  1. hmmm. maging honest naman tayo mga beks. maski naman di siya na disqualify sa BWAP.. di pa rin siya mananalo. everything was Pilit. everything was rushed. MWPOrg needs to have the national pageant at an earlier date. ano bang problema nila at hindi nila yun magawa? look at Cat. she was just unprepared.

Yung sa Top Model challenge pa lang. it was Kat’s forte! Ligwak ganern naman siya. her styling.. same same lang. mas malakas siya nung nanalo siya as MWP. but after that, hindi niya na sustain lalo na nung dumating siya sa sanya. Patagal ng patagal feeling ko hindi tlaga siya mananalo. it was just not for her.

The BWAP disqualification? NAKAKAHIYA ANG MWP Org!!!! nakakaloka kayo. Kat was disqualfied because ayaw ni chef na may politics na kasama. pero nakakahiya pa rin sila to not know the whole guidelines. what to do and whats not to do.

yan ang sinasabi ko e. kung Solely crowning a MWP winner, naka focus kayo lahat. nakakapag prepare kayo. natutututkan niyo. hindi ung kuha agad ng sandamakmak na franchise. di nio pa kaya, let’s be honest. sana for the first 5 years MWP muna then slowly add some minor crowns.

With A&Q i wonder bakit nga ba hindi sila pumunta to support Kat? busy si Mama J to support his alagang Jeff Langan. isa pa tong a&q. naging complacent na din ata. naging hati din ang attention with the foreign beauty queens na tinitrain. no wonder Kat wanted to be “independent” or wanted to create her own team. kasi nga divided kayo.

and seriously, another libiran gown? na prang kapatid ng gown ni Kat na pinush nio sakanya to wear while on the other hand, the mak tumang one fits her perfectly?

We could have had our 2nd MW Crown if only.. IF ONLY we prepared our representative enough.

  2. Jusko di na nga nanalo si nepal hindi pa nya nakuha ang continental queen for asia and oceania…walang nagawa ang 2 fast Track na ipinanalo nya. Wala tlagang saysay ang mga Fast Tracks kc in the end yung bet ni Hulya kahit walang ipinanalong Fast Track at nag under perform sa mga activities ang mananalo…wala na talga akong interes sa pageant nato…malinaw na lutuan tlga

  3. In a way , This weekend is sort of a blessing in disguise . Could you imagine if we won or did well in both pageants ? I’m glad people have calmed down hoping and praying for a great end to the pageant season .

  4. She is from A&Q? Bakit parang walang mga tv interview sila about Kata, ang yung leader ng A&Q hindi nagpunta ng China to support her? Before always visible sila para to support.

  5. i wish hindi lumabas or maramdaman ng judges ang tunay na Catriona (the Catriona in MW16) tulad ng nangyari kay Katarina

between the 2 i think Catriona is a better actress

but still i think it will be a Latina who will be crowned MU18

but big thanks to Cat for giving them a good fight

  6. Miss World Philippines should go on a retreat and strategize for next year. It was a very poor performance for the last two years. Aces and Queen should reflect too, it’s seems they are loosing their touch. Probably they have differ priorities now. But not knowing the guideline too about the BWAP is unacceptable. Bessie should be fired for that or at least held accountable for that.
At the end of the day, MW is very unpredictable, I really thought Nepal is already shoo in. It an A plus for all the effort. But then again, what the heck. I don’t like this pageant from the beginning. Surprisingly, supranational was more fun to watch. Oh well bye Mess World, I don’t care anymore ever.

    • What a messy pageant it was and as always is. It lived up to its name Mess World. Cooking show at that.

    • Actually Miss World is somewhat predictable in that the winner almost always wears a light pink color during her crowning. Also, the organization will never crown a Southeast Asian morena or Southeast Asian tsinita-type. But a Southeast Asian beauty can come close to the crown if they are fluent in English. We have been sending mestizas to this pageant, so there is a legitimate concern that we are enforcing beauty standards that discriminate against tan-colored beauties. But this pageant has never crowned a Southeast Asian morena or even Southeast Asian tsinita-type (like Nicolene). So I guess mestiza beauty is what is favored & if we want to win, we have to conform to the (discriminatory) standards of the organization. Or host the damn pageant.

    • In fairness, Miss World is so lame. I wouldn’t mind if we skipped for three years! Sour grapes a little but the whole format is so lame. So much going on yet so boring at the same time. I think the last time I watched was in 2014 when they aired it at 10am here in California. In 2015 they aired it at like 5am while everyone was in Vegas for Universe, no way was I watching that LOL. Even Jonas and crew were probably all getting home from Piranha still like all of the fans from out of town hahahaha.

