e.
Tindera 2: Oo nga baka wala siyang makausap. Nakakalito yan. Buti ikaw kahit kaunti may alam ka
Tindera 3: Ay siyang tunay kahit papaano’y nakakaintindi ako.

    • so 3rd world levels

      culturally ignorant kasi

ng free BBC or National Geographic

      LOL

      • Wala namang problema sa eat bulaga or showtime. Kultura natin yan eh masayahin.

        satirical and realistic lang

        no offence meant nothing personal

        purely comments only

      • haha i know kaya nga di ako pumapatol, yung iba dito nagpapahighblood sa mga comments mo kakaloka as if naman our comments will matter in 5 years

Less talk less mistakes. Miss USA caught her foot in her mouth. Hahaha

      • Alex , I am not questioning USA ‘s intentions . I’m sure they were innocent . What I’m worried abt is how you lump Pinoy together and how u quickly assume they intend to destroy USA’s life .
U r so forgiving to USA … why can’t you do the same to your compatriots ?
U r like Lani misalucha who is so accommodating to her foreign fans but won’t even look at her Pinoy fans in the eyes .

      • @Fabian the first people who come up with the video are the Pinoys, and it is us who kept tagging Miss U org and the director in social media, ABS CBN writing about it first then it began to spread with hatred comments. Yes the intention to downgrade them is obvious otherwise these people would have just shrugged it off. All I know is that US in fact befriended Cambodia first in spite of the language barrier. She would have just stopped hanging out with the girl if she’s annoyed but clearly she isn’t.

Just felt bad for these women, might cause them the crown. Even Colombia who did nothing.

    • Alex, The real problem is some Pinoys especially those who live abroad never p l put blame on other Filipinos . In their minds , it’s always the Filipinos ‘ fault … like what what I am hearing from u.
If u could forgive USA because ‘ well, she’s just being herself ‘ , why not do the same to Pinoys who are prob just genuinely concerned abt Vietnam?

      • Come on. Ask Miss Vietnam and Miss Cambodia themselves if they are offended with the same intensity as Filipino fanatics who had the time to make and edit videos. Syempre go with the popular tayong mga tao, the more likes the more favourable, the more hatred ganon na rin ang perception ng iba. Yung pag edit edit pa ng video this time with the real intention to downgrade these reckless girls. That’s a really reckless move on their part, plus Miss USA coming from Nebraska, na wala masyadong contact sa ibang lahi, ignorante sa ideya ng political correctness. Alam naman niyang public video yun and if sinasadya niya malamang she would do the real “backstabbing” as most of you see it offline.

    • Their intentions are good but misplaced. USA and Australia feel bad for the non-English speaking candidates but why? The world can be enjoyed without speaking the language. Forgive them still for their ignorance.

    • Napanood mo ba yun buong interview.

Miss Vietnam may understand English but we all know how fast Native speakers of any language speak so maybe she didn’t understand everything Miss USA was saying.

      • True they should have just turned off the camera. Yun yung mali nila, di nila inexpect may mga budhing mahilig magpalaki ng issue. Reckless talaga. Pati NBC and CNN nakaheadline sa news feed ko. Dirediretso kasi talaga mga Westerners, kaya nga sila madalas colonizer. Walang preno. Nag apologize na nga… Pati food preference nung isang candidate issue?

    • Veks what you do not get is how it was delivered in the live video. Sarah sounded very condescending towards Vietnam to the point that she imitated how an ignorant Vietnam reacted.

There was a better way to show sympathy to someone but mimicking one’s reaction does not do it.

    • Are you another bobo? No matter what your opinion or interpretation is, what Ms USA said and did was WRONG together with her company. The laughter even added insult to injury. I don’t want to go into details because you have probably read all the comments from around the world. Its’ all over US mainstream media. Pls dont single out Pinoys commenting because I did a lot of checking as well. No, most of them are Americans themselves. You are making up stories. Be sane.

      • Yeah most of them Hispanics/African Americans because it is that easy to hate on a blonde girl with that kind of voice but really, there is nothing in that video that explains her entire being

  24. 1st Filipina to
make it to top 5 MW
    and top 5 MU

    Catriona Gray, Philippines

    at 24
I think she can still represent Australia for MW19
    and MU20

she will make history as the 1st Australian to do so too.

