Don’t expect her to make a grand entrance like how Catriona Gray breezed through the crowds waiting outside the BPCI Office at Araneta Coliseum. Instead, just wait for her to quietly storm the screenings of Bb. Pilipinas 2018 and stamp her class amongst the remaining aspirants (as of now, only eighty ladies are left standing) for the forty (40) Binibini slots this coming Monday, January 15.

Jonas Gaffud of Aces & Queens has confirmed that Aya Abesamis – daughter of Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1984 and Miss Universe 1984 3rd Runner-Up Desiree Verdadero – has finally landed. Her application has already been submitted prior, and the interview with the BPCI legal team has already been conducted. All that is left to do is show up at the Kia Theater for the no-holds barred final selection.

  2. Im worried na yung ugali nyo ang makakaapekto sa pagkalanalo ni Catriona Gray. Medyo below the belt at bastos na kayo. Im sure si Catriona hindi ganyan ang ugali. 🙂

  3. Hmmmm….Not sure about this girl. But “who you know” and NOT “what you know” may work for her. Kumbaga e, may “sash factor” knowing that her mom os a loyal SMA-binibini.

    I have to wait until the announcement of the official candidate if both Aya and Cat will make it. But I have a feeling someone else will snatch the MUP crown from these two. I am just hoping that it will be a good surprise.

    Tigilan na muna ang pag-hype sa mga candidates. Tapos kapag hindi nakapasok as official candidates e galit na galit sa BPCI. And if makapasok man and will get a lower placement ganun din.

  6. Oh my goodness how stupid ang mga baklang pangit. Di pa nga nakikita mga ibang candidates eh nag aaway away between Gray and Abesamis daw. Mamaya pareho palang ligwak ang dalawa hahahahha. Naku I can just imagine kung anong reaction ng mga ito kung matalo si Catriona baka pati ang palaka sa likod ng bahay ni Bong700 at Fabian ay sisishin ang sisigawan.
    Sa totoo lang neither Aya nor Catriona will win MUP. Lalo na itong si Catriona na feeling entitled na pananalunan nya ito. Baka iiyak na naman sya. There will be another Rache Peters and another Charmaine Elima.

    • Tita common sense dahlin…she is a former MU contender which is the first time in history for Philippine pageantry na ang former MWP eh sasabak sa BB kaya feeling nya makukuha nya ang MUP lakas ng loob kaya mag iiyak na naman yan pag matalo which Im sure gonna happen. Top 15 for her or MGI, pag nagkataon sampal sa kanya yun ng malakas. Sino kaya nag udyol sa kanya na sumali. Who is feeding her the wrong praises?

      • @Jeremi – I respectfully disagree. I actually admire Catriona for being brave enough to enter another beauty pageant after her MW stint. As you have stated, Catriona is a high profile candidate and she must be keenly aware of the risks and potential consequences if she loses. It takes a lot of confidence and a lot of guts to do what she’s doing. She has prepared herself to claim the title. That is the attitude one needs to win, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

  7. Catriona pa rin. Ang pinaka-importante kasi talaga ay “beauty of face.” Between Cat Gray and Aya Abesamis, super obvious naman na “facially-prettier” nang milya-milya si Cat than Aya.

  8. i think Aya Abesamis is lagged way behind schedule in terms of preparation compared to other frontrunners like Cat. But no mistake, i see that she is also a worthy MU rep. Nakikita ko na marami pa siyamg i improve in terms of stance kasi medyo kita mo sa mga candids nya. kailangan nya magfocus sa strengthening ng beauty queen muscles nya kasi medyo nakikita ko pa ang ‘model slouch’. Also I really didnt like eye brow make up with her orange dress kasi its TOO ARCHy and soo thick! it made her face looked rounder. They should flatten it out a bit like korean eyebrows kasi napaka amo ng mukha nya. Actually her beauty grows on you . i would like to see more of her metamorphosis in the coming prepageant activities. i can see that her presence will grow stronger in the coming days. if ma imbibe nya lahat ng trainings ang physical make over nya given the limited period prior to the night of the national olympics , it will be a battle royale between her and catriona.

    • Tugongong had the best answer sa MU2012 but still didn’t win. Why? She lacks facial beauty. At the end of the day beauty pageant parin eto. See MU2016 for example. Why settle for someon na less when there are far greater girls out there waiting to be noticed?

