  1. Arienne should compete again! I read her post on her facebook page – it was a long Thank You and shared her experiences type of post, and it was well-thought out and beautifully written and just full of humility and grace. BBP missed out this year because she really would have brought the well-rounded beauty that pageants like MU are looking for. Please Arienne compete again!

  2. Winter world and scorg are one and the same person ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ISANG BOBONG TSONGANG NAGMAMAGALING AT NAGKUKUNWARING MATALINO HA HA HA HA

TANGAPIN MO NA TEH, TALUNAN TALAGA SYA, SAKSAK NYA SA BAGA NYA CREDENTIALS NYA!

  3. I am truly in awe of this girl. Norman, I know you’re implying she’s not “cut out” for pageants, but I sincerely disagree.

Arienne, good luck on everything that is to come. I don’t know you personally, but have observed you at pageants and seen that you are active in your advocacies past the pageantry, and are working hard to make things happen. Things are not handed to you and that’s great – you truly show the importance of hard work and THAT does not need a crown. If you read this, know that you’re a positive influence.

    • Those that say Arriene is not “cut-out” for pageants are people who still cling to the Western beauty standard. So, a person who is patently Malay in features “is not beautiful” because she does not have long limbs, pointed nose, white complexion. It is sad that this standard is still the basis for selecting pageant winners. No wonder, most winners every year bear foreign-sounding names because they are partly Caucasian.

I also don’t know Arriene personally, and I only saw her on the Parade of Beauties when I happen to be in the Philippines for my Easter vacation. But seeing her in person and getting pleased with what I saw makes me wonder why she was not considered for the Top 5. I am sure, had she made it to the Top 5, she would have passed the Q & A portion with ease. MU missed the opportunity of pitting USA’s Nuclear Scientist against Philippines’ Harvard-bound education reform advocate.

  4. Whatever they say, Arienne’s credentials should have been a perfect foil to the Miss USA’s Nuclear Scientist in the MU derby. With the present branding direction of MU, as seen in the Miss USA contest putting more emphasis on interview (60%) than on gown and bathing suit presentation (40%), I believe the likes of Arriene would be a formidable candidate. I hope she never loses hope that pageantry is still an effective platform for her advocacies.

    • Agree with you, scorg. Miss USA and MU – since both are based in the States – Arienne would be an absolute hit there. Too bad the Philippines is still slightly behind on the fact that being able to speak/do interview well is becoming more and more important in the pageant world.

Whatever Arienne chooses to do, I support her.

  5. “i have always thought Arienne to be cut out for a different path in life.” so there you are Arienne, hindi ka pang beauty queen, straight from the blogger’s mouth #makicharettenarin

  6. Magsitingil nga kayo mga bakla bakit di nyo na lang tanggapin na dapat kalimutan nya na ang dream nya na maging beauty queen. Come on hwag ng bigyan ng false hope. Di talaga sya maganda at mag concentrate na lang sya sa academe

  7. goosebumps pa naman sa credentials nya. i think madadaan sa tamang make up at pasarela training yan. medyo matagal ng konti nga lang. Pero siguro. hinde nya talaga forte ang pageant. as a speaker yup. If merun lang pageant na ang ang main goal is makapag produce ng queen na effective speaker at gagawing representative sa mga organisasyong talakan internationally ay pwede don si arriene. Actually meron like MU and MW and MGI pero they choose the beauty first, it factor and so on then tsaka na maglalalaban sa pautakan.
anyway! naka move on na sya and her basher should stop bashing her na. itong mga basher naman ang hinde makamove on. hayssss. Congrats to you arriene. Good Luck.

  8. A big thank you to the Office of the Ombudsman for inviting me to your 29th anniversary celebration. I had a great time meeting new people; I am especially grateful to have met Ombudsman Conchita Claudio Carpio-Morales, who was previously an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines. She is known to be a tough “Woman of Steel,” but yesterday I witnessed her dance the Y.M.C.A. and I just love her enthusiasm! Hope to meet her again someday.

  9. Arienne has been accepted at both Harvard and Columbia university. I believe she has chosen Harvard.

  10. agree with tito norms…this is her calling. She rightly belongs to the academe.

    Good luck arienne.
I hope you consider in joining again nx year the playground of SMA 😉 hihihihi