    Catriona Gray, Australia

  25. Veks, do not dismiss Puerto as one of the favorites to win a crown. I was watching Nia Sanchez’ vlog on youtube with Susie and the other girl. They mentioned Kiara’s backstory a little bit where she went to Miss Puerto Rico office as is “fat” in pageant standards. She was told to work hard and work on her body and her transformation was amazing. She has also has a modern “cinderella” story so watch out for her fighting with Cat on Monday. Also caught my attention is Namibia. She has that classic beauty written all over her face.
    https://www.nuevamujer.com/moda-belleza/2018/09/21/la-increible-transformacion-de-kiara-liz-ortega-antes-de-ser-miss-universe-puerto-rico.html

  27. these beauty pageants are for 3rd worlds
    Philippines
    Thailand
    Colombia
    Vietnam
    etc

wala nga sa news yan sa 1st world

sa 1st world country news and current affairs
    and documentaries umaga tanghali gabi

    ang Pinas
teleserye umaga tanghali gabi kaya puro drama
    maski commercials puro drama
tas singit mo pa showtime and eat bulaga. nu ba yan.
so many years ganun pa rin.

    • FV,

Patola muna ako. To educate you — MU is the most watched pageant on the planet, and the country that has a large portion of viewers is the United States of America. US is a first world country. Dapat alam mo ‘yan kase ikaw nag-brought up ng concept ng third world. Yet, Fox, the copyright licensee of Miss Universe has to put its broadcast on primetime to maintain its viewership.

You should not bark here–in the wrong tree–dahlin’.

      AW

      • Pare,

MW is the most watched pageant haller do your research.

and last year sa PlanetHollywoodna cheap venue lang ginawa maski ang NatCos Barangay levels

sabi nga ni Janine Tugonon : nasa profile daw nya na Miss Universe runner up sya nung nag apply sa model sa NY (yes USA) ang tanong sa kaniya what is that? Miss Universe ay hindi kilala. LOL

      • Iho,

No TV Network in UK broadcasts Miss World, which country incidentally is Miss World’s homebase.

Miss World is also not shown in major televisions in the US. While many countries/colonies/territories join Miss World, ratings in each respective countries/colonies/territories do not tell that they are being watched by many. Take the case in the Philippines alone, MW ratings two Saturdays ago is a fail.

Do your research before you argue with me. OK?

        AW

      • Pinatulan ko na rin yan Ana Winter. Someone like her should vanish from the earth to make our planet a better place to live. Hahaha. Poor girl

      • LoLo,

we are talking about all types of media
in particular social media not only TV na black and white pa yata alam mo

MW is the most watched maski naka data ka lang like Pinas pwede manood.

sinaunang panahon pa utak mo. broadcast broadcast pang TV 3rd world
        haller

        do your research din Itay.

        FV

      • Wag patulan ang isang taong merong frustration. There is a reason why that creature is being offensive.

Hahaha! Tapos magki-create na naman ng panibagong account.

      • I have proven that the world interest for MU is consistently more than MW. I posted Google Trends somewhere.

    • So true. Kaya 2016 edition ng MU walang Pinoy culture. Ginawa nalang Flo-Rida na decade old talent and Boyz II Men na 50 year olds reliving their glory.

Music pa I Took A Pill In Ibiza.

Buti nalang si Cat, may alam ng deeper historical and cultural significance of the Philippines kahit Austrlian siya.

Even in the US, many Fil-Ams are the same way. Never advancing, just feeding the cycle of the stereotypes people have of them.

But nalang si Monique L’Hullier, at least may free trip to BKK.

    • Ulol ka lang Fatty. You have to remember that Ms. Universe is as American as Walt Disney. And America is a First World country. Bobo!!

    • And yet nandito ka, daily, commenting almost every minute, updated on the goings-on in the world of pageantry. So … lol.

It must be so embarrassing to be you, to have nothing better to do in life than troll. To be so empty & void of love & friendship & human connection that the response to your hate feeds & fulfills your existence. How sad to be you. And embarrassing AF to be you.

  28. Salute to our local designers for dressing some of the candidates in this year’s edition of Miss Universe. Philippines is now a renowned one-stop shop on pageant needs in the world. Who would have thought that we could be world class in this department, in that some countries have got interest in fielding their pageant reps in our training camps and in choosing fashion designers to dress their girls. I will not wonder if one day we become the beauty pageant fashion capital in the world.

While I was reading the list of the designers featured in this blog, there were questions that popped up in my mind leading me to do some researches.