    • Wala naman talagang issue sa dalawa. Kayo lang gumagawa niyan para i-cover up ang mga dislikes na narereceive ng “chosen one” ng aces. If you read this thread from top to bottom, makikita mo na nagbibigay lang ng honest opinion ang mga pageant fans. Actually pati sa IG and facebook eh same lang ng feel sa Aya na yan. Sure may mga nagsasabi ng di maganda pero that’s the truth lang. What is beautiful to you might be unpleasant to the majority, and the majority will always be heard. Beauty Pageant eto where girls are being judged from head to toe, inside and out. Hindi ito Miss Charity O Miss let’s be nice-nice. People can sometimes get harsh with their words pero that is part of what these girls signed up for. It’s up to them kung pano nila i-handle yan. There is no place for onion-skinned girls sa industry na to.

    • Hindi naman. Sinimulan lang yang issue na yan with Cat nung mga naghhype dito sa girl na to. Yung topic talaga sakaniya is yung overhyping na ginagawa, dinadivert lang ng iba dito kay Cat para mapagtakpan yung main topic. Threatened? Girl please. Lol. 😂

    • Ayan na naman yang “kayo kaya sumali” ekek. I’m sure wala naman sila desire sumali, fan sila at every fan will voice out yang gusto nila sabihin. Kasali na po yang negative comments sa lahat ng sumasali sa beauty contest. Nagsasabi lang ng truth yung most dito. Yes, may mga laits pero di mo na problema yon. Nasa tao na yan kung pano niya i-receive ang mga comments, good or bad. I am not a huge fan of the two, pero I am wise enough to know ang difference nang chaka at maganda. Most lang naman ng hinaing dito is yung overhyping at fishy na galawan ng Aces diyan kay Aya. Kung sana di inioverhype at hayaan nalang na she shines on her own, mas magiging open pa kame iconsider siya. But for now, we don’t see her worthy of any crown.

      I’m sure her handlers, trainers are aware of the comments here and gigil yang si girl na i-prove yung mga napapangitan sakaniya na wrong. Atat mag-gandagandahan yan. Well, good luck na lang and I wish her well. Haha 😚

  16. Fabie, I’m sorry you saw it that way. I believe that the screening committee and the board of judges are sharp-minded people who will have the same questions in their minds. Catriona should be able to answer them convincingly. I offered some ideas for her handlers to craft good and safe answers to the question. If that is being against Catriona, I don’t know what is not.

  17. I am not against Catriona fans blabbering an MUP-or-nothing campaign. It is their right to do so. However, from a nonpartisan sidelines I think both Catriona and her fans have to be able to give the screening committee and the board of judges a very convincing answer to the question: if she has won the top plum in a rival national contest, and the 5th top spot in its international edition, what is her motive in joining another contest?

    The answer can be very tricky. Immediately, it puts into focus an attempt to revalidate her worth outside herself, as if the MWP title, MW runner-up crown, media attention and cash prizes have insufficient value. I hope the screening committee and the board of judges will not see this as a manifestation of an over focus on winning. A winning mindset is not entirely bad as it generates intensity, determination and effort, and often can fill our lives with meaning. However, obsession with winning restrains people from engaging in a personal journey of self knowledge and finding one’s place in life as an entirely internal and personal process, not one that requires constant competition with others as a measure of self-worth. I’m sure most national winners can attest to this: the pleasure effect of winning does not last, unlike the satisfaction of having done the best you can.

    If the answer is to acquire the MU platform for her advocacy, we may have a problem here. MW has adopted her advocacy as one of the facets of its brand image, in fact been featured in the video clip flashed in the recent MW contest. Professional decorum may make MU think twice about embracing the same.

    My 2-cents worth of suggestion to Catriona as she faces the screening committee and the board of judges:

    • Impress everyone that your ultimate goal is never to prove something to others nor to vanquish an opponent, but to more fully realize your own potential.
    • Convince everyone that winners are people who consistently invest effort, persevere, and keep getting better at whatever it is they do — regardless of whether they win anything.
    • Convince everyone that real winners are people who take risks and are not afraid to lose — because they learn and grow from it.

    Proving to them that your satisfaction of success comes from doing one’s best through cooperation, as amplified by your advocacy, and not through competition, is a sign of emotional maturity and strong personal identity– the mark of a truly confidently beautiful person.

  18. Hmm Catriona Gray is reminiscent of Ruffa Gutierez in Bbp 1993… total package: beauty, height, articulate, popular pero nakuha ni Dindi Gallardo (kahit sumablay sa Q&A) ang MUP. Galawang SMA so I predict Catriona winning MIP or MGI then this Aya or Muriel toss up for MUP.

    Kung nagkataon mas masakit pa to kaysa MW2016 top 5 finish pero alam ni Cat ano pinasukan nya kaya laban lang ng laban malay natin she is destined to be our 4th MU.. pero sa ngayon medyo malabo pa.