Never shown again in the US and every time I try to watch online I just fast forward to the crowning.

Even Venezuela has had its roadbumps with this one. Towards the end, even Osmel Sousa was just selling the Miss World Venezuela title to the girl who could pay the most to play.

  7. Well, its always a combination of a deserved lady as per the organization criteria, and the business proposition she brings. The former is subjective and the latter is complicated thus appear ‘cooking show’ from an outsider. The MW-filipino animosity started probably in 1973 with Evangeline Pascual and again in 1993 with Ruffa Gutierrez. The Megan win in 2013 while well-deserved but I suspect that for Aling Hulya it was partly about the business of hosting. We all know the hosting attempt was unsuccessful. Catriona in 2016 to me was more of a nail in the coffin for the fans. We though Cat (also Evangeline and Ruffa) deserved it but Julia had objectives for her organization or simply they were not the judges taste. In fairness, the gesture by MWO in MWP2017 finals was sort of a peace offering and the MrWorld hosting next year will still put us in Julia’s consciousness. Now all things considered MW and MWP will be just fine (like MU/Bbp 2000-2009 circa) but the fact that MU is bigger in the Philippines will always play a factor. The business dictates winners/politics and thats reality.

However, on Katarina, the results were just right. Katarina is just unprepared stemming perhaps from overconfidence. When you are unprepared and suddenly you see your competition blazing you’ll be flat footed. Imagine failing in her seemingly stronghold segments like Top Model, H2H, Multi Media and the biggest flop of all – to be disqualified in BWAP (MW core) is a reflection of whatever issue surrounding her. Wala ka talagang maaasahan. LIGWAĶ ka talaga.

P.S. I wonder though why many major sites final prediction still put Katarina in the Top 10/12? Was that a wishful thinking or trying to milk the filipino fans for site clicks? Again business?

    • Misso had her on Top 15 and GB had her on Top 30. Not that it matters. Nepal had it in the bag winning 2 fast tracks but then again, if you Julia doesnt like you to win then your hard work doesnt matter. Thailand even placed higher than her.

    • or could it be that Thailand could have won if not the Miss Universe hosting this year????? hahahahhaa

  8. Congratulations to the organizers of Miss / Mister World Philippines! Keep up the good work.

Miss World Philippines 2018 – unplaced
Mister Supranational Philippines 2018 – Top 20 finalist
Mister World Philippines 2018 —- Crystal ball says no comment

  9. It was strategic not to include Nepal in top 5 and instead chose Ms. Thailand to replace her. They have learned their lesson very well because they don’t want the same thing to happen again in 2016! Among the top 5, Ms. Mexico stands out facially and did well in the interview. She is the right choice for the crown without Nepal. I felt sorry for the entire country of Nepal! Another big injustice courtesy of the master chef! She knows very well that she will gain nothing to crown Ms. Nepal, so why go for it! The master chef could never deceive the world. It was just too obvious who should be the winner. The world will never forget this!

A&Q, Mareng Bessie at ateng arnold, huwag puro titi ang priority OK hihihi🙄cherette

  11. When your BWAP video which is the very core of Miss World gets disqualified, do you expect to advance in the competition? I dont think so! Bessie Besana is at fault in not knowing the guidelines in the first place.

  12. I honestly don’t feel upset or disappointed over Kat’s unplacement in MW2018 because aside from the fact that she didn’t really do that well in the competition I have no more respect for MW. I’m not a fan of their selection process. I find it dubious and messy.

    #notomessworld

  13. Not to take anything away from Mexico’s win (she is strong enough and for those who have been to Mexico, Mexicans are amazing people – so many similarities to Pinoys culturally but so much more happy go lucky, artistic, and passionate… and they love Filipinos back) but this was a smart business move on Chef Julia’s part.

Morley needs to stabilize the Miss Mundo Mexico franchise there. Vanessa won the right to compete back in 2016 after a new franchiseholder (involved in Ximena Navarette’s pageant career) took over for Lupita Jones after she lost the franchise (coincidentally the year she blew off Miss Universe because of Trump’s statements and went to Miss World instead). So in 2016, their reps for 2016, 2017, and 2018 were crowned.

Eh nangyari ay pinatay naman yung National Director ng drug cartel shortly thereafter after crowning a provincial level queen in prime cartel country. Narcos talaga.

As far as I know, the status of the Mexican franchise is undecided.