    1. Why was not there Leo Almodal, who was once a household name by being the favorite go-to designer of beauty queens here and abroad? He posts on FB, “I just want to let everyone know that I’m not dressing up any candidate in the miss universe pageant.” Is this due to the controversies he embattled in the past with some candidates, that he decided not to dress up any candidate in any pageant? Leo is an excellent designer. I like his designs.

    2. What are the usual deals between the candidates and the designers? I understand that Mak Tumang has been dressing Cat for free, regardless of the amounts he already spent since BbP up to MU. Ditto with Albert Andrada on Pia. What about the lesser known designers?

    3. Knowing that Michael Cinco is a world-renowned designer, do you think he just lent the gown to Miss Canada? Anyway, I bet that in a year or two Michael will be invited to sit as judge in Miss Universe.

    • One titillating thought — Monique Lhuillier is jotting scores on a girl who dons Michael Cinco. Both designers have put the Philippine map in the fashion world. It may be goosebumps for some Pinoy local designers whose works are being looked at by Monique, no less, on the MU stage.

    • I bet these are paid gigs not for free. And I’m sure that for local pageants, the girl has some verbal contract to stay loyal or be a muse for his or her future shows.

I think Mommy Leo’s price range is up there. So is M5. I can only imagine how much Miss U Canada paid M5. Same for Virgina who might possibly wear an Almodal cum finals night.

      • I agree with Canada and M5 which is probably why she only had one M5 gown that she’ll wear.

      • Canadian national directors don’t pay anything. It is well-known. It is up to the delegate to secure her gown. Cinco probably loaned it to her for some publicity for him. It looks like she was recently in Dubai doing that.

Veronica Limeade does seem to be very excited about a certain red Almodal gown per her social media. She will probably change to it if her recent posts are an indication. Almodal seems to work with KF more than A&Q so I’m sure Valentina Lemonada had to navigate the intricacies of camps during her stint here.

For high end designers like M5 though, pageantry is not exactly the best business plan. Look at Libiran, Miss International and Miss World winners, but nothing since. Abandoned for Miss International this year and his amazing art deco design for Katja went unnoticed.

Angel Sanchez stopped designing for Venezuela and moved to NYC. Gionni Straccia also left Venezuela to work the Miami circuit (although he did dress Angela Ponce this year).

Hopefully Mak’s contribution to the Philippines will pay off for him in the future so he can move beyond the world of pageantry. Jearson D. too.

    • @Ana Winter: I guess the shoots with Almodal are among those rumored to be “photoshoots lang ang ginagawa”. I won’t be surprised if LemonV decided to go with Almodal kasi Katherine Espin looked divine on a Leo Almodal creation. Pero now that he’s cleared up the air, I guess she will be wearing another Bumgarner.

  30. France isa lang gown nanalo naman

Pinas dami arte dami dami gown di naman nananalo

    ayy si Pia pala nanalo

    Maxine chararat ang Finals gown
    Rachel chararat ang babalu
    Fatriona mataba masyado mala Mariel

  31. Cat could have worn any of these other gowns and looked better. Her gown was very detailed and no doubt so much work went into it . Just the heading alone BUT IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR and it was sooooo STIFF. Did Mak not consider how it would move or look on stage? A good designer takes the purpose of the dress in consideration too , he didn’t .

  32. Vietnam best in EG

    Israel runner up

    PR is MU18
    Canada 1st runner up
    SA is 2nd runner up

    Philippines top 5

After all, isn’t the world our runway.

    • Good point! In retrospect MJ would likened to a “sacrifical-lamb.” Her MU experience was certainly a wake-up call of sorts!
      Right on Leah!

  34. Water under the bridge, now, but Ecuador’s gown would have looked stunning on our 2014 bet MJ Lastimosa! That beauty had a picture perfect “hour-glass” body!

    Go Catriona Go!

  35. I wished Malta got a better gown , she was one of my bets until I saw the gown yesterday….
I will be very happy for Cambodia if she makes the cut ! Canada I think is safely through
Ecuador, Japan, Nepal and Nicaragua may be making it too… Kenya big maybe but perhaps No.

Boracay for hosting MU 2019 !!! We should now think ahead who the Bb to represent Pinas in 2019 and 2020. We must not lose the streak !

