Miss Universe Philippines is in El Nido, Palawan at the moment to do a feature shoot in Lagen Island Resort for Inquirer Lifestyle. In between takes, she went swimming and snorkeling and got crazy sunburnt as well. She is definitely enjoying the workcation mode.
Watch out for the final edits soon! In the meantime, let’s watch a video of our Queen – where she got to show off some of her singing skills – for Preview Magazine
By now, the call for entries is intensive. It’s the 50th edition of Mutya ng Pilipinas and the organizers – headed by its President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo – are reaching out nationwide and to the Filipino Communities abroad to assemble its biggest number of Official Candidates ever – fifty (50). And so far, the list is growing by the day. I have seen some of the early contenders. All I can say is that this is definitely going to be the best batch ever in its long years of existence.
Make history and join the 50th Mutya Ng Piipinas -Bigger, Better, Bolder as we crown the next Queen on September 16, 2018.

Sarah Rose Summers of Nebraska wins Miss USA 2018. A Registered Nurse, she impressed the judges with her beauty and smarts, especially during the Q&A portion. She succeeds Kara McCullough who was the host delegate during Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas.
Sarah will now take part in Miss Universe 2018 later this year, along with our very own Catriona Gray.
How sizzling do you want the beautiful Sandra Lemonon to get? Take your pick in the photos here.
She will definitely be back – stronger and fiercer come 2019!
For now, we will see each other this Friday for the Miss Kaogma 2018 Finals in CamSur.

Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla has stayed for so long in Cebu that many non-Visayan pageant followers must have concluded that she is a Cebuana. Well, she actually takes roots in Macrohon, Southern Leyte where her Filipina mother and German father have taken residence ever since moving from Germany when she was just a kid.
Last week, Cynthia made her happy homecoming in Southern Leyte where she was warmly welcomed by officials and given a grand motorcade around Macrohon. Here are more pictures from the said event, as provided by our Queen herself.
In another part of the globe – Tirana, Albania in particular – Kacey Coleen Lim of the Philippines just became the first Filipina to be crowned Miss Summer World.
She was trained for the competition by the London-based pageant group of Romulo Palma who is responsible for sending us Christa Borja during Bb. Pilipinas 2017.
Here are the winners of Miss Earth Philippines 2018:
Miss Earth Philippines 2018
Silvia Celeste Cortesi of Fil-Rome, Italy
Miss Earth Philippines Air 2018:
Zahra Bianca Saldua of Las Piñas City
Miss Earth Philippines Water 2018:
Berjayneth Chee of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental
Miss Earth Philippines Fire 2018:
Jean de Jesus of San Rafael, Bulacan
Miss Earth Philippines Ecotourism 2018:
Halimatu Yushawu of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay
For the first time in its eighteen-year history, Miss Earth Philippines crowned a representative from one of the Filipino Communities abroad. And Silvia Celeste Cortesi of Rome, Italy is the successor of Karen Ibasco. She edged out heavy favorite Zahra Bianca Saldua of Las Piñas City who had the upper hand going into the announcement of winners. The latter settled for Miss Earth Philippines Air. The audience at the Arena were in for quite a surprise because if the basis was the final Q&A, then the ranking of winners would have it differently. But according to an inside source, a Goddess-like candidate is likely to be favored this year. Hence, the selection of the statuesque Fil-Italian model as our representative to Miss Earth 2018.
The other placements in the elemental court had Berjayneth Chee of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental for Water, Jean Nicole de Jesus of San Rafael, Bulacan for Fire and Halimatu Yushawu of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay for Ecoutourism.
More about the new set of winners of Miss Earth Philippines 2018 soon!
During the recently-concluded Preliminaries of Miss USA 2018, pageant followers were glued on the fifty-one (51) candidates who will vie for the crown and be the US representative to Miss Universe 2018. After the event, two questions prevailed over the succeeding analysis of individual presentations:
1) Will Bryce Armstrong do a three-peat for District of Columbia and follow in the trails of her two predecessors Deshauna Barber and Kara McCullough?
2) Will Genesis Davila of Florida do a Catriona Gray of sorts and be able to pull a win to get the opportunity to participate in both Miss World and Miss Universe? (She was the Puerto Rican rep during Miss World 2014 in London)
Of course, these two are the top favorites to take it all the way. But surprises could also be coming from the remaining 49. Here now is my tally of fifteen (15) picks who – in my opinion – performed very well during the Prelims:
Alabama – Nicole Smith
Arkansas – Lauren Weaver
California – Kelley Johnson
District of Columbia – Bryce Armstrong
Florida – Genesis Davila
Georgia – Marianny Egurrola
Maryland – Brittinay Nicolette
Minnesota – Kalie Wright
Nevada – Carolina Urrea
New Jersey – Alexa Noone
Oklahoma – Cheyene Darling
South Dakota – Madison Nipe
Tennessee – Alexandra Harper
Texas – Logan Lester
Washington – Abigail Hill

Miss Earth Philippines 2017 and Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco
Hers was a reign that had rough patches here and there. And boy, were the potshots so cruel that anyone of a lesser heart and determination would succumb to the bashings that progressed from the nationals all the way to the international pageant stage.
As the reigning Miss Earth Philippines, Karen Ibasco was not spared the iron rod by critics who had a heyday putting her down for not having the traditional look and beauty we always associate with a winner, let alone a titleholder who would represent the country in the bigger Miss Earth. But when her innate smarts, academic credentials and articulate self start reeling in, then everyone would just sit up and take notice of how she would gloriously defeat all opponents coming her way. After all, being a Physicist gave her way more than textbook knowledge about science and stuff. What’s more, being able to translate her thoughts into words that would make the complicated seem reasonably understandable is a gift that not everyone can lay bragging rights on. Do watch two video clips (courtesy of Rappler) of how she was able to pull a well-deserved victory during Miss Earth Philippines 2017.
Since tonight is when Karen will relinquish her Miss Earth Philippines crown, I will stop at this point because her reign as Miss Earth won’t end until the 4th quarter of this Year.
Let me just say how proud I am of this woman who continuously held her head high amidst the varying degrees of stormy weather she had to live through. She remained cool, calm and collected. Gracious in all her moves and every inch a Queen so down-to-Mother Earth (pun intended).

Mister Supranational has a new Philippine Franchise Holder, and he is none other than Arnold Vegafria of Miss World Philippines Organization.
This addition effectively ups the titles at stake for Mr World Philippines to three, including Mister World and Mr Eco International. Including the two runners-up, the new male national pageant will have a magic circle of five (5) winners.