Galing talaga naman ni Chef Julia. We thought we might be having French or Nepalese for dinner, eh ni luto naman ay Mexican pala!

Buti nalang I love Mexican food LOL. I think I want some chips and salsa now.

    • Informative and thoughtful post!
Living in So.Cal you grow up and live side by side with Mexicans/Mexican Americans.
      Appreciated!

      • I stand corrected, you’re right pala!

Anyway, 1st runner last year. Winner this year. Mama Julia seems to have moved on after her wonderful six year fling with Tita Cory.

She has found amor anew in Mexico.

  14. It’s time for us to eat a humble pie.
    MU will be the same.
The truth is, we have become so conceited and have spread it all over social media to the point of maligning every single orgnanization when our candidate loses. We demand respect but we refuse to give.

I like Catriona, pero it’s very easy for her to lose the crown because she is at the top. Her popularity mught also work against her.

    • In fairness, may point ka.

Honestly Cat is the only one who I have been so sure of since Pia. Some of our other recent reps – not so much.

I agree we may be heading to the dark ages after Cat, so that is part of why I am so behind her journey.

Hangan International like ang KF – I don’t think MU or MW is within their reach yet.

A&Q seems more focused on the Mister Totoys of the Universe pageant or socialite daughters who want to play beauty queens of late.

Maybe Harley or the Peoples Queen folks will scour the camps’ rejects. Who knows.

But pa si Cat, independent talaga.

What comes up, must come down. Circle of life talaga!

      • I always appreciate your input as far as insightful analysis is concern, @justgrci. But I beg to disagree that we seems to be heading towards the Dark Ages after Cat. Pageantry is considered serious business here in the Philippines, reason why we are excelling very well in the international pageant scene. And I believe there is no shortage of beautiful women in our country, of whom can be molded into world class beauty queens like Megan, Pia & Kylie. Cat is just a preview of things to come. I can sense these girls are the wave of the future of Philippine pageant scene – Daisha Jimenez, The Aberasturi Sisters, Cynthia Tomalla, Julia Gonowon, Gazini Ganados, Samantha Lo, Michelle Dee, Klea Pineda, etc. Catriona will inspire these girls to emulate her path, to be independent candidates. Aces & Queens are losing their Midas touch in MW. KF is limited to Miss Earth & Miss International. I believe it’s time to think out of the box, take risks & stop following formulas.

      • @dandy – fair enough.

Just like the stock market, no commodity can stay at the top or grow without limits. Mountains peak. Waves crest. There are valleys, there are troughs.

Philippines has had a good streak. My gosh – 8 years since Venusha!!! Miss Universe, Miss World, 2 Miss Internationals, Miss Supranational, Miss Globe, 18 Miss Earths, ReinaHispanoChubaChuba, Miss Ecolandia, Miss ScubaExcursion, etc. etc. etc.

I think we are up for some own time. I would love to be proven wrong, but our recent reps have shown more of trying to fit the same mold rather than stepping out of the box like you point out. Our most successful rep to date this year – Ahtisa – was basically Kylie 2.0.

Cat is the exception. But Cat is not like the majority of beauty aspirants in the Philippines. She is rare find.

After her, things are going to get worse before they get better. We are getting beaten at our own game! Just like the Latinas, just like India in 90s, Y2K.

Philippines will always be in the mix, but I think it will be hard to surpass our golden years for the foreseeable future.

I’m just glad to have witnessed it as we all have.

      • I agree, I think our streak is coming to an end. You just have to look at Philippine history to see that we are never able to sustain our advantages (case in point, our economy over the past few years was one of the rising stars in Asia … & now we’ve been slowing down due to the policies of the current administration). Up & then down & down & down tayo parati. In our history, for every up, there are 10 downs.

I’m just grateful to have witnessed our Golden era in pageantry. It was magical while it lasted.

    • Jeremi, Kata’s fate in MW2018 is fine. We saw it coming. Some Filipinos do need to eat humble pie but not all. The sentiments against chef Julia wasnt based solely on Cat’s unjust placement in 2016. MW has become notorious now for their questionable criteria for choosing the first cut qualifiers and at times the eventual winner. They have fast track events whose results don’t seem to matter at least for the individual event runners up. And Cat’s losing to that Puerto Rican and that Indonesian was simply unwarranted. Something that only chefs can cook.

So whatever happened to Ms World 2018 doesnt matter to me. Neither will its next editions. In fact i think we shoud stop sending a candidate to MW. Let’s focus on pageants that matter more and are fair, wherein even if we lose, we can accept the results wholeheartedly.