  36. These are my top 3 evening gown from the filipino designers in order;
    1. Canada – of course it’s Michael Cinco. It reigned over all the metallics during the evening gown competition. It’s just a shame that she will also be wearing this in the finals, she should have reserved this gown for Monday since the novelty has slightly worn off by now.
    2. Japan – Loved the simplicity and how clean and smooth it looked. From a sea of metallics, sequined, and bright and shiny gowns, hers stood out. Also loved the fact that she’ll be using a different one in finals.
    3. Philippines – The gown is so stunning in its own but not so much in motion. It also didn’t help that it did not compliment Cat’s skin tone. Nevertheless the design just blows away, the details are amazing. I personally would have loved this even more if the cut was different since it’s the same with her bbp gown. I did not like this at first but eventually grew on me. And just thinking that Cat’s final gown is even better.. I just can’t wait!

    • Could’ve been there:
Cambodia – would’ve placed this as my first but the gown was too short that the tacky platform heels were showing ugh, this is number 1 in my gown pet peeves.
Kenya – would have loved this more without the cape, gasgas na. It was also ill-fitting, you can see creases on her waist and hips, another one on my gown pet peeves – ill-fitting gowns.

      Disappointing – Malta

The rest are either okay or meh + some of them were also too short.

  37. It would not surprise me if Cambodia makes the first and second cut. Dependent on her interview skills, she just may surprise everyone. She sort of reminds me of Margie Moran… Pretty woman with a quiet elegance.

  38. Psssst!

On the other side, nilaglag nila franchise ng Miss Earth!

Ahihihi! As in gitnang gitna!

    • Fiesta daw sa Puerto Rico kc sila kauna-unahang bansa na naka-cumpleto ng “alpha crowns” and of course, Hindi nila considered major crown ang Miss Earth which is the only crown na Hindi Nila masungkit!

O diba tinalo pa Philippines na Wala pang Intercontinental at MGI at Venezuela na wala pang Supra at MGI? 😏😏😏😏

      • Well, MW and ME may have their shortcomings and scandals from here and there, but NEVER nangyari na lantarang sasabihin ng OWNER ng isang pageant ang: “next time, you’re gonna win!”

        *Credibility has left the chat.*
*Stop the War, Only Update IG has left the chat.*

    • Probable, unless PH decides to host should Gray win. Who knows, Singson’s seat in the jury might be MUO’s way of courting her to host them in PH once again. Perhaps Panama wants to be the next country to host their 3rd MU. Isn’t their national director Justine Pasek’s business partner?

  39. I can feel the warmth of Filipino temperament in the designs…Congrats to the designers. I feel so proud of all of you.

  40. Best gowns are Canada, Ecuador, Malta, and Kenya. Japan’s gown is underwhelming what happened??? Philippines, is ok but the color does not compliment her skin tone. But good job for the Filipino designers!!!!

    • You’ll get lots of dislikes from blinded Cat’s fans who can’t seem to accept that not everyone is a fan of Mak Tumang’s gown. I’m worried too with Nia Sanchez and Siera Bearchell who also didn’t like the gown. The fans have been attacking their YouTube vids. Tsk tsk.

      • @Ryan: I thought it wasn’t nice at first until I saw the HD. Ang ganda ng kinang ng gown! Is it my fave? Definitely not, but it stood out in a sea of whites and silver.

      • Ryan it’s all good!!!! I’m just stating the fact right….all designers did a great job representing their country and their individuality….but Cat’s gown in particular isn’t my first choice and also Japan’s gown wasn’t my favorite as well.

The only thing that made Cat stood out was the way she carried it, and this color was one of the least used.

No offense kay Mak Tumang.

      • I just watched the Prelim and the gown was actually good and it glittered perfectly!!!! Cat also wore it magnificently and the dress did not wear her!!! But it looks lucklaster in a pictures…..that’s all.

  41. If i were to choose the best gowns, i would have it:
    1. Belize
    2. Philippines
    3. Ecuador
    4. Canada
    5. Guam

  42. I believe this is a clear manifestation of the backward linkage created by the MU staging in the Philippines a few years back. It periscoped the talented Filipino designers. The other Philippine industry spawned by the global beauty pageant business is the beauty camp training service for aspiring beauty queens. Now, who says beauty pageants are irrelevant and non-value-adding economic endeavor?

        #OFW
        #proudPinay

  43. Japans catwalk during the EG reminded me of Charlene Gonzales during her BBP coronation night. 🙂
