Alaiza Malinao: Are the signs clearer for Bb. Pilipinas 2018?

At 24, Alaiza Flor Malinao is ripe for a second attempt in the nationals. After her first Bb. Pilipinas foray last 2015, the gap of more than two years has seen her pursuing a place under the sun in the World of modeling. She has already given it her best shots. Do you think it’s time to get back to the pageant route and fulfill a previous dream to be crowned as a Queen?

In my opinion, Alaiza is ready for a return. After stints in Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 and Elite Model Asia-Pacific 2016 plus the experience of modeling in the US, the signs are egging her to make a Bb. Pilipinas comeback.

  1. now ko lang pinanood ang performance nya during bbp 2015. during her SS sa looks nya sa simulang focus ng cam. nakita ko sa kanya si Jehza Huelar and a little bit Kylie Verzosa. her performances both segment was good. medyo disappoint nga sa Q&A nya and parang medyo distracted. when she opened her mouth/while talking. dont know if its her teeth or ung lipstick. Pero may chance talaga mag ka crown ito if she will join again basta more polished na and well prepared. she could be the next Kylie V or Teresita Ssen.

  2. She’s happy with her modeling stint in LA. For me she is ripe for an agency In NYC.

  3. I like her. She has an exotic, beautiful symmetrical face and she’s tall (5’9”). Her interview skills are good and she seems to have a more mature sensibility now than when she competed back in 2015. What I don’t yet see in her is the hunger, the fire that we all saw in Venus, Pia or Janine. That is what she needs to bring to this competition in order to win.

      • Vina definitely has the face and body… but I still find her too provincial until now… not like Venus Raj who easily adapted to the cosmopolitan environment.

  8. I’ll go with Oprah here who says, When someone shows you who they are … believe them, the first time. So, based on that little wisdom nugget, I’m not sure if Alaiza has the determination, the persistence, & the fighting spirit to win Universe. She admitted she left AsNTM because it stopped being fun for her. I’m thinking she’s equating fun with easy. To be competitive in pageantry, especially the alpha pageants, is not always easy. So the question now is whether she can muster the willpower to put in the work to compete at her holistic best for the country—something which is not always fun/easy. I’m not seeing it right now (hello, she sleeps in until 1 pm). There’s no story of empowerment here, just a pretty face. And while a pretty face can be enough for some minor pageants, Universe demands so much more.

    • Yeah’ you are right just a pretty face, she doesn’t have a beauty queen aura/charisma…A BIG NO! next girl pls mamu norms…

    • i disagree i saw her video in her first try at BBP shes very promising …shes honest witty and doesnt fake her thoughts on things . shes not afraid to speak her mind. ANTM is not a serious modeling competition LOL it has alot of drama and most of the winners are not even deserving.

  9. There is no doubt that Alaiza is beautiful. I think she is in the honor roll to Pia for having learned well the art of smizing. However, I have an issue when it comes to her proportionate appearance. Is she big-faceted or she just doesn’t possess broad shoulders? With the modern technology at hand now, I believe her handlers can remedy that flaw. Do excellent contouring anytime soon before it becomes too late!

  16. Ganda niya! Di ko na maalala how she performed in the past so I was bit skeptical when I clicked on the video, but she speaks relatively well which is a relief. But I get what others mean when they think that her highest possible placement is one of the ‘lesser’ crowns. I thought she was much younger than 24 based on the video- she has that easy, privileged sort of vibe..nothing wrong with that, but it seems that Miss Universe feels that, that kind of girl is only good for a semis-spot.

    Think of Pia- who I believe is the template against which every girl that IMG picks thereafter is somehow compared with- and you have someone who has a much stronger view on everything. Pia wouldn’t just be ‘lounging’ around in LA, she’d be working and being the ‘bread-winner. Pia would be endorsing food and making cooking demos because it’s work, and really, it’s a myth to believe that every girl who gets crowned as MU has hit the jackpot- that jackpot has to be earned with Banco de Oro endorsements and being silly on noon-time shows and making loaded arroz caldo whatever the hell that is. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

    But at the moment, we don’t really know kung sasabak ulit itong sa Alaiza. It may be premature to put an assignment on her head when she hasn’t even decided. It might be a totally different Alaiza we would be seeing when she finally enters the Binibini screening, but one thing is certain- she has to be stronger, more determined and more passionate than this to get people talking that she’s meant for the MU assignment.

    But the experiences she’s had with ANTM and with modelling abroad will certainly be advantageous. Remember- Alaiza has been duly praised by Ines Ligron and the last time she sang these praises was when she took a shine to then Pia W…

  17. so sya ung resbaker from strongest bbp batch. base sa clue na nabasa ko about sa confirmed na sasali sa bbp this year. not a fan of her but base sa pics taas may laban. if she maintain her awra and looks like what ive seen in the video above then she will win one of the crown. feel ko globe makukuha nya. but sa Q&A we’ll see.

  22. I was one of her biggest critics during her first BP experience . She was a little rough then. Now I am a fan – MUP or MGI for me.