      So i still say #notomessworld

      • Every pageant body has its own criteria of winning. It’s their rules that we as mere spectators are not privy of. The selection process is non of our business and based on their past winners including Megan, there is a certain criteria that Julia Morley is looking for. This is very evident in terms of facial beauty and overall demeanor. I guess it’s effortless beauty, elegance in strength, natural and sincere queenly demeanor. If the selection process is indeed done even before the coronation night, I am very sure that the past winners have good charateristics that made them won definitely not a random pick. The girls are in the competition since day 1 and they are judged in every move they make. I guess 30 days is enough to pick the right winner.

      • Well, its always a combination of a deserved lady as per the organization criteria, and the business proposition she brings. • Good food for thought, Jeremy.

However, I’ll keep looking at the glass “half-full” oppose to “half-empty.”

Even powerhouse Venezuela has had a couple of MW and MU reps that failed tonplace.

    • Jeremimi.

You go eat your pie and cry backstage. Wag ka na mandamay.
We know you love Kata in as much as you hate Catriona.

As long as Catriona is still there fighting for our flag, I will believe her.

      Baklang two.

      • Sorry Johnny,
My name is Jeremi, not jeremimi
Jeremimi is the nut who stole my old profile pic and made it his own.

  15. First of all, the winner is stunning (more so in videos than in her stock photos). Those big bright eyes just light up when she speaks. I thought she was too thin when she won in her national pageant but she gained a bit in the right places. I didn’t know this is actually Mexico’s first ever win in MW (so she finally made history for her country). Also at 26, she’s now the oldest winner of MW in history. So the myth about MW not crowning older girls has been shattered.

I concur that Miss Nepal (she’s such a sweetheart with a huge fanbase, me included) should have been placed higher than Thailand but after reviewing their responses in Top 12, I got it as Thailand was a lot more calm, articulate and spontaneous. It’s curious they only announced one runner up this year who happens to be Thailand.

Another big upset was fan fave Miss France – a pre-arrival top contender. Although red-haired France is obviously gorgeous and spoke well in Top 12, Belarus has that naturally bubbly personality. France’s projection in the finals reminds me a bit of Iris and who knows if she could have fared better in MU.

I thought China would do well (tall and modelesque) but I guess she wasn’t this year’s cup of tea. She now holds the record of being the lowest ranked Miss China in MW editions held in China.

As for Miss Philippines, beautiful as she is facially and I’m sure we’re rooting for her, I saw it coming so I wasn’t stunned in her non-inclusion. We really need to send girls with attributes suited for the pageants they’re supposed to compete. But it’s not the end for us, we always rise above the odds “cyclically.” At this time, we can now give our undivided attention to MU (sending our good vibes) and hope that for next year and the years to come, our delegates in MW can recoup this year’s setback.

    • Thorough analysis. All the MUP powers that be can do is learn from this setback.
It really is not the end of the world…pun intended.

    • Thanks @Jeremi and @just saying. We need to rise above the “noise” and take a closer look at what happened so we can learn from the experience whether good or bad (sometimes no matter how painful). I really hope someday soon we will not just be a pageant powerhouse country but a real mature discerning fanbase. Cheers!

  16. kung napaghandaan ni Katarina ang strategy niya
kasi from ANTM and MI na fierce
to nene nene sa MWPhil na pasweet
ang hirap nun ha – hirap maintain ang true self talaga
    lalabas.

she will be a very good actress for sure

    • This is so true. Maybe if Katja had more time to work on her new personna, she could have perfected it. I know she had it in her, but like I said from Day, she has always looked so out of breath as MWP. It was in her eyes that she was out of her element immediately in Sanya. It was too much.

(Look at Cat – even she needed to take some time to touch up her personna – but even she has remained true to her sweet, tahimik, artistic/intellectual/soulful – personality).

I’ve loved Katja since BbP and think she totally deserved more than Miss Intercon (which she appeared to have loved – so all’s well that ends well). However, it is clear from her social media (yes I don’t know her personally, so what I do really know) that she is a free soul.

Katja needed both discipline and desire to do what it takes as MUP or MWP. Those titles have to go to ladies with HUNGER. Not just because the Philippines deserves it, but also because the ladies they are going to go head to head with (pun intended) are so freaking hungry themselves.

For me, Katja would have made an amazing Miss Supranational/Grand International delegate – so in her year, she may have given Korea a run for her money.

