I am starting with the last lady in the official numbering and will go random after her.
Angelie Aubrey Mariño Asuncion is a joyful Bicolana who is ecstatic about making it to the roster this year. Let us now turn the spotlight on your Binibini 40.
“Hello everyone, I am Angelie Aubrey Mariño Asuncio, 24, from Tabaco, Albay. I am a registered mechanical engineer, and have been able to pass the board in one take. I graduated from Bicol University with a Department of Science and Technology scholarship that fully funded my studies. I love singing bossanova and I usually use it as my piece every time I join pageants ever since i was 16.
My advocacy is women empowerment more thru career, opportunity and workplace equality.”
“I have three reasons why being a binibini and eventually being a queen is very significant to me.
First, my dream. Ever since I was young, I already fell inlove with pageantry. I even imagined myself being in a competition wearing a sash that has the “Philippines” imprinted on it. I consider it as my ultimate goal (aside of course from my other profession which is being a successful mechanical engineering practitioner).
Second, my reach. I’ve noticed that being a beauty queen gives me that privilege to be followed in social media and be heard by many. And I want to use it to inspire not only other girls but all of the people out there to continue doing what gives them fulfillment and to continue achieving their dreams inspite of hindrances along the way, be it their gender or status quo.
Third, I want to inspire every person not to choose between practicality (i.e, my engineering career) and passion (i.e, my dream crown). Anyone can have have both. You see, people have been seeing me living in two worlds, the world of strength and the world of beauty. Lookkng at the bigger picture, I am seeing myself only in one Universe, a beautiful diverse one.”