On top of her stint at Miss Thomasian Personality 2010 and years of being our country’s premiere top model, I am sure she recieved the most extensive pagent trainning from her mother Desiree Verdadero (Miss Universe 1984 3rd Runner-up) and cousin, Mafae Yunon (Miss World 2003 Top 5). Her pageant/modeling skills and her exotic features that looks like a more fierce version of Maxine Medina and her mother Desiree… Best of all, I know she can speak her mind! She could give Cat some serious competition for the BBP title.

I understand why people hypes her that way because I was one of those people who followed her journey since MW. The advocacy is a plus.     • There’s a difference between “hyping” and sadiyang famous/maraming believers at deserving of praise lang. Hindi ako fan ni Cat pero di mo madedeny na talagang siya ang pinaka ready at full package sa lahat ng aspects out of all the girls na nafeauture dito sa past few weeks. “Hyping”, on the other hand, ay yung Yaya girl na to. Siya ang great example niyan na bigla-bigla lang sumulpot out of nowhere at tinatawag agad na “frontrunner” dahil sa fishy na galawan mga trainers at media na naghahype sakaniya. Yun ang hyping. Ngayon overhyping at full force na sila dahil Binibini season na. Also, your definition of “underdog” is medyo mali din. Hindi dahil maraming di may gusto sayo or maraming nagpopoint out ng reality, underdog na. Underdog is someone na you don’t expect na mameet ang expectations at di favored ng fans or trainers and media, tapos in the end, winner! Example niya is Ara na walang hype, walang criticisms, no expectations na mananalo. So yun yun, friend. 💙🙂

      • Also, wanna add lang! Cat has worked so hard. Time, effort, at genuine na heart ang binuhos niya sa past few years para marating yung status niya ngayon. So super deserving siya sa praise, love, at support na she is receiving now. I hope na people don’t confuse that sa unnecessarily wrong criticism sakaniya. I have a different bet sa MUP. Gusto ko yung Muriel from KF, pero as a pageant fan for so many years now. Hindi na ako die hard fan na pag gusto ko yung isa, chaka na yung isa. Now, kung maganda at deserving ng praise, wala naman masama mag admire, pero kung chaka at alam mong bayaran at ginogoyo ka ng trainers, camps, at media, as a fan at supporter, ivoice out ko ang nakokota kong mali. Wise fan lang. Choose who you make famous. ☺️

      • I agree mickey hehe no offense pero d ko talaga bet si AA. People labeling her as MU worthy is a big no. Pagtatawanan tayo ng kapit bahay for sure. I even find Maxine way more pleasant. She can place but not the major crowns. She seems packaged as a MU aspirant, but please wag.. Jusko Lord. I can sense a similar make-up pattern of Pia Wurtzbach for her face.

        For Cat naman, I think everyone should take note how hard she works and give her full efforts. Makikita mo eh. Not to mention, she watched MU coronation live not just once. She’s smart enough to do the initiative and observe how it is. D na ako nagtaka bakit ganun kabongga ung presentation or ayos nya during interviews palang. I can also see her as someone who’s really strong when it comes to handling pressure. Iba si Cat promise. I hope di nila sasayangin si Cat. She’s one of those gems that u won’t have to worry when she competes for the country.

      Patangkarin mo lang yung singer na si Dessa and you would mistake this “it” girl as Dessa. Lol.

      Personally I don’t like bashing these young ladies. I am sure there are other among the 80 who are also not that worthy. Problem is, AA was/is overhyped by the blogger and her handlers as if she would hold a candle to Catriona or Monika.

      Advise lang to all would-be candidates whose only claim to fame is their connections, please let us not believe our OWN press releases.

        Mas gusto ko ang pangit provided she is tall enough articulate ambitious determined hardworking at Hindi pikon ( attn Rachel!). Remember Janine from the very beginning ?
        Wow your dig at Norman is so brave . U have to understand Norman was in his twenties in the eighties . He adored (and still does ) Des to death so anything or anyone associated with her is golden .

    • Aya is 5’9″. She looks like the IT girl to me also. The X factor. My no. pick for MU is Cat.

      The pics & the video posted above don’t do her justice. She has much better pics I’ve seen. If she’s really hungry for the crown and trains really hard for her 1st major pageant, I could see her winning one of the crowns, maybe even a dark horse for the MU crown. One thing for sure, she’ll make Cat work harder for the MU crown.

Cat, for me is still the girl to beat, pero wag magpakakampante kay Aya, may ibubuga pa yan sa bandang huli. Do you think hahahayaan lang ni Miss.