I am disappointed in Katja’s showing, but I love the girl. We need more Pinay delegates who are strong and wild like her, but maybe with some more refinement and focus. She’s a go getter and she goes places – she’ll do well in life.

(I wish someone will tell her to stay off social media for a while and keep her disappointment away from it – otherwise she will look like sour grapes, which she already has to some degree this week).

      • She’s a millenial. If she didn’t post her feels on social media, did she even have the feels?

  17. pabagsak na kasi ang MWPhil
wala na candidate na mala Megan Young

    anyway
    MI Venezuela
    MS Puerto Rico
    MW Mexico
    MGI Paraguay
    ME Vietnam
MUkhang ang MU eh South America
Catriona will give them a good fight !!

Daming magaganda diyan!

In both ways, last year nga top5 si Laura sa BWAP pero waley pa Rin! And this year, it’s Nepal!

Seryoso.

I’m thinking tuloy na if next time, ang preparation time is katulad din ng this year, gumawa nalang sila ng “Miss World Philippines” template for BWAP, sila nalang ang magplan off-season.

  19. Catriona, hopefully, will make up for it next week.

    Big 4 Report Card
    Earth – Top 8
    International – 1st runner up
    World – unplaced
    Universe –

    • With Cat’s inclusion in top 5 or even in top 10 during the upcoming Miss Universe 2018, this is already a good report card for Philippines! How much more if we will win the crown! Let us be kind to share the glory to other countries. I love to watch beauty pageants but not cooking show!

  20. Kat was never a great candidate . She never had a deeper purpose for joining pageants, just felt like it was always just about her . She is no CAt who has substance behind the beauty.

  21. I maybe totally wrong about these but I really smell politics, prostitution and money with this pageant. All the fast-track events and preliminary competitions are all for the show. Whatever country license paid and sponsored the most, their representative places or wins (Indonesia, China). Whoever girl wines and dines with the sponsors/judges, she places or wins (You already know these countries!). Whatever country is a British colony, that country places or wins (India). If none of the competing girls are within these criteria, then MW picks the real best and deserving (Philippines). Hence, the most hardworking girls in the competition really need LUCK! Just saying.

    • Google all the former and current colonies of UK and don’t be surprised to see a ton of MW winners from these countries.

      • Hmmm…Because almost 90% of the countries around the world was at some point, invaded by the British empire dahlin.

  22. I believe that this is the first time since 2010 that the Philippines finished unplaced.
    This is disheartening. Sad.

Hay naku, Mess World nga naman,

Klea Pineda, Daisha Jimenez, Steffi Aberasturri fits the mold, I think. Though I would love to see Steffi in MI stage.

    • True! Gusto ni Julia malaki mata, high cheekbones and or paliit ang mukha. Steffi’s eyes tend to go slanted just like Pia’s and Catriona’s. All Filipinos have some Chinese blood in them kaya iilan ang mga wide-eyed na Pinay. Mga Latina ay walang history of mixing with Chinese heritage kaya palakihan ang mga mata nila at hindi pear-shaped katawan nila. Wide hips but flat butt is also from a certain group of Chinese we mixed with. The Cantonese or Southern Chinese I think.

  25. Sincere congratulations to Mexico.

Again, MW continues to baffle the mind in their selection process.
The Asian countries were represented in abundance. Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, India and Bangladesh all advanced into the top 30.

I’m sad for Katarina and the Philippine sash.
    💙💙💙

  26. Nepal got screwed here big time. Mexico’s victory is well deserved, although I can’t shake this feeling that this is due to last year’s backlash when MW Mexico 2017 finished 1st Princess to Manushi, enraging the Mexican fans in the process. But safe to say, no love lost for Pinoy pageant fans as far as Miss World is concerned. I smell apathy in the air, I hear crickets in the background LOL. All eyes are on Bangkok right now, watching Cat strut her stuff in the SuperBowl of beauty, Miss Universe 2018.

Baka nmn pati ang escandalosong ME patulan pa nya. Puhlease.

  28. Whoops I stand corected Katrina is not top 30 finisher, waley pala hihihihi.

Even though I really don’t like this girl and her paepal ang papansin attitude, I didn’t think she’d clap. The organization probably did not like her at all.

  29. Congrats Mexico.
They waited 9 long years since Miss World robbed the goddess Perla Beltran of the title.

    OT.

Oo, pinagbigyan tayo last year kasi karamihan dun first time sumali.

  30. Weird Stage Set Up! Parang deal or no deal or Hollywood Squares. Last year was a decent show, this year’s format is a miss.
