I will give the floor now to your Binibini 9 Agatha Romero from Quezon City with an introduction to her basics plus a peek inside her thoughts about being an Official Candidaten of Bb. Pilipinas 2018:
“Hi Tito Norman! Here is a little background about myself. I am Agatha Lei M. Romero, 23 years old from Fairview, Quezon City. I am a Licensed Civil Engineer and a product of University of Santo Tomas. I come from a family of Civil Enginners wherein my father works in government specialized projects in water works while my brother and I have our own construction firm wherein we design and build, not just appearance but experience.
Just a little trivia, I was a former chess varsity player and scholar from elementary (Diliman Preparatory School) to high school (USTHS).”
“I am in the point in my life where I have decided to come out of my shell to show everyone what I am capable of. Many were surprised by this big step I made as I was in a field wherein it is very rare for us to be part of. It is significant for me to win a crown not just for the fulfillment of my dream to represent our country in the international stage but moreso for my advocacy to give opportunities to the less fortunate by creating a self sustaining community which aims to educate the poor and provide them with the proper skills training for them to discover the best of their potentials until the time they can stand on their own.”
Tell me just a little more about the male-dominated profession you are in.
“It is true that the world of engineering is dominated by men, but I don’t think there has ever been an issue when it comes to gender in my own experience. We, women, do the same things that men do with no reservations and exceptions. Being in engineering has opened my eyes that these genders may be different but still equal. I have learned and realized that it is just us who create our own path and so our strengths and weaknesses.”
